Savoy Brown - Oregon State Prison 1987
Savoy Brown was the brainchild of Lead Guitarist and mainstay Kim Simmonds. The late 60s up to 1970 featured 3 members of Foghat (Dave Peveritt, Roger Earl and Tony Stevens) plus the amazing Blues vocals of Chris Youlden. There have been numerous vocalists throughout Savoy Browns history including Jimmy Kunes (Later to join Cactus), Jackie Lynton (Recently recovered footage on Midnight Special from 1974 on You Tube) and even Stan Webb of Chicken Shack and Miller Anderson amongst others. After Youlden, my favourite vocalist of the band was Dave Walker, especially on the heavy driving Boogie style. I only managed to see Savoy Brown a couple of times during the Mid 90s in London, but persona...

This is by far the heaviest track on the CD, and would have been a nice welcome to the Budgie setlist during their final years. It actually reminds me quite a bit of Phil Lynott & Gary Moore's 'Out in the Fields'. Dai Williams features on guitar here Special thanks to Simon Wilson of Sabre Dance Australia. Project DSP - Feat Burke Shelley of Budgie - When you're calling

First track from the very obscure Side project of Burke Shelley. Personally, I had never really gone beyond the track 'Blue within our hearts' which is already uploaded on You Tube. A chance request for tracks gave me the inspiration to finally listen to the tracks in full. This is another ballad-like track which would not have sounded out of place on a Budgie album in the same way as tracks li...

Today years old. New Wave is a gift that keeps on giving...
❤❤❤😊
Love it! I only wish whoever videoed this would have centered in more on Rod Price during the solos.
I was there....Came out to NZ on a working holiday from Wales UK- 1980-1982. Stayed with my sister and bro in law in Hamilton. Met heaps of colorful beautiful human beings. As a 17 year old village boy from Wales, Sweetwater's will always remain one of the best experiences for me ever. Must of been that NZ green stuff that was inhaled. Highlights for me...Mud fights / swimming in the Waikato river, Bryan Ferry (Roxy Music) JO JO Zep, Split Enz and more NZ green.
@frazerwilliams1368 Yeah. The Green was very nice, but even better in the 70s. However, the festivals weren't really my cuppa. A couple of bands here and there. There was too much Indie pop for me. I emigrated to London 6 years later and caught the last decent rock Reading festival with Alice Cooper, Status Quo, Georgia Satellites. Also went to the next couple of Donington Frstivals, but thd choice of solo gigs to me was like a kid in a candy store
カッコイイ!!!

I was fortunate to see Frank's 2006 tour in Springfield, VA @ Jaxx; also saw him there in 1991 when the venue was known as Zaxx; Frank is unique and simply the best!, there is no substitute!
Wouldn't have been fun if Roger Chapman had sung Freddie Mercury instead of Paul Rogers?
Great watching them live you definitely got your money worth
Should give credit where it is due and it due here l loved wilko but times change and so do line ups and lee was a great front man who could make his harmonica talk ❤
Great to hear acoustic versions of his songs. I like this one. Thank you ! And i love the photo chosen for the video 👍
この泉谷バージョン❤好きです! 尊敬的なライブやろ!

