Saw them for the Tapehead tour. They were in a small club on Jacksonville's westside. We stood right in front of them. We knew the words to all of their songs. We might have been the only ones who did. We shook hands at the end of the show. My wife got a pick from Doug. They are the coolest!
What a closet classic in every way! The kings of understated awesomeness! They just have too much bandwidth for the average ear to comprehend i guess. No Auto Tune, it must suck, right? Nah. It’s heavy, it’s funky as fuck, it’s melodic and tightly crafted. Great i mean GREAT guitar! Man just listen to that slinky string-bending lead. Ty Tabor is as good as anyone out there. Uniquely powerful and bluesy lead vocals, signature Beatlesque backing vocals. Drums locked in and grooving hard. And the bass… I go back to the 2:55 break over and over. That tone. As a bassist, that’s Holy Grail stuff right there. I tried for 26 years to get that bass tone after seeing them live on this ‘94 Dogman tour (opening for Scorpions) until dUg Pinnick came out with his signature Tech 21 stompbox. The man is a groove machine. New King’s X single just came out! First new album in 14 years drops in September! Tour to follow!! Do not miss your chance to catch one of the best bands in the world live! Get your tickets for the mighty KING’S X!!!!
He always does that. There's only a few songs where he always sticks pretty close to the solo on the album but that's what so amazing about him, he still captures the same feel and essence of it.
Thank you so much for uploading this. I remember this used to be uploaded way WAY back in the ancient days of youtube (circa 2006-07). It's great to finally see it semi-watchable quality again.
Alice In Chains basically admittedly stole from their blueprint of having two singers.. that's why you have Layne and Jerry in one band, and Doug and Ty in another one. At worst, you have the prequel to Alice In Chains here! For AIC, I DON'T KNOW how I would have made it without these guys either.. I wasn't even a rockstar and I'm saying this! They were part of my life saving of myself experience session
great footage man, thanks... and dug did often call this song "I pretend" when doing it live.. I posted a clip recently where he called it a love song...lol
Stunning. King's X should have been one of the biggest bands on Earth. Scary talent.
The world is not talented enough to recognize greatness like this
I totally agree, man!!! I'm still listening to them 30 + years later.
Totally agree but they are our secret treasure
Yeah, never understood how they never fully made it commercially. They've always had so much respect from other top musicians too.
keep them for us i see no difference in music quality, just in crowds, anytime i see them i am front row and they KILL IT
Still one of the tightest playing and talented bands out there. These guys are your favorite musician's favorite musician's
No not really. But to each their own
Most underrated and overlooked band of all time yet one of the best.
many thanks to the person who cared enough to preserve this footage & share it with the world! ❤

you're so lucky to see them in that period, imho TapeHead & Dogman are their best albums yet
One word that I think of when I hear King's X harmonies.....HEAVENLY!
Ty Tabor will always be in my Top 10 Best Guitarists of All Time. He is so damn good.
word.
The mix on the Dogman album was a conscious effort to make the album mirror their live sound. So, it's no surprise this sounds so much like the album!
How great was Dogman. I love all the bands stuff. But they hit it out the park on that one!
Tapehead is up there too
Unreal album. The first 7 songs are all great or better.
@@kftc1980throw Ear Candy into the mix.
Have mercy Miss Percy, my ears are flapping with joy.
Still one of my favorite King’s X songs!

Eric. Already have ;)
Possibly the greatest rock band of all time ❤!
What a solo here. Ty reworked/improvised the album version of it.
He always does that. There's only a few songs where he always sticks pretty close to the solo on the album but that's what so amazing about him, he still captures the same feel and essence of it.
awesome video, totally awesome performance by the best 3-piece hard rock band of all time
Les Paul, Fender strat, Yamaha, Guilford, Zion, WHATEVER! Ty has an unchanging KILLER tone!
Greatness.
Extraordinary performance of this outstanding song.
Doug is like Jimi Hendrix brother

afukinmen! Definitely under appreciated!
Happy that I saw them live and got to meet them.
I love this song and album.
I was searching through the comments hoping and praying to find one single negative comment just to rip them to shreds. Not a single one.

Oh yeah and you can especially hear their influence in the song "What The Hell Have I?" by AIC.

The music industrial complex is broken! You'll have to find the best music on your own! Rock radio's dead!
Elder

If Bruce Dickinson heard King's X, he wouldn't need more cowbell.
Great Pop Rock song and should have been better received.
Best shit ever!!!!
Put that on a cracker...like Stale Cracker says.
