We Just Witnessed The End Of Curry And The Warriors As We Know It

- Steph Curry has reached his breaking point.
It’s 2019 NBA Finals. The Warriors just lost Kevin Durant for a second time due to an achilles tear. Klay Thompson already missed game 3, leaving Curry facing a box and one.
And in Game 6, when Klay Thompson goes for dunk and lands on the floor in pain, the camera pans to Curry who is sitting on the floor in disbelief
And now in 2024, we saw Curry have a similar reaction, with tears on his face, not because of Draymond getting ejected 4 minutes into the game, but because of what it means. This season for the Warriors has been a disaster. And it’s finally breaking Steph Curry, but why now? Why is Curry just done with the Warriors?
The Warriors made the best of the situation getting D’Angelo Russell who they would later flip for Andrew Wiggins, but man 2019-2021 were rough. 2019 because Curry and Klay were both hurt, and they went 15 and 50 but in 2020, Curry went through it for several reasons.
Now if you think Stephen Curry doesn’t care, think again. He cares about what people start saying, remember Kendrick Perkins, he cares about his legacy, something we’re about to get to in 2022 but Curry who was already an NBA champion was getting disrespected and he answered by leading the league in scoring. Yes, Steph Curry without another all star carried the Warriors to an 8th seed.
The hope was that once Klay Thompson would come back, maybe the Warriors could be good again.
But management didn’t. They just didn’t believe that the team could get it done and wanted the team to focus on younger players.
In fact the Warriors going into the 2021-22 season were 9th in power rankings by bleacher report, 13th in LA times.
But Klay would come back and while he wasn’t the same old Klay, he had his moments and was good enough that Curry’s faith was rewarded. Wiggins revamped himself, players finally understood how to play with Curry, how to spot him wide open.
And perhaps the most important, Steph Curry finally won his finals MVP. You can see how much it meant to him, crying on the court.
And afterwards, he was talking the talk, especially to all the doubters.
Well duh, when you go from kicking your opponents to punching your own teammates, that tends to happen. So another year lost in the championship window.
Where most players would have lost out on hope before the first championship, and even after last season, Curry had a lot of faith in himself and his closest teammates could get it done but that doesn’t seem likely because of piece #2 the Warriors are potentially calling it quits after this season and that’s coming from the Warriors owner.
It’s no secret that Klay and Draymond Green’s contracts are ending soon. Klay is up this year, Draymond next. But the Warriors paid over $150 million in taxes last year to keep this exact roster in taxt. That’s right, the new luxury tax rules made the Warriors a luxury tax repeater making them pay higher rates for going over the salary cap since they re signed their core to massive contracts.
And Joe Lacob, the owner, is sick of it. He’s stated that he wants to completely be out of the luxury tax.
And that’s the thing. It’s not injuries that is holding this team back right now. It’s the players and management themselves.
And yes while Curry proved all the haters wrong winning a finals MVP, he has a chance to do something special, something that would cement his legacy, and that’s Piece #3, a 5th championship can put Steph Curry as the best point guard of all time.
At the current moment, there is the conversation of who’s the best point guard of all time: Magic or Steph. Even Steph was asked about it he said, Now the main argument holding Steph back is that Magic has one more championship. But if that was equalized, would that mean Steph would be the best point guard?
Steph, like Jordan, takes a lot of things personally. And take the words of his teammates,
And apparently Jordan said that Magic is the best point guard of all time.
This 5th championship puts Curry firmly in the top 10 of all time, because he’s already done the rest. He has one of the biggest impacts on the game, he’s a multiple time MVP winner, and broke countless records. The reason why we are entertaining this debate is because Steph has the full resume, he has that aura. - Спорт
Are the Warriors making the playoffs?
Yeah
The lakers and king have to lose today to make the 8th seed
They have to win two in row...not likely. If the highest payroll in the history of sports can't make a 6 team playoff spot 😮😮😮. The owners were buying championships. Not a bottom of the barrel play in
No
If Curry gets fouled making a 3 then missing free throw and forcing shots being double teamed no
Dray has been the Warriors' Heart and Ass.
With his age and regressing talent, his ASS is outweighing his production.
As a vet, he should know his limits.
Thicc Draymond green?
Draymond is a worse Dillion brooks nowadays
😂
he prefers grabbing nuts, not ass lol
Didn't Dramond have a record year? Regressing? Check the stats, fella!
I admire Steph’s dedication and passion for the game, but that’s the problem. While he still has that drive to win, most of the people around him are ready to move on. I sympathize for him
Sympathize*
😂😂😂😂😂
No. Its the just the fans of the opposing NBA teams that are saying that. The reasons are pretty obvious. But watching their home team getting their asses handed to them too many times in recent years has blinded their vision to see and appreciate true greatness.
Let’s be honest, Draymond was responsible for the loss in the finals to Lebron, then calls Durant a B@tch, slugs Poole, then all the incidents throughout this season 😂
They deserve everything they're getting. Poole was Stephen replacement and Draymond was jealous of KD and the warriors organization picked Green over KD and deserve all the karma for keeping Draymond on the team.
@@jamieebrown8637Poole was Stephen replacement??😂😂dubs dodged a bullet then because that would've went horribly...poole is the most reckless player i have ever seen play ball..like he is a str8 up out of control player....am glad dubs traded his entitled ass

