The way they explained it is that elemental CB’s dont benefit from critical boost as the elemental damage wont get added to a crit if the raw value is higher than elemental which it always will be. If you use artian, nami, or critical element than you can also use critical boost on elemental CB’s
its funnier to grind for that weapons and use them tbf and in the end, it doesn't matter that much, maybe a couple of minutes difference maybe mh6 will do it like sunbreak, where every elemental is better than raw. at least this should be normal for every weapon imo. raw is easier to use, because you only would use one weapon but then you are a bit weaker than with elemental weapon. but for stronger elemental weapons, you would have to farm more, to have the weapons. this way it would be perfect

A tip mr zanny, if you click RT B (on xbox) mid combo, you will do a counter, if you land the follow up to this counter it will fill you gauge, and if you click RT after that, it will push you to the next spirit level, extremely useful, especially for movesets you have downloaded
Zanny please allow me to suggest that you use the move jnown as: Foresight Slash. This move allows you to completely negate an attack that would have hit you and also fills up your spirit gage. Allowing for an instant round slash (The attack that makes you go from white to yellow etc) Thus making it vastly easier to get to the incredible Destiny Starslice.
People have already talked about foresight slash, so I'll tell you about another really handy longsword technique. After any attack, press RT+A to have your hunter enter a special iaijutsu sheathed stance. While in the stance you have two follow up options. Press Y to perform a quick double slash, that if it hits will give you a buff that automatically charges your meter for free over time. Press B to spend 1 spirit gauge for an iai quickdraw slash that has a ton of i-frames and hyperarmor, and if you correctly time the draw you get refunded back the spirit gauge. Also, you can press RT+A to enter that stance even after the spirit gauge combo or after destiny star slice, which is a nice way to keep the momentum going by either refreshing the auto-charge buff or prepping to dodge a monster's attack.
It’s also funny because a big part of the Lord’s Prayer that he was praying is a sentiment of “Let Your will be done.” And God’s will for Zanny is to screw with him lol.
A useful tip that I highly recommend is there is a special mini game in Seliana where you can dump your ore and some points for a crap ton of items. If you get a specific item you can get any monster gem:rare material you want as long as you killed that monster at least once. I think it’s called celestial wyvernianprint or something? You can only get it in that mini game. It’s located near the canteen and forge. Not In the gathering hub. Also I was the guy who called the blackveil armour bad btw.
As someone who literally played this game for 5 minutes and realized it wasn't my speed, im so glad you kept up these Monster Hunter vids like clockwork. Watching you just dip dip potato chip on these momsters *is nothing short but peak entertainment.*

I remember doing this quest with multiple groups when it first came out. I don't know what why or how but in the last area the fight gets fucking insane, balls to the walls, pile driving madness. We'd do so many runs that were flawless UNTIL we get to that last area in what's already been a 20-30 minute and then we get triple carted. It really does become about survival in that last area.
hammer would be even better if it had the option like in rise, where you can change your moves with this yellow/blue symbol under your health bar. so you dont have to stay still for the big bonk

You're lucky you're playing this now. Velkhana's tail on release had the hit box the size of the Sun and lingered after the attack so that, if you even looked at it wrong, you still took full damage.
I do remember that the game immediately throws you outta a session if you have bad fps/ fps drops, though Monster Hunter World connections have never failed me on PC, even cross continent.
Fulgur Anjanath is actually nomadic, it doesn't live in the Hoarfrost Reach. Rajang is also a monster known for being in arctic climates, but also being weak to ice.
Zanny i suggest using the new Iai (sheathing) moves. Not only are they really cool, but they also make it easier to do the incredible destiny star slice. Iai slash slowly fills up the meter when it hits a monster, and the other is an anime slice with a really small amount of i-frames that works like the foreslight slash, albeit much harder to hit. If you negate an attack and hit the monster, you'll instantly go up one on the slash meter thing (ex: from yellow to red) while also doing a decent amount of damage. TLDR: The Iai moves make it, when used right, child's play to get to the red meter. Try it out in the training area
Im currently playing iceborne and just finished the fulgur anjanath.. i have to say, except some exceptions (the new legiana) its really fun, and im really excited for the real velkhana fight

If you enjoyed fighting Velkhana I think you may enjoy doing the Archtempered version, also plz do Raging Brachy and Alatreon, they are my favourites. I play a lot of MH and think you are pretty good btw!, try bow out (maybe Insect Glaive or Charge Blade too) it’s a ton of fun and doesn’t have as much ammo management as the bowguns do.
That session shit is SOOOO REAL. Me and my friend would sometimes try for HOURS with no avail but when it work it was better than the day god was reincarnated.

Hey Zanny, just a tip for you if ya want to know how to mount monsters easier. There’s a little trick with glider mantle, you would want that equipped, clutch claw onto the monster then immediately jump off by pressing A. You should start gliding and can go for an air strike, do that enough times you can get a mount. P.S. keep up the good work!

May i suggest mr toozanny man that you can actually combo the hammer into a grapple that spins the hammer, then tenderize, simply do the 123 combo of the hammer or right after the sliding rolling thingy attack then press the button for grapple to instantly latch onto the monster, just a suggestion
