This man is a gem lol
he must be protected at all costs!
RTX HDR is a gem. Its not perfect but it kicks the shit out of windows auto hdr
Just found your channel as I got an hdr monitor and I was trying to figure out how to get it to work with older games.
Your videos have been invaluable in learning what to do, with no BS. Thanks brother.
been saying this to my friends as well! they dont understand or use hdr been feeling so crazy. so happy you dropped this! bravo!
It's all good man focus on your studies and life! RUclips is a great hobby and your channel has exposed a ton of new tools and utilities to me and many others to make our hobby a better and more enjoyable experience :D You could always upload and share your musical talent from time to time if you want to keep active but RUclips tends to hate when you try steer your channel in multiple directions haha.
All the best man I'm sure you'll nail your exams!
I appreciate you, too. Thanks!
Ok I finally figured out how to get the RTX HDR working right. The mistake I was making was guessing on the sliders then launching the game. The result of that is always crap because all the sliders need to be in the right spots for it to look right. I finally found if you press alt z in game the RTX menu comes up and you can adjust it while playing the game. Each game needs a slightly different settings but, here is what I'm using on an average SDR only game that doesn't have good range to begin with. Peak Brightness 1000, middle greys 60 contrast 45 saturation 70. With these settings I can get dramatically better range and colors. It looks so much better than SDR and it looks orders of magnitude better than broken HDR
Nice! Thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you soo much for all the coverage you do, seriously you're helping people understand and enjoy HDR which is something a lot of people payed for and don't use!
The point of HDR is to present a more life-like picture with more details opposed to SDR. It's not about colour saturation per se
Maybe so but that is the HDR I don't like, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a perfect example, sure it makes the game look more like a wild west film but it's dull and bland horrible hdr in my opinion
if the HDR makes the image look washed out then it's not proper HDR...
I don't even own anything that supports HDR and watched the full thing, great content👍
Thanks! I try to make it one cut raw, real, no script.
Ariel did you check sharpness setting std 30 and fps preset 10? And if yes are they looking the same ?
I just tested RTX HDR on RDR2 and got it working properly. Holy cow it looks much brighter. Highlights are showing everywhere. It will take some time getting used to. I’m using the standard 1000 nits peak brightness even though my LG C1 is 800 nits.
I'd lower the peak brightness to 800 for HGIG to prevent clipping
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Alright, I’ll see if I find a way to reduce it in the Nvidia app.
Good luck with the move and I've had an S90C for the past 3 weeks and really been loving it so I think you would like one as well
S90C gang
That's the one I was thinking of getting
So what is better to use HGIG or Dtm off, dtm off jn pther modes seems brighter. What option should i choose?
I would go Game Optimizer mode with HGIG
Ariel currently I am using Filmmaker mode dtm off and I set hdr peak brightness accordingly. The reason is fmm is brighter them Game optimiser and with web os 24 you can you fmm or any other mode with game optimiser on. So the input lag is the same. I wanted to ask you what is the difference between using hgig 800 nits and fmm 1000 nits? Also why should I maximise hdr peak brightness in dtm off but not set it to 1000 nits( closer to actual tv peak brightness)
Cinema Home and Vivid are the brightest modes. The input lag will be higher than pure Game Optimizer even if you check that box, but it's probably good enough.
The reason to max the ingame peak brightness slider is to prevent double tone mapping (lowering the slider in game means the game is doing tone mapping th3n TV tone mapping OFF 1000 does tone mapping again)
Yo i just found your channel when looking for some C1 tuning advice and man am i glad i did. Youre a wealth of knowledge and you have the best thumbnails in the business 😂. Seriously, im a very basic dude and just writing with paint over a screenshot is exactly what i would do 😂
It takes one minute 😁
Hey any help with HDR on Resident Evil 2 Remake? It is broken on that game it seems..
Also whenever i use autohdr force by ledoge and use lillium hdr analysis tool it shows me completely different graph on the top left which makes it hard for me to get perfect black levels, i think its not detecting hdr color space and showing sdr graph numbers
Yes, the HDR analysis tool doesn't work for Auto HDR
RE2 might have some fog effect ruining the black level sometimes.
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Thanks, also I have one more question :D when using "MajorPainTheCactus" reshade and "lilliums black floor fix" should i use it before or after the inverse_tonemapping for best/most accurate results?
What sharpness setting did you use man in this video?
std Sharpness 0
Saludos hermano! Voy a chequearlo a ver que tal
For 1000 nits games is it better to use hgig or Dtm off in cinema home?
It's up to you. The C1 outside of Game Optimizer Mode is almost unusable for gaming
Do you know if RTX-HDR fixes the gamma curve? So if I enable HDR in Windows 11 and play an SDR game, the colors look off with the standard HDR color profile, but HDR games look fine. If I use the corrected color profile here, the SDR game looks good, but the HDR games will have crushed detail. If I use RTX-HDR on an SDR game, which color profile do I use?. Does RTX-HDR automatically fix the gamma for the SDR game converting into RTX-HDR?
For RTX HDR use the HDR calibration app profile. The Gamma looks correct regardless of originally SDR 2.2 or sRGB

