At 6:00 minutes in to the video, you go to the second site (domain) dashboard and there is a domain mapping in that site's tools. There is NOT one for me. I followed your set up EXCEPT that I use bitnami's stack in AWS. It's the latest greatest but does not follow your set up. Also, when I tried to set up a domain name on the root site's settings/domains, it allows me to enter a domain and save, but nothing shows up - like it was not added. Ideas?
i checked this plugin but its not updated from 3years ? and when i installed it is required me to pur SUNRISE On in file ? is there any plugin for the same ?
Thank you, niec tutorial, I have one uqestion. If we have multisites in wordpress do we get the same database for every one of them? if they do, does it slow the load speed?
Depends on where you get your certificate from. I use letsencrypt which provides free certs. They are just as good as the certs you get from premium solutions. You would then just need to go through the process of setting it up. I believe I have a few videos on how to set up an SSL cert on the channel. Let me know if they help. Thanks for watching.
Very good, but a small question, I have to do something in the genre, and I have been researching the subject, and according to what I realized, the use of plugins to mapping from version 4.5 is a bit unnecessary since it can be done without the use of plugins. So what's the big difference using this plugin? Thanks for the help and I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
Ok I just confirmed in the support page (wordpress.org/support/topic/howto-domain-mapping-without-a-plugin-instructions/) that really the use of the plugin is no longer necessary to achieve this .... sorry for the inconvenience, but the subscription is left as I've been snooping on the channel and have some good tips. Thank you
Hey, glad you found information on it. For some reason the comment was in the spam folder. Probably because of the link to the WordPress Website. I just approved the comment. Sorry for the delay.
Great Videos. I got Multisite up and running on my system thanks to your help. Do you have (or can you make) a video on how to map these subsites to point to an individual URL using the WP innate mapping features rather then using the WP MU domain mapping plugin? From my reading this is the way to go....just don't know how to do it...yet. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and teaching people like me!!!!!!!
Hi, yes, you really don't need the plugin anymore but some people still like using it. I am planning a new, better video demonstrating WordPress Multisite and will include that.
Hi Lisa, thanks for watching the video. WPMU is well known for their expertise with Multisite but this plugin is a good alternative. Technically, you can also do this without using a plugin at all. It's a little technical but it's on my list of videos to create as part of my Advanced WordPress Multisite Videos Playlist. I'll probably acquire a few additional domain names for the demonstration and show the full process. I have a few other videos in the pipeline, which include a Master Series on WordPress Theme Development, WordPress Plugin Development, Advanced WordPress Management, Making Money with WordPress, Running a WordPress Centric Business and others. As you can see, my plate is full lol. So if you're interested in any of these topics, along with WordPress Multisite, definitely consider subscribing and hit the notification icon so you'll know when I release new videos.
I've come across this same problem. I think the reason is that Hostinger does not allow wildcard subdomains, therefore you have to create your own subdomain every time before creating a new site
You install it in the main site, and through the network dashboard, you can choose to enable themes and plugins network wide. There’s more too it and I should make a more in depth video on this. I’ll try and put together something soon. Let me know specifically what you think I should cover.
I have a couple of videos that I’m editing and getting ready to upload on freelancing as a web developer, so after those are done, I’ll start recording a new multisite video.
Thanks for a very good, detailed explanation that helped me get my external domain mapped to my site in no time at all!
Awesome, glad it helped. Checkout my other videos on Multisite and let me know your thoughts.
Hi. What if I have local host and I want to use your IP plugin to map my domain to my localhost? Please help

Glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching.

HI. IS this plugin a good alternative to the WPMU Dev domain mapping plugin?

This plugin hasn't been updated very long. Currently not compatible with newer WP versions.
hello ! i like ur videos , very helpful , i install domain mapping and now doesnt want to work wordpress , can u help me please :)
hi if I use this system, how does it work for plugin licenses? there's no need to install plugins in every folder, right?

Hi! Thank... It would be great to have an updated guide. The plugin management, seo etc on multisite.
Is there a more updated method?
Not much has changed but there’s definitely more I could cover.
Ok... thank u! When can you do that ? :)
I have a couple of videos that I’m editing and getting ready to upload on freelancing as a web developer, so after those are done, I’ll start recording a new multisite video.