Steph is my favorite NBA player of all time. I hope his team can support him even further bro definitely needs them.
Im a fan too. I just hope they start rebuilding or trade the young core and go all in. They are playing in the middle, which is just a good version of Bulls now. They are hard to watch. I hope they just trade curry and the rest of their champ core and give the keys to kuminga. Imagine if Jk, moody, tjd, and poj core in 2 years. The warriors core is donezo, i hope they trade curry so he can compete for another title elsewhere. But thats suicide for the front office, that I understand.
Curry is washed
@@ItsYaBoi888 not even bro you're just a hater if you think this

Draymond needs to stop beefing and boxing with everyone ong 💀
Send Dray to the NFL or NHL. He is toxic. He ruined Poole.
Bro gotta go 😭💀🙏🏾
Why put those negative vibes out there? Stephen is aging like everyone else, but what is different is he takes care of his mind or mental as well as his physical health. No, he’s not breaking down, he’s simply taking more breaks. He’s still the best and will be for the next few years. Long live Steph for his unselfish sharing of his monumental talent and wealth ❤️💯.
It’s not negative to state the truth. He ain’t bashing Steph. He’s saying the warriors are not going to compete for championships for the rest of curry’s career; and he’s right.
he aint putting out negative vibes. it is what it is. the core is being broken down and Klay and Draymond are 99% leaving. And doesnt look like anyone stepping up to take their place. If it happens, it has to happen asap so they can have another chance at a ring. Otherwise, this is it.
@@redesignedlife777 , How do you know with such certainty that Dramond and Klay are leaving the Warriors. Naw, don't think so.
HE’S 36!!!

There’s legit no argument to have Steph outside of the top 10 all time 😭😭😭. Idk why people always have him in the 11-13 range. The highest Steph can go to is 6th the lowest is 8th all time.
That is nonsense. Teaming up with KD gives him only 2 legit rings that's a very good case to keep him outside top 10

@@julyonlamont00you sure as hell showed him ☠️
I know it's unthinkable but honestly trading Curry could be mutually beneficial for both parties. The Warriors don't have the assets to trade for another star who can make them competitive in the West and they sure as hell don't have time to wait for young players to develop. Holding on to Curry at this stage is just wasting his final good years. Even at his age now they could still get a king's ransom for him from a team that has the ability to be a contender, which enables them to get a head start on the inevitable rebuild as opposed to being a tweener team until Steph retires and having nothing to show for it. Steph then gets to play out his last good years competing for another chip. Win win for both sides.
That won’t happen. I think they signed an unwritten pact between Curry, Klay, Green, and Kerr. I think none of them will leave until Kerr and Curry retires.
@@iamtheonlywillyif its not in writing nothing is guaranteed in this world
@@smugey nope
@@iamtheonlywilly Yeah it certainly feels like there's an unwritten agreement between them. I'm not saying it 'will' happen, but I think it's something that they all should consider at this point. The team is so undersized and out gunned. Unless there's some way they think they can acquire a skilled big and a bunch of playoff experienced role players I just don't see how they can expect to compete in the next 1-2 years while Steph is still an elite talent.
Steph to the Spurs.
Bruh just hearing abt Dray pissing me off 🥲
I like how you now see the views move up in real time like twitter
The Warriors collapse has been a little jarring, but also Curry is very much on the downside of his career. Just because he lights it up every few games doesn’t mean his window isn’t shut. Klay and Draymond the same. Cold reality, but it was a fun ride!
You don’t average more than 26 points a game buy lighting it up a few games 😂😂😂 learn basketball
They are in 10th place my dude. Stop pretending.
@khackett7 and you think that's because of steph? Bro what?
In my humble opinion Curry is more impactful to a team than Lebron is. I’m not saying Lebron isn’t great but if I was trying to put someone on my team to make the biggest impact I’d pick Curry