Loved the Steve on keys intro! Fantastic
And during the gig. Bonus. Go Stevie
Spanish Castle Magic...well, Hendrix himself would be stretched to better Eric here
It's a shame this band came out at the time grunge was taking over they were probably the best rock n roll band to come out in Years before grunge came out and killed rock n roll. Not nearly the acclaim they deserved
@JohnLackey-l5e I completely agree. Another band I felt that maybe came at the wrong time was Kings X. They had to compete with the likes of Hair Metsl bands at the time (1988) such as Warrant, Poison etc and also the likes of Thrash. Kings X failed to dominate because they had Christian influences and were really nice guys and not party animals. At their peak (1988 to 1994) they were major influences to many Grunge and Thrash musicians including guys from Peal Jam, Pantera, Anthrax etc. I have heard that Kings X were actually heralded as the Godfahthers of Grunge due to their Drop D guitar tunings. At the time of Cry of Live, I honestly can't recall another new band at that time who excited me equally. A few years earlier in the late 80s it was Masters of Reality and Burning Tree. It is very rare, for me anyway, to come across a new exciting band these days, because not only do they have to compete against Grunge, Thrash etc heroes, plus the mainstream rubbish, there are all the dinosaur bands like Rolling Stones, ACDC etc to compete with who are in fact way past their sell by date. In the end though, it's sad that Diamonds and Debris didn't really resonate with me. It wasn't bad, but that spark kinda fizzled out for me
@JohnLackey-l5e I must add 2 other bands that grabbed my attention in the 93 and 96 era. Wild T and the Spirit and Jesse Johnson. Jesse Johnson was actually more prominent in the 80s Paisley Par like era with his funky pop themes BUT it was his 96 album Bare my Naked Soul that had everything, and was more akin to Jimi Hendrix. Even ex Hendrix bass player Billy Cox made an appearance on the album. Sadly, that was a one off album, and if his poppies fans could open up, I am sure something bigger could have resulted
Nice Doom music, Burke Shelley.
Lonesome Dave had the most underrated rock and roll voice ever. Fabulous!
@SeanCollins-t4w It's all very subjective when you say most, but I do agree he was underrated. Especially if you compare him to highly rated singers like Paul Rodgers. For example I'm not afraid to karaoke to songs like Alright now and Feel like making love,, but try singing a song like Midnight Madness, and you will struggle. Why they chose Scott Holt to front Foghat is maybe an example of Midnight Madness. Charlie Huhn was a much better choice and gave the songs, and their image, a much better outlook
One of the greatest voice and guitar of all times in rock and roll history. And one of the most underrated...
JUST BRILLIANT what more can you say about SM, probably the most under recognised artist in the whole world.
Absolutely shit kicking rock and roll. Brilleux was the Daddy!!!!
Great sound
Best of the best bravo ok
Яскраво дуже добже ок
I don't understand when people say a band is underrated. When twenty thirty years people are still talking about them and buying their records or c d's nowadays And yet they're still talking about them. I just don't get it.
@richardrincon3090 IMHO, I think when people say a band is underrated, they mean that the band should have been more well known to the general public for their skills, performances etc It's funny, but I 1st came aware of Steve Marriott (Well... Small Faces anyway) when Lazy Sunday was played a lot in New Zealand when I was a small kid. Then there was Humble Pie with the Filmore live album regarded as a masterpiece. Frampton with his Live album anyway would have excused from the underrated tag. I got to see Steve Marriott in a small pub in the late 80s and he played regularly in London at the time to small crowds all the time. You wouldn't have seen that with Frampton. Most of the musicians I enjoy and are on my Channel, I would deem as underrated because they are not on everyone's lips. Bands such as Kings X, Mahogany Rush etc imho were not given the credit they deserved when they were at their peak (Kings X circa 1990 and Mahogany Rush circa 1982). In reality, we all have our favourite musicians, who we consider are brilliant etc, but the majority are uninterested and don't see the hype. Sometimes it's to our bonus when this is the case as we can see the band in a small venue with no stress rather than the likes of Arenas, Stadiums etc. However, on the flip side, I don't understand the overrated bands of current times such as ACDC, Status Quo etc who will sell out arenas with ease when they are well past there sell by date. Just my 2 cents worth ;)
The God of mods in fine form him too young a fine musician
Eric always has great tone.
That signature sound of Foghat! Times pass away music lives on forever.
Some people have referred to Mr. Marriott as "The Guv"...I feel that way inclined regarding Mr. Youlden as well. Thank you for posting this.
@wiltonhudgens221 Agree wholeheartedly. I saw Chris Youlden in 88 and posted the audio on my channel. He was just so cool and had a Golden voice. Chris gouldon? :)
@@groovedohg Right on.
Excellent!!! Thank You for posting , there is not much Chicken Shack live on RUclips and this one is a dream. Christine is just as her second name or even more 👋👋👋❤🥲
Shame on the rock in roll Hall of Fame for not recognizing this great musician and his work but now they're the rock in roll Hall of shame
Jimmy can play the harp too, great on the sax! What a voice😉
ウチナーグチ濃すぎて部分的にしか分からない😂
THANK YOU !!! I MISS MTV THE 80's
I got see the original band in 1997 at a bar in Waco, right up close and personal! Awesome show!
Зависть сгубила группу. Вечная история.
Classic version of WHY DONT WE Shame they are not all together! Wonderful players and material... Pete Woodroffe Music UK
If you're coming here to appreciate this version (the best version) don't scroll to the bottom to read the loser takes on it. Yes obviously he is nervous and playing ahead of the beat. I'm sure Eric is a little embarrassed by this version. But (sorry) this is bigger than Eric. This is so good that his own taste doesn't matter because it gets perpetually worse, slower, and more boring from here on. This is one of the most amazing moments in the history of electric guitar. A prodigy somehow gets a full ACL show and tears it up with a huge array of amps and a vintage Strat. It's a fairy tale. It's a lightning bolt. Don't analyze it and compare it to your own highly trained playing. You suck at the guitar, that's why no one is talking about you. This is up at the level of The Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock and you know it (or you should).
Фантастическая группа. Яркая индивидуальность в лице Шона и Брайана являются определяющими в их узнаваемости и ценности.👍🤘❤️
Wow ! Thank you so much Paul !
No drug addicts here=you are not allowed to be famous.
Maybe Kings X never achieved the level of success that other bands did because they are CONSERVATIVE and MORALLY CORRECT. The left was always against them but they won they are still here.
FOGHAT Kicking Butt
Doyle higher than a mf here
So glad I saw this, Steve Marriott, my all time favourite, The Best, Thank you,
LOVE THIS! The live CD of this show is on near constant rotation
I never realized what a monster slide dude was. We used to jam on Fool For The City all the time. Foghat forever!!!
Those guys could jam. Great songs.