Ariel I wanted to ask you, what sharpness should i set to get like pc sharpness if you know what i mean, like dlls quality. On ps5 it looks different then on PC. When iI was playing ac mirage the sharpness was off, not only in ac mirage but in many other games and I don’t mean TAA, the image quality is better on PC. Of course. But I mean how can i get the same picture at least sharpness. Thank you.
If it looks soft try Game Genre FPS Sharpness 10 and lower Color depth to 46 (FPS increases saturation)
Ariel so what is the difference of using dtm off vs hgig Am i losing something or is it better to use dtm off other modes to get more brightness in highlights ?
HGIG hard clips (no compression on the highlights)
LG should allow all the performance on Game Optimizer mode, and they don't, that's nonsense. Regular TV watching has logos all the time like games do
What sharpness setting would you recommend Ariel for 1080p games?
Try Game Genre std Sharpness 15
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 why std?
Off topic
But do you know any way to get rid of color banding on the c1? I'm using pc input with game optimizer on ps5
Color banding is mostly on the content. It is true that some TVs have better native gradation but the most obvious color banding that most complain can't be fixed by any TV unless you turn on some processing or the TV is always processing regardless of the settings (it is better raw).
On the PC we have Reshade to fix color banding but it has some downsides

Hey buddy what are your thoughts on the new Nvidea settings didital vibrance? I tired the rtx hdr and for me it's washed out, looks like crap but the digital vibrance wow very impressed in several games so far
Digital Vibrance is not working with RTX HDR. It seems to be designed to work with SDR only because it looks broken in HDR
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Right, I have been using Sdr alot, I have found digital vibrance Sdr looks much better than broken hdr
Ariel when should i use sharpness? Only for taa games? Many people recommend to set it on 0 but on console its not like on the pc, you can’t have 4k and 60 fps with ray tracing on. When should i use sharpness then?
I'd try Game Genre FPS Sharpness 10 for those blurry TAA games
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 but for other games 0 right?
rtx hdr will probably be updated again down the road to fix some issues with it on a 4080 and cant say ive noticed a fps loss
What is the reason behind using std sharpness 15 for 1080p content vs using fps sharpness 10
STD Sharpness 10 is antialiasing and FPS Sharpness 15 is more Sharpness
Ariel on previous comment you told me to try ftda -5 to -16 in guardian of the galaxy. First thing I want to ask you is what value you would use on the pc if you didn’t use reshade? The second question is that how can I fix black level raise without crushing details.
Lower the black level as much as possible without crushing details
Sometimes, the fog effects make the games look grayish and look like raised blacks
I have been digging your videos for some time now after discovering RTX HDR, i was really sad with the performance hit and the fact that you cannot use LosslessScaling in the same time(big bummer)
So far my best experience is using the MajorPainThaCactus addon with Liulium HDR analysis tool and inverse tonemapping Reshade fx (for non native HDR games) and is the best experience so far! I want to give a try now to ledoge Force Win11 AutoHDR(cuz most of the MP games don't allow use of Reshade)
I wanted to take a few minutes to thank you for you constant release on very good piece of information that deffinetly made me consider HDR instead of SDR
So Thank you
That's right. Thanks you!
What will using fps sharpness 10 will do to 4k content?
Antialiasing
Hello Ariel! God bless you man. Suggestion: Talk about Helldivers 2, its HDR, etc. The game is AMAZING and many creators content are very happy about how solid is its audience.
Thanks 👍
What Nvidia did with RTX HDR was amazing. For me they delivered. I am good with I am getting with it. Very easy to turn on and off. No time spent to calibrate, etc.
I can see Jensen saying: "RTX HDR was a home run"
You pretty much summed up the actual state of HDR on PC and yes, it is plain insane to see many games not implementing HDR natively so we as consumers can enjoy it to the fullest. Hopefully this will change. I personally are too lazy and use Windows AutoHDR and switching ICC profiles. I do not want to loose frames by using Nvidia's solution and setting up Reshade for every game can be a major pain :-) Thus I am very thankful for Windows Auto HDR.
You could explore (PC)VR a bit more if you don't know what else to do. There are probably also some hidden gems or unknown features somewhere to be found ;-)
major pain, i see what you did there lol. can you explain the windows hdr method to me? im reaching the same point as you and im getting sick and tires of how finnicky and poorly coded reshade is and how it doesnt work in like 80% of games i try it in. i wanna try a simpler solution, im done with reshade.
@@scragglie yes, "major pain the cactus" is still the best .. but, as mentioned, I am due to lazyness just using Windows Auto HDR in combination with the gamma corrected ICC Profile by Dylan Raga you see the download link for in PlasmaTV4Gaming's description for this video. You can force AutoHDR on eyerything and receive nice blacks. For the most part I use Dynamic Tone Mapping from my TV as HGIG seems to be unsupported by most games. I am really happy with the "pop" I receive out of most games. Red Dead Redemption 2 for example was the same effect like Assassin's Creed Valhalla. It's such a huge difference.
I tried Nvidia RTX HDR but even tough it's good, the perfomance penalty is not worth it as I also use DLDSR for older (and even some new) games anyway (and RTX HDR is not usable together with DLDSR)
Long story short: Grab the ICC Profile from the download link and set it up according to your display's HDR brightness and stick to using Windows Auto HDR with it.
do you have a fix for windows 10 HDR is CRU good or there is something better ?
Use Reshade and the Lilium shaders. Also I strongly recommend Win11 for HDR

