Steven, I've been watching all of your health focused videos / podcasts over and over again. It's hard to soak everything up all at one. At the beginning of this year I was 400lbs. I've lost 60lbs in the last 6 months. More importantly, I've lost 30lbs in the last 6 weeks. Offering all of this applicable knowledge has helped save my life. I'm 34 and have a three year old daughter and six year old son and I KNOW having access to this knowledge and education has assisted me to make incredible changes in my life. Thank you for all that you and your guests do. Sincerely, Matt.

I was on Metformin for two years. It made me so sick and I was eating Pepto Bismol like smarties. My doctor changed the dose three times and I still felt sick. He also explained that I can't heal myself via diet. I threw the meds away. I gave up sugar and carbs, I did intermittent fasting, and took berberine. My glucose level is now normal, my blood pressure is now normal, and I've lost 16 pounds.

I did a 5-day water fast and healed a lower back pain that was so debilitating I couldn’t stand for more than 10 minutes at a time and hadn’t exercised in 2 years. I lived on Aleve. I did the fast in February, and I have never had a day of pain since. I started intermittent fasting at the end of January. I have lost over 30 lbs (I started at 154 lbs). I can and do exercise now, my depression is gone and life is finally good again. I’m 67 and feel better than I did at 50. Highly highly recommend the 3-5 day water fast for healing.

    • @TampaSuburbs
      @TampaSuburbs Месяц назад +29

I can attest to that! I've done several 3-5 day water/tea/ electrolytes only fasts and I've had healing in my body almost every time. My last fast, within 48 hours I saw an improvement in my frozen shoulder, my reach was 3 inches higher. I broke the fast but did a very strict keto for another 5 days. Then I did another 55-hour water/ electrolyte only fast And I saw more improvement. And then I continued to eat very low carb. So within just a few weeks, my frozen shoulder went from being about 40% healed to about 90% healed. They say it's supposed to take over one year to heal a frozen shoulder, but I did it in just a matter of weeks by fasting! My range of motion is almost back to normal again! Funny thing is, I was fasting to lose weight, I had no idea that it would affect my frozen shoulder. So that was a bonus!

When you do a longer fast like a 3 to 5 day water fast are you also going to work? I would think that it would be hard to do this in a working environment. I often get lightheaded, dizzy, and have zero energy to work out when I’m doing a 24 hour fast, and when I push it beyond that I spend most of the time in bed so I don’t eat when I try and go for a run which I would normally do in my daily life. I feel lightheaded and dizzy, and I reach more coffee, which makes me more tired , but I can push through that exhaustion and force myself to work out and do some strength training. I go to another realm and then all of a sudden I’m not hungry and I’m not dizzy anymore. At the end of the workout, I often feel tired, but for some stupid reason, I always end up breaking my fast at that point so that I can get something to eat and have a good day. The next day is the dumbest thing I end up doing I should just go to bed and extend my fast for the next day, but I’m always thinking I don’t wanna feel lightheaded and dizzy the next day. I’d rather have some food in my system so I can get a good workout in. But, once I break fast and I have my dinner and I go to bed I end up waking up two or three hours later and eating again and going back to bed and then the next day I’m really tired

If I may comment, I have been on Ozempic for just over a year now and have lost 46 lbs. Initially I resisted the suggestion from my Dr. to go on it, because I felt like it was cheating. However after trying dozens of times to lose weight and being a woman in her 60's who doesn't have to worry about earning a living, I felt desperate enough to do it. The results were immediate and fast. Fortunately I had minimal side effects. The thing that has fascinated me the most, though, is how losing weight has changed my life. I swim four times a week, I have continued my intermittent fasting, I feel strong and powerful in my body, and my health has vastly improved. I feel like I can do anything! So for me the combination of the Ozempic and the changes I have been able to make in my lifestyle have been empowering and I feel fantastic about myself. I'm happy I have come out of this all feeling strong and healthy. Onward and Upward!

French use apple cider vinegar to prepare natural sauce for salad:
    - half tablespoon of mustard
    - 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
    - 2 tablespoon of oil (olive, sunflower, nut, whatever you like, I used to mix two different oils)
    - salt and pepper (moderately)
If the taste of the vinegar is too harsh (I don't know the percentage in different countries), add a little bit of water (1 tablespoon).
This is excellent for any salad.

