As someone who was gifted a RF P300-12 and has zero experience in the car audio profession. I have a lot of respect for you and this video. Although I have no idea how to install this myself or understand any of the terminology you used, I appreciate your work. With that being said, I will now resort to paying someone to install this for me. Thank you.
Take your time, you can do it..
@@tstorcz How long does the install on this Jl Audio self powered sub take? I’m getting one installed tomorrow morning and they are charging $100 per hour labor and quoted me it will take four hours. But when I talked to Crutchfield they estimates two hours max. What sonhou think is a reasonable amount of time for a professional to install this to a stock head unit on my 2023 Subaru WRX? Thank you kind sir.
Did you get an expert to install it?
Thank goodness you got a six speed. Good job on car and on system. Hope you like your car and still going strong
so crazy I just bought a ‘19 civic today and was looking at these powered subs. glitch in the matrix
The new 8" ported version is also impressive!!
I have this sub in my 2003 ford focus (about the same size as a civic) and ot hits really hard a lot harder than I was expecting.
Lol he kept his rockford from rocking back an forth xD
Great video this was very helpful actually
How does this speaker sound in the trunk as the driver? I'd love to give this sub a shot, but I'm very new the car audio world. I have a longer sedan and I'm worried about the sub being effective to me in the front seat from all the way back there.
This set up is impressive. You can fell it all within the car. The sus is turned up only about 1/3 of the way.
Where did you purchase the speaker splicers that come off of the back speakers?
Did you leave the factory sub hooked up?
Thanks for the great video, I am ordering everything today.
Everything for the wiring was got off amazon. This links are in a prior reply.
Yes, I did leave the factory sub hooked up. I didn't mess with that at all.
oh shit. i just switched it to high input and it bangs, what's the difference between remote and audio though? both receive signals.
Sick does it matter where u put the rcas? Because it seems to easy haha, I have. 2020 si and same sub, trying to do it myself in this week
I ran all the cables ( wires ) along the drivers side and to the back.
You sound exactly like Dan Aykroyd!
I've been told Chris Farley at times.
Where did you get the pieces that splice into the factory speaker wires?
Amazon, here is the link. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CMC5DII/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I wish the hookup was easy on a Toyota Rav 4, I literally can't get the wire to go through a small rubber grommet located underneath the glove compartment. Im just gonna get it professionally installed.
Can you go through the inner fender then through a door gromet to the inside? Not familiar with a RAV 4 . Just a thought.
Great video! Did you have to disconnect the Bluetooth function in your car? The reason I ask is because the installer informed me it is likely I will not have BT when the sub is installed.
No, bluetooth works just fine, You are not taping into any connections from the deck at all.
This thing is nice and I had mines in my SUV but only lasted about 5 years. Then it just went out.
god telling you too upgrade to crazy system lol
I’m just curious since it has audio detection and there’s not a need for a ignition wire couldn’t you just tie into the back speakers? And save the trouble of taking the radio apart?
Absolutely. it can be done this way.
Can you hear the car rattle from the outside? Did you use any dynamat or anything?
No Dynamat installed, You can feel the car vibrate but no real rattling. This is a great sub, I have it turned up about 1/2 way and that is plenty.
Is it better to face the subwoofer towards the trunk? Or towards the driver ?
Facing backwards because the sound bounces off the trunk and back window.
When I tap into the rear speaker, can I just get the signal from the one speaker instead of both and twist each of the rca wire together?
That should work just fine, just need the signal.
So if you unplug the sub you won’t blow the amp?
Edit: want to install one and integrate it into the pioneer system in my challenger.
The amp is built into the sub box, so unplugging the sub , unplugs the amp also. No harm.
Good vid. Thanks.
Oh shit! It's Drew Carey!
love handa si
Can I just tap in speakers and run speaker wires into the highinput?? I don't want too tap in and run into rcas.
Yes, that should work fine. Follow the Subwoofer instructions. They you would not use the RCA inputs, but the supplied input with the subwoofer kit.
Good 👍 ASS job Brudda ✌.
Could you list all the wiring components used for this setup? Thanks!
Amazon; Pretty much all you need.

@@boogzalpha859 Fantastic with no issues, I also have this in my other Son's 2019 Honda Civic Sport. Great Sub...See link: ruclips.net/video/XsVSJ7TyPMs/видео.html

@@gustavogo2915 You shouldn't have to take out the head unit at all if they are tapping into the signal from an existing speaker. Now if they are going to take the signal from the head unit that would take longer because that would have to come out then. I'm not a professional so it took me longer, but I think a few hours is sufficient if not removing the head unit.
2:52 When you look exactly like you sound
I have the same sub you know what amp it has? I believe mine came defective, but I can’t return it since it’s passed the return date. You know if it’s possible if I can switch the amp out for a new one if I open it?
Not sure on that, I would contact Rockford on that. Or at least find the spec on that 300 watt amp. I know it's a mono amp but i would think it could run at 2 ohms.
@@tstorcz oops I meant the 500 watt not 300 but I tried opening it I got the screws off the actually speaker i don’t know what type of tool I need I don’t know if you know?
I don't, I have not had to open mine up. the 300 and 500 are the same except for the wattage. Mine has run flawless. I am sorry. Call Rockford. I'm sure they have customer service that can help.
How do I connect it to Bluetooth if it was setup already with previous owner
That should be in the settings of your factory radio. It should be in the owners manual how to do that and pair you phone.

