2024/08/11 - ARSCCA Autocross Points #6 - SSC (AMS)

Video is of lap 2, my second fastest run.
Today was a reminder that making excuses doesn't make you faster. A number of things threw me off my mental game, and I continued to lament and pout throughout my time in grid. In the end, all it did was distract me and bring down those around me. The result was that my first lap was my fastest, my second was my second fastest, and then I plateaued around half of a second off my best for the remainder of my 6 runs. Overheated tires were certainly part of the problem, but video and data clearly show they weren't the only problem.
Next time I'm frustrated at anything not under my control in that moment, I will be doing my best to remind myself to forget it and concentrate on what I can control: managing the tires, reviewing the data, checking for distance to cones, etc.
Overall placement I believe was "okay" relative to my normal standings, but I know I could have done better.
Looking forward to a better September.
