These old NFL intros are classic! I'm 48 years old now, and seeing these old videos brings me back to when I was 12 years old.....Seems like just a few years ago!
Late reply but was born and raised in Green Bay, and been to Adelaide a couple times as my wife's family lives there. I absolutely love Adelaide. No joke, last time I flew in Christmas Eve 2019, watched the Packers take the North, went to the beach in Glenelg, I saw a few guys rocking Packers gear. Cheers mate.
Lynn Dickey didn't know it at the time, but he made history when he retired in 1985. He is the most recent Packers QB to finish his career undefeated in home playoff games - not counting those QBs who never played one. Brett Favre started out doing well in home playoff games for the Packers, but lost three of his last five - one of which game to a division rival, the Vikings, and another to a Giants team that eventually won the Super Bowl. Aaron Rodgers won only one of his first three home playoff games, starting out by once again being beaten by a Giants team that eventually won the Super Bowl, and in his third home playoff game, was beaten by his childhood team, the 49ers, who became the first warm-weather team to win a road postseason game at Lambeau Field (the Falcons were a dome team in 2002).
A correction: This was a FIRST ROUND playoff game, NOT Divisional Playoff. There were no divisions that year following the strike, so it was simply the eight best teams in each conference that made it, including (prior to the Seahawks winning the NFC West in 2010 with a 7-9 record) the only teams in NFL history to make the playoffs with a losing record, the Browns and Lions at 4-5 in that shortened season. (Note: Since originally posting this, the Carolina Panthers won the NFC South in 2015 with a 7-8-1 record and in 2022, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the NFC South with an 8-9 record).
@@howardcosell2022At the time I posted that, what I said was true. The Panthers (and last year the Buccaneers winning the NFC South at 8-9) came after I posted that.
From the end of Bart Starr’s playing career in 1971 to when Favre took over the starting job in 1992, Lynn Dickey was probably the best QB for the Packers during that time. The Packers teams of the 70’s and 80’s made Green Bay the Siberia of the NFL up until Reggie White signed with them in 1993. This game was probably the unlikeliest of matchups for GB during this time since it was their 2nd playoff appearance in 10 years at the time.
Lombardi's Packers never played the Dolphins, and couldn't have played them in anything but an exhibition game or the Super Bowl (which was still seen as a glorified exhibition) as they were in separate leagues back then. Even then, the Dolphins were only around for Lombardi's last two years as the Packers coach. As for the Packers-Cardinals matchup, the Cards hadn't been to the playoffs in 7 years and the Packers hadn't been for 10; so this was rare, indeed.
Yeah. It looks as if that was about 2,000 fans short of a sellout and the strike hurt their ability to sell out games in Milwaukee during the regular season, but their game there vs. the Vikings was still shown in the Milwaukee DMA, likely because it was right after the strike ended.
And here comes the rematch this Saturday from Glendale, Arizona.....sorry no Jim Hart, Neil Lomax or Lynn Dickey....all that's left now are some guys named CARSON PALMER and AARON RODGERS LOL
I definitely would have liked my chances better given the history at the time between the Packers and Dolphins, LOL! Hopefully sometime not too far down the road, that will be a Super Bowl matchup... :)
Thanks for pointing me to the wiziwig site. There were many games listed there, but all of the links to "megaupload" have been disabled. Are those games linked elsewhere now?

They need to switch to 16 Playoff teams permanently & give everyone a BYE the week after the last regular season game

Cleveland also made the playoffs in the AFC at 4-5.
Add the 2015 Carolina Panthers at 7-8-1

My dad was at this game

last blackout at Lambeau Field
I agree
Man only if Starr had a defense to go along with this offense. Starr's offense could compete with anyone in the NFL
Tim Ryan, great announcer for cbs.
One of the most, if not THE most unlikely playoff matchup of the 1980s... :)

The "Red Rush" my ass; the Cards never had a good defense during the 70s or 80s.
+Guillermo Sanchez And the Football Cardinals left St. Louis for Arizona this month back in 1988.
Guillermo Sanchez Roger wherhli was a great db hall of famer
"Roger wherhli was a great db hall of famer"
You're right I forgot about him.
Um, yes they did. The 1983 defense was a top 10 defense(6) as were the '84 defense(8).
A rare blackout in the Green Bay market.

what about full game PLEASE!!!!
Scott Davidson no copyright infringement
I remember eddie lee ivory and james lofton getting busted at a strip club here in Milwaukee in the 80's when they played here in town
Johnny Morris, the Bear backer.

🟣 "Skol Vikings!" 🏈 "beat the 💚 cheese heads!" 🧀 "Yeah!" "Woo!" "Yay!" "Yes!"
I wonder where I can find the themes that they used for this? They were better than some of the ones they use now?
you could download it over at wiziwig forum

Will Drucker that was a great game
next time the packers would make the playoffs would be 1993
I definitely would have liked my chances better given the history at the time between the Packers and Dolphins, LOL! Hopefully sometime not too far down the road, that will be a Super Bowl matchup... :)
This will be the intro music in heaven.
1983 bart starr would be fired as coach