My mom was the best and taught me how to eat properly. She cooked from scratch! If we were hungry before dinner , too bad, she gave us a carrot then told us to wait and play outside, period. We then played outside more. After dinner we had one snack like fruit, nuts or buttered bread. Cookies or cake was for birthdays or holidays only. Soda as well, they were treats. All I see now in the aisles are processed crap. My husband and I eat lean meats, veggies, fruits, nuts, eggs, some dairy, some carbs but good ones like brown rice , oatmeal. Of course some condiments in moderation. Full fat dressing. Our cholesterol is in normal range and our glucose levels. Weekends we go out once for whatever we want. That’s it. We are within our bmi, we work out. Dumbbell work outs, walk our dog. We’re in our late 50’s. And drink water throughout the day. We keep it simple.

My chronic pain went away, my fatty liver was no more, my skin tags went away, and other annoyances went away as well. I can’t thank fasting enough. I didn’t have to reduce calories-I just had to change my eating window!!! It has killed the food noise I used to deal with and I no longer have guilt or fear around food! I also crave healthier foods and processed foods aren’t as attractive to me anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I still consume them sometimes. I am still a modern human, after all. Keto has amazing results short term BUT long term it has negetive effects. The best long term diet by far is a whole plant SOS free diet, with an 8 to 10 hour eating window every day. That's a tough call so I always fall off the wagon on a faily regular basis. But with a water only fast a couple of times a year, it manages to keep me lean where it matters - visceral fat. I have never consumed alcohol in my life. Coming from a place where alcohol is almost non-existent, moving to the U.S. was the first time I encountered the idea that happiness or relaxation could be achieved through drinking. It was a jaw-dropping realization for me. I agree that, if alcohol didn't exist, humans would still find other ways to experience happiness. There are billions of people worldwide, like myself, who have never touched alcohol yet still find joy in life. This is a clear example that happiness and relaxation come from many other sources, such as meaningful relationships, hobbies, meditation, or simply enjoying the present moment, not just from substances like alcohol.

My blood pressure regulated itself and at my last checkup my Dr said everything looked perfect in my labs and bloodwork. It sounds good/fine, but it (obviously) doesn't carry much helpful truth it itself. Salt and honey can last on a shelf till the end of time, but they are metabolized in the body in less than an hour.
So, one of the next questions that arises is: so what if it lasts a long time inside the body? So what? Is it "long time in body (probably) = bad"? There's probably an explanation somewhere, and I'm not necessarily sceptical, but it really highlights the reasons I don't like such slogans.

Well the quote she said was about substances that you can't recognize when you read the label. Honey and salt we all know what is, but you buy bread and its supposed to have only 3x ingredients ( flour, water and salt, yeast starter in sourdough is also pure flour and water, nothing else) and yet the one in the shop has 20+ ingredients out of which 15 we don't have a clue. That's the point she was making and the quote summarised it perfectly.

The diagnostic methods of looking at the whole body - feet, eyes, nails, hair, skin, menstrual blood flow, tongue coating ect is all based on Classical Chinese medicine diagnostic techniques. All classically trained Chinese medicine practitioners do this in their practice all day. We combine those objective findings with the patients subjective experience and treat people, not symptoms.
I would love to see you interview any leader in the field of Chinese medicine - for example, Heiner Fruehauf or Jeffrey Yuen, would be an amazing addition to to your show as opposed to primarily interviewing internet celebrities who have a lot of airtime already.

I'm fortunate because here in the countryside many people have gardens where they grow vegetables, when I was living in London I was shocked at how many fast food places there were, the smell of greasy food was nauseating, people generally eat really badly in the cities. I hope Italy continues like this, because I see so many kids now going to macdonald like it's cool...

01:15:30 - she says about measuring glucose (blood sugar level). I actually did it. After her very first episode on this podcast, I bought a glucose monitor - it was for diabetic people. I thought to myself: funny that people start to pay attention to their blood sugar AFTER they get sick. (not talking about those who got it from birth). Anyway, I put this glucometer to my upper arm, it was recording my blood sugar online - connected to mobile app. What I'd been observing during the next 2 weeks (life cycle of the item) was pretty fascinating. I mean it is a complete mind-twister when you get to see how your own body reacts to various types of food in real time! Within those weeks, I learned about myself more than I thought I'd known my entire life. I ended up watching her YT, buying her book and follow her guidelines. I completely changed my entire nutrition plan and I've never felt myself better. I don't have mood swings anymore during my PMS - all thanks to her book. I didn't have any health issues, but with her advices I got my body and health upgraded to the next level!