Thank you in advance and good luck with your channel...
Turn HDR off in the game, then RTX HDR ON
Hey. Did the HDR in AC Valhalla get fixed by using RTX HDR?
RTX HDR is always spot on. The HDR ingame has to be turned off to use RTX HDR
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Oh? In the game settings? I didn’t know that. I got HDR on in windows settings and auto HDR off. I got to try again and see if I can spot the difference.
Ariel sometimes games don’t have black level raise but they still look washed out. For example guardians of the galaxy is has a small black level raise that can be fixed with ftda-5( gaming tech recommendation) but the game still looks washed out and problem is not only with guardians but with some other games too. How can i fix that, what is your recommendation man? Can you explain in depth please. I am really trying to understand.

Would love to see a comparison in depth just like you do on your channel of autohdr from windows and rtxhdr from nvidia. Personally, I find autohdr to be not as oversaturated as rtxhdr and I like it more as of now.
I really like RTX HDR, hope they fix compatibility and performance and will go for it (don't mind performance that much if I can forget about tweakings). It does not work in many games (tried to enable it by game, globally and manually) so I have it disabled and I am using Reshade mostly (autoHDR or tuning native HDR) as I work a little adjusting the first time I run a game... I NEED UNIVERSAL HDR!
If Native isn't worth fixing I'd go MajorPainTheCactus scRGB, if it doesn't work then force AutoHDR
Ariel in fps preset in game optimiser default sharpness is set to 25 and color depth to 65. Thats why fps preset is more colourful and sharper in lg c1. I have web os 24. So what sharpness should i set in new update then? Should it be 35 ? Or leave it on 25? Setting it to 10 makes the same changes line in std preset.

FPS is increasing the color depth even with the same color depth (like 4 clicks higher)
Sharpness changes in FPS vs STD even at 0

Wow, that's amazing

@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Yup, and the new panel is the EVO version, slightly different calibration it seems. And maybe more resistant over time.
The default in-game tone mapper isnt so great. I set it to 4000 nits and used Lilium's tonemapper to make it better. But the black levels are not great either and no way to adjust contrast in hdr mode. Its not really raised blacks but the game just doesnt have a lot of contrast. I used liliums black floor fix or adjusted the black level in the tonemapper to make it darker. Not the best solution though.

I am following you for a bit and your videos are awesome even if they are too much for me😅. I’m planning to get a c4 42” as monitor, but I have a doubt:
Do you have BFI always enabled on your tv? And HGIG profile too or you only enable it when playing games or watching HDR content?
Sorry for those stupid questions but I’m not seeking the perfect image quality, I’m more an average user which only care about getting the MUST HAVE settings enabled on TV secret menu and windows than tweaking with curves in reshade ecc…
I mean, I just want a decent image quality for every game or content (HDR/SDR).
Thanks
The C2,3,4 don't have 120bfi, only 60 and that might flicker for you to always have it on.
I use DTM with BFI and HGIG for non BFI

I switched to AMD this last year and it's really good quality and performance but I miss nVidia software. RTX HDR looks incredible when you can use it. I have to rely on Windows 11 automatic HDR for a majority of titles and it's just not great.

The quest 2 is a great buy to get into VR. I'll invest in a better one after I figure VR out
Looks oversaturated, but ah... in this video the game looks plenty bright on my TV (Sony Z9F). But I suppose HDR can be finnicky depending on the TV. In some cases it makes OLED shine, in other cases great LEDs or MiniLEDs crush it. For me RTX HDR simply doesn't work properly. It just makes everything look dark and off. Windows Auto HDR and just native HDR work just fine, it's the RTX HDR that doesn't work properly (not for videos and not for games either). Auto HDR seems to be a bit of a trade off sadly, in some games it just looks better. But in most games some stuff looks better while other things look off so I instead opt to play without HDR to at least get a picture that doesn't feel off.
It looks a lot worse in person. My camera is making it look a lot brighter than it is
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 I guess there's that as well yes. Honestly such a shame that HDR currently is such an inconsistent thing. Not true when HDR is broken , when it is well implemented Ofc native HDR anyday. Your be surprise to see fake HDR implementation in some games.
For example Ghost recon breakpoint/hitman 3 has fake hdr. The HDR analysis from reshade doesn't even detect HDR in those 2 games.

@AnimeUniverseDE if you have to force something in? How is it real? Hitman 3 look washed out af can't even get peak brightness to 1k nits. Black flooring doesn't fix all games. In dark scene it crushed alot of black on some games.