Hey man really nice job done. I also have 19 civic si and I was thinking of doing the same. And also is that clicking sounds from Engine normal?
Not sure what you are referring to as a clicking sound? I don't get that.
Jus bought one & installed it on my 2019 Honda CR-V but I’m wondering what do I have to Do to stop it From Killing My Actual Car Battery ? …. I guess my Box didn’t turn off when The car Shut off
You don't have it wired right. There is a blue wire that can be used for the amp on the box. This needs to wire into the Remote On/ Off from the deck. If you are not sure better take it into a stereo place to have checked out. You will burn up the amp from having it on all the time.
My sub came with a grey remote wire. If you have an aftermarket stereo head unit, they usually have a remote wire connection to plug external subs. That let's the sub know when to turn on and off. If not, find another source of power that stays on when the ignition is on, and when the car turns off, the sub does too
@@algebruh_m8652 When the wire is tapped into the speaker leads like I did, you don't need that wire when the sub in on the proper setting. It will recognize the signal from the speaker tap to turn the amp on and off. It's in the instructions.
@@tstorcz Mine also comes with that option, it turns on when it detects signal from the RCA cables right? Tried to use that option when my remote wire was disconnected because I was messing around with the head unit but no matter what I did the subwoofer did not turn on. Had to open up the head unit panel and reconnect the remote wire
No you actually would get the turn on signal from the wire you tap into from the speaker. Another option you cand get a wire harness kit for your make a model car and plug into the head unit and then the factory wiring. This would be a plug and play wire kit that would give you a turn on signal wire that then you could use the wire provided to turn on the amp. You can see I have NO RCA cables plugged into mine because I tapped into the speaker wires. I never took out the head unit.
Wowwwww
Do I have to tap into my rear speakers tho?
Yes, that sends a low voltage signal to tur the amp on and off. This way you don't have to tap into anything behind the deck/ head unit.
Sweet handaa
thank you
How did you secure it?
The sub comes with Velcro to put on the bottom. That keeps it from sliding. Then I fastened a couple of tie down D-ring fasteners to the top corners of the back of the box. Used a couple of 15" ( good quality ) bungee cords, crossed them ( like an "X" ) and hooked them to a couple of opening circles on the back deck. Also put one D-hook at the center ( top/ back ) of the box and another screwed into the top metal deck. Used some hard wire ( like a twist tie ) to keep it from rocking back. The box ix very secure. Here is the link for the D-hooks. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079DQ55SH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Stop the video at 2:44 and you can see it.
I'm sure it would sound better with some actual music
Actually, for what this cost and the ease of the install it is really pretty awesome no matter what the music.
aren't the speaker signals already filtered?
No LOW the signal is filtered through sub box once it comes in.
@@tstorcz But if the sub/amp is getting signal from one of the door speakers and the door speakers are part of a component set?
@@mydearriley It doesn't matter where the speaker signal come from into the bow. because the box turns it into a low pas signal to power the sub. Now if you use the rear speakers as a signal into the bow you can control the signal from the head unit as fading from front speakers to rear. If you tap off the sub that comes with the car, you can control that signal into the box as you would the original sub.
@@tstorcz I just realized that my head unit may actually have a sub out signal wire... That'd be best right?
@@mydearriley Correct that is even better. Then just run an RCA red and white cable from the head unit back to the sub. You will need a remote turn on signal from the head unit to turn on the amp in the sub. Usually a blue wire.
Well the way you have that box tied up i dont think youd want to take it in and out on a regular basis. You should’ve done some velcro instead. Just saying.
Velcro on the bottom there is, strapped on the top. It is easy to take out if needed. You need the straps on the top because it will rock on acceleration, even with the velcro on the bottom.
No sound test 🤨
Trust me this thing rocks and hits hard.
Why wouldn't you just tap into the subwoofer
You could do that also, for me it was easier the way I did it.
Does this thing kick ass?
Sounds amazing, so good I put one in my other sons 2019 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback. Here is that link. ruclips.net/video/XsVSJ7TyPMs/видео.html
I have the P300 10T in a 05 Mercedes C230 and even the 10 rocks hard and hit clean lows. I'm going to install the P300 12T into my Colorado soon! Great all in one amp/sub.
