World is my first monster hunter game and even I knew uragaan came first, mostly cuz I've always wanted to play(and playthrough vids of previous monster hunter games) the series but I had an xbox instead of a playstation or ds or Wii u.

It was actually pretty easy, used Greatsword for most of the game, used hammer for early Guild and then went back to Greatsword.
Used Ash Lao Shan's SnS to kill Fatalis.

edit: I highly recommend watching a short guide for each weapon but generally if you want to play bow gun you have to optimize the ammo type, each BG have a different ammo type and ammo stats like the total ammo of each type, their recoil, reload speed etc. What you want is not to have a weapon that could use all ammo but a weapon that could use one or two ammo effectively
Your weapon for example seems to be a 7 rarity Nergigante HBG, I think the 9* upgrade is pretty good, it has better attack stat but im pretty sure the ammo stat is the same or similar
it is good for spread lvl 3, so you need to focus on making spread 3 work. Customize your bowgun to get a *shield* (very important, so you don't have to dodge/roll and could block dmg) and 2 close range dmg boost. Spread is really good on close and piece is for ranged, ignore all other ammo type and just use spread for now, and try to get gem / armor skill to upgrade your spread. Dont forget to customize your radial menu to make crafting easier and bring material for spread 3 ammo or you have to go back to the camp every time you run out of ammo
Learn the rest by playing, this should get you decent enough result for now
another edit 19:30 element is only good for fast weapon unfortunately, so you better off going with raw most of the time, especially on greatsword, the dmg type and element mechanic wasn't explained well so it's understandable.

-when nobel flips you in the air you can use your mounting move!
-use THE FUCKING RADIAL MENU FOR POTIONS/CRAFTING/GESTURES/EVERYTHING
-use buffs and sharpen BEFORE you go in
-use wedge beetles to get around and ez mounts
-there is a bowgun customizer with 'percs' to equip

As a hammer main, this is such a wholesome video to watch zanny just bonk all the monters.
As an insect glave main I can say it's so easy to use. The defender variant stays sharp for almost a whole fight and it's good for solo players like me who can't use slow weapons.
