I saw this movie when I was 17 in a dingy little movie theatre just off Picadilly Square in London in 1979. For a country boy, it was an eye-opener, but then so was London! Forty-two years later, this music brought back a LOT of memories! Thank you!

The saxofon is predominant and the drums subtle. You can practically experience the hypnotic and provocative essence of the city of New York through the eyes of Travis Bickle.
I watched this orchestra live in Malmo, Sweden and when this song came on I almost became teary eyed.. one of my favorite compositions and I got to see it live.
Boy, I'd forgotten about the "Henry Mancini" jazz saxophone and big-band part that starts just after the 1 minute mark. I remember when I saw the movie thinking about the contrast between that, and the garbage, traffic, street hustlers, hookers and all the rest of it that made up the world where the movie characters spent most of their time. Brilliant music, and this is a brilliant presentation. Can't wait for more of the D.N.O.!
I agree when she is conducting you can sure tell the difference. Hard to describe it but without a doubt I hear it. There's nothing like watching the conductor and orchestra perform a classical piece of music or in this case, a memorable movie score, because a live performance makes one more fully appreciate all of the complexities and orchestrations that go into the creation of the score and the incredible talent of the musicians themselves.