Everyone underestimates greens production.
I can only see Steph Curry going to SAC Kings for Fox & Monk.
He gets to play with his former coach Mike Brown in a system built for his style of play :D
That would be a terrible choice for the Kings franchise to make though; Fox is beloved there just as Curry is beloved here so idk how well that would be
bro said to da kings 💀 in what earth u see dat happening
Bro, if u have to draft either Magic or Curry, I'm picking Steph all day
Curry is a scorer.
Magic a dimer.
“This Dynasty is over”
I remembered saying this in 2019 and 2021. All I’m saying is that we shall see. I believe it’s over when he’s done.
It's done
Perfectly said
It’s not over
In five years people will be saying "Anyone here in May 2029?"
That shit hurts
What I find is that in the late 2010s, you got bigmen blossoming who could do it all - pass, score, shoot (not at Curry's level but at an adequate clip) and dominate a possession - in the same way it took a smaller, skilled guard did in the early 2010s ( a la Dame, Steph). THe Warriors had the skills on paper but did not have the size to make it matter when it turned over to the 2021-2022 season when Giannis and Jokic were top of the league and DOncic was doing point guard things at 6'8.

That was never an option and last I checked dray won one without kd and kd hasnt won any.
@josephmatthews7698 Dray won one BECAUSE of Curry. Imagine Curry + KD. Good lawd! Plus 7'3" Kai Sotto!
@@angelg2638 Curry+KD was never going to happen regardless of what happened with dray.
KD wanted to be a leader and Steph wanted to be a star. The experiment was over and the hate and backlash ripped them apart.

Curry has literally done nothing wrong and everyone keeps disrespecting him. His organization, the media, the league with its atrocious reffing and bias towards him. And now his own team mates. I feel so bad for him
Exactly, everything is falling apart for him, and technically it’s our fault. The media keeps stating he’s washed even though he’s had a scoring title and chip less than 3 years ago, Draymond and Klay obviously don’t have that vigor anymore, and every time Curry drives and gets pounded inside, it’s never called. It seems the NBA world is against Stephen Curry.
I felt bad for Klay when he blew his knee out in that game deciding game 6 loss back in the 2019 NBA Finals. Klay attempted to dunk the ball during that moment during a tight game. Something that he normally doesn't do although more than capable of doing it. It was just an unfortunate moment. The 2019 Toronto Raptors simply had too much firepower that completely overwhelmed that Golden State Warriors roster. Only in game 5 for the brief time Kevin Durant was playing did the Warriors have an answer to the Raptors impressive roster. KD if I'm not mistaken went 3-for-3 behind the arc before tearing his Achilles.
dawg klay got 0 points last night💀
My best advice to Warriors management is ride out Steph's Contract, give him all the help he needs despite the money cause he is still box office and brings money to the team in so many ways... After that, they can all talk again whats the next step to do.
Will the money return with profit though? 150m, he said. Got that money?

tragic times amirite!
Curry messed up when he kept standing up from Draymond. Draymond should have been cut back when he clashed with KD. Then they had another chance when he punched Poole. Draymond's behavior has an impact on the whole team and it has derailed the Warriors. Now Steph doesn't have the pieces he needs to win. Unfortunately, this is at a point where his game is still improving. It's a shame.
I agree with you 💯 something has to change
i don't know if you been watching lately but the reason there keeping the same team is because this is great team they been good since the all-star break Klay been going crazy great chemistry and all but the reason it dont seem to doing anything is because there record was already to bad

As HoF as he is history has tell us that he needs to carry a good team (or system) to get to the PO. Otherwise this same argument can be used to make a case for A LOT of players who "underachieved"
Klay and his lack of conditioning and confidence .
Coupled with his preferring to watch rather than get himself open and lack of defense is what is killing Steph .
Its 4 on 5 every moment that Klay is on the floor .
Past due that Klay needs to go .
It’s time for curry to mix it up new team
Lebron when he got older got AD. Steph needs that as well

It’s very rare to see a loyal generational talent even mj went to wizards it may be time to leave Steph 🤷🏽♂️
Steph's gonna find out who he has chemistry with at the olympics this summer, then go join them.
Trading Jp was probably the worst decision

Steph still not in Top 10 players of all time? You gotta value defense a lot if you're leaving him out of Top 10. Cuz apart from that, he's a legend.
Will Curry be the top PG if he gets a 2 peat before he retires???
Damian Lee is hurt not out.
Also, re "best point guard" debate - if the definition of a point guard is to make the offense work excellently on the floor (ie execute a coached game plan as the ambassador of the coach on the floor), Magic and Steph both did it. Magic did it in an era of inside scoring by revolutionising it with fastbreak plays on the regular, which got backcourt and wing players involved AT THE RIM where normally it's a feed-to-center/four play. Steph did it by innovating and creating a motion offense to draw defenses away from otherwise capable shooters in the wing spots, creating small ball. A general in war draws enemy attention and wins objectives with strategy, whatever it looks like. Magic did it in his way, in his era, with glowing success; Steph did it in his way, in his era, with glowing success. It is so hard to separate the two from a substance standpoint...
...and we are talking about ONE championship? get outta here.