I saw Dr Mindy s videos a few weeks ago. I had heard of the 16:8 fasting and had tried doing it, but I now realise that I was not so well informed. After watching several videos, I began to understand the mechanics of the insulin, glucose, ketones, etc...I am not obese but have been overweight about 25 lbs for so long, 20, 30 years, yoyoing up and down, I tried so many different diet solutions, gyms, spas, massages, etc...nothing worked. I started fasting 2 weeks ago doing what Dr Mindy advised. I haven't weighed myself but I can see how the weight is falling off. I ve never been a soda drinker, I m not a person who eats " factory" food, but just understanding how often we eat ( in Spain, you have 5 meals a day!) even if we think its healthy, even if its a Mediterranean diet, you are basically eating all day! I can't believe I am fasting for so many hours!! I saw Dr Mindy had an Achilles Tendon problem and fasting helped cure it. I ve had Plantar Fasicitis a whole year. I will let you know how it works out. Thank you again.

Have you just tried lowering your meal sizes before thinking fasting is magical? Don't misunderstand me, I think fasting is easier since you don't think about food so you're less incline to overeat, but there's nothing magical to it, you're just lowering the chaloric intake and that's how it works.

@@arka267 Actually, I m not a big eater, I don't drink alcohol, I don't take any medication whatsoever..I guess after having kids and then a hysterectomy about 25 years ago I just haven't been able to shift those pounds. Its weird because I haven't increased but I just didn't budge from that accumulated weight, mostly belly and butt. I spend ages now doing my shopping, reading labels on everything. I try and buy as much food as possible which is organic/ ecological ( can be expensive!) but even the info on these products is not always truthful. I m so happy to have found Dr MindyPelz's page. Just 2 weeks in and doing the 16:8 fast, I find I m not hungry, I don't have breakfast, so yeah, it seems to be working. Im hoping to do a 3 day fast soon, fingers crossed!!!

Yes, the products that Mindy mentions do spoil in about a week, but anything that's going bad can be turned into a stew or a jam or a soup and sold in a jar :) a pie can be made out of old apples, a pudding can be made out of old bread , eggs can be preserved in a jar etc...etc... We don't have to use extremely synthetic stuff for that either. I believe the system could definitely be rearranged into this instead of what it is now :)

Growing up Muslim, every year we did it. I remember as a teenager going to school all my teachers and kids gave us such a hard time practicing our faith and gave us trouble when we fasted. God commanded us to fast during the holy month of Ramadan. From dawn to sunset no food or water for 30 days. Every year Muslims walk away not only feeling closer to God but physically we all feel great, acne gone, mental clarity and so much energy. All the prophets of God fasted.

I'm 56, and this year has been so difficult for me to lose weight. I am a yo -yo dieter...usually doing keto over the winter, then enjoying meals out and drinks in the summer as I live in a holiday town. Each time I do keto, I've lost less weight and this year, I decided to try healthy eating and fasting. Nothing worked. Keto for 7 weeks, lost 2kg and 1.5cn. ate healthy with lots of protein and went to the gym 3 times a week with a training programme and some cardio. Didn't lose a thing. The doctor said my thyroid levels were ok so I gave up and just thought I need to be fat this year and hope whatever's going in in my body, calms down and I can try again
After listening to this, In going to look more into fasting properly and will eat healthy low carb as that has worked best for me in the past. If I see any changes, I'll update this post in a few months as I know there will be other women my age who just feel so deflated, (nit literally, unfortunately 😅) and desperately searching for something that works before going down the Ozempic route.

2 hours of AMAZING content. As someone who has fasted many times in the last 8 years (from 12 hour fasts to 5-7 day water fasts and even a 72 hour dry fast), this is refreshing to hear and I've learned a lot as well (didn't even know the term "Obesigenics" existed till this video hit my eyes and ears!)
It's odd though, as I go back over each "theme" of each section of the video (in the progress bar at the bottom), I realize that literally ZERO of these modern day problems existed for well over 99.999% of humanity's time on this earth.
In the last 0.001% of time we've been a species, we've changed so... SO MUCH.
I don't know if we're capable of adapting over time to this new world or not - but we certainly need more than 0.001% of the timeline in which to make the adaptations!!! 💖
