I went through that in 1998, but the dome was a lot larger like four feet in diameter. It worked, nothing bad but things have changed. They let me listen to music I brought with me.
Not necessarily. That would depend on the location, size and tissue type of the target. Ask your neurosurgeon if the treatment is likely to affect the motor cortex following treatment and result in contralateral weakness.
This looks so scary! I wish I hadn't watched it but I was curious. I wish I hadn't let that cat out of the bag. I don't want to get this done and I don't want surgery either. 😭
Side effects, which take some time to appear, include swelling of the brain and chronic headaches (which they mention but say that most people have no problems. The frame causes significant scarring since it has bolts that go through the head and up to the skull.) Radiation of any kind is problematic and it could have an effect on surrounding tissues. I wish treatment courses would be open and honest about what treatment actually entails, but they sometimes aren't.
@@Sweetbutapsycho4 i had to take medicine for almost 2 years after nothing worked my neurosurgeon said gamma knife it is. I went to radiology yesterday , i get this surgery next month on dec 2. And i can't wait
Very few side effects compared with classical surgery... do not inform yourself only from youtube, there are many systematic reviews that can be useful,
