Another great vlog folks, both getting more and more off grid knowledge as the weeks go by. Please read up and get some knowledge on living and being around snakes! Identify what type it is first and take the appropriate actions if needed. Outdoor kitchen looking great and if it’s OK for you both, then it’s OK! Please stop thinking about what others may say/think about your work it’s what’s good for you both that counts. Keep the faith and continue looking after each other.
You’re doing an amazing job and I love the outdoor kitchen so far. I’m definitely rooting for you to be able to make your dreams come true and get to live a long happy life on your beautiful homestead.

Wow, your patio is looking amazing, well done both of you, can't wait for the rest of the out door kitchen to be started & you get a table & benches, it's gonna look amazing ❤❤❤❤
I think everybody before me has expressed my feelings about what you are doing, outstanding work from both of you, Portugal would be lucky to have two residents, such as yourselves, hard-working, honest people, not interested in buying land, developing it, and then flipping it for a profit. Keep up the great work. I’m so impressed with both of you. Cheers from Western Canada 🇨🇦
Thanks Stuart really means a lot and never take a comment like this for granted thanks for expressing. Yea we agree all we want is to be hear. We may have to sell tho if we cannot gain residency not what we want to do tho 💗 Sending you love also
I don’t know if you know “Mr and Mrs Adventure” they are also in Portugal and are going through what you are going through and they just started what they refer to as a 5 year journey to get dual citizenship.
I’m glad that you’re doing well; the temperatures throughout Europe have been concerning, and after your last video showing the potential for wildfires, I began to wonder if you were okay. I wonder if the snake will raise a little family of its own, in place of the rats? Is there someone locally who can identify the snake for you? Anyway, stay safe guys, much love for you & your little patch of earth ❤
There are no "killer" snakes in Portugal. At least that's what experts say. There are about 11 different snakes, some non-venomous, some venomous, but not really dangerous for humans. They can attack you and (some can) bite you of course. If they are cornered or feel that they are under attack. On the downside. Some people are allergic to snake venom, like some are allergic to bees or wasps. Also a small child or toddler theoretically could get hurt by (mild) snake venom because of their much smaller body size. To me it looked like a green snake, but i'm not sure because it was inside not in the bright daylight. If it is green it might be a Grass snake, they normally live close to the water, a river lake or pond.
@@petervermeer.4904 This is not true there is a poisonous snake in Portugal her name is Lataste's viper (Cobra cornuda). This snake a few years ago a boy with 10 years old from England in the Geres forest almost lost his life because this snake. The last know dead was 30 years ago one old man with 70 years die, but because he dont see the snake in the brambles and wait to long to search the hospital. The daughter reported that he had referred to a wasp and later in the autopsy it was discovered that it had been with the venom of this snake. They normally only live in mountains with lots of rocks. Very very rare to find them in a terrain like that, but is not impossible. The snake is very small i do think the maximum total length is 70cms, they hate using his venom to attack because they need him to hunt small rodents and birds. But yes in the last 30 years only one dead and a a dozen cases where people have their lives threatened. You can find the news of the boy if you make a search in google with "Snake bite drama in Penela: child in serious condition". Sorry my broken English.
Hi Both, As somebody who is in a similar position to you, but in Spain. (We literally arrived this week) one thing our solicitor told us was this… if you apply for a visa (or residency permit), once you’ve applied, you don’t need to worry about overstaying the 3 months. In fact, if you left applying until the last week of your 3 months, you can just stay on while the visa/permit is being dealt with, which can take ages. Also, our plan was to use the new digital nomad visa as we both work from home. I work for a Uk company and my wife is self employed. Turns out I was never able to get the DN visa as the company I work for would have to open an office in Spain. But what it has meant is that I am simply a dependant of my wife, who will be able to get the visa as self employed. The Portuguese DN visa requires just over £700 p/m income, but not from each of you. If you’re able to increase the revenue of these videos (or make more in order to generate more money), this should help with getting a residency permit. Also, once there you have the olives to sell, if you wanted? Good luck!
Cool Spain hope that goes so well for you and thanks for sharing all the informative information really good to read and thanks for sharing how you have navigated it all :) So not sure if Spain is same Portugal but with the way our self employment is structured the visa that we can only unfortunately go for is the Digital nomad visa. We are assessing all options but would take a complete resurrecting of our business, so lot going on ❤❤❤❤
Sorry, I’ve just noticed my mistake. It’s not £700 pm is it. It’s FOUR times that amount. Yikes! One other things which I believe is the same in Portugal as it is in Spain is to get your visa whilst IN Portugal as it lasts longer. Spain is 3 years. Getting our visa in the UK would have meant it only lasted 1 year. Finally, I would say this… I’m sure you have already, but get yourself a solicitor that makes everything easy to understand. We are currently on our third and she is excellent. She’s made everything much more “user friendly”, if that makes sense? No trying to circumvent the law by doing other things or things we weren’t happy with (like the previous 2). Again, good luck to both of you. I love watching your videos and what you’ve done with the place. If you fancy popping over to Valencia between November and January to help me with the olive harvest, I won’t say no! 😂
Good for you working with nature to solve your problems. That snake is happy for the food and will help you. Here in East Finland friends tell me that families used to encourage snakes to keep rats and mice down in barns ;)
Howdy Laura and Dan. Happy to see you happy and smiling. The floor looks amazing. Great job you too. Wishing you lots of luck and good health to both of you. You inspire so many. I would have enjoyed doing what you do if I were younger. Watching you two gives me joy. Take care and keep on chilin’. 🙃
@@theoriginhomestead not only does your way of living videos bring me joy, I wait for them. I work full time and can hardly wait until I get to see what you two are up to. Your land is beautiful and the swimming area is breathtaking. Stay cool and keep smiling because, tomorrow is a new day no matter what. 😎🙂
Hi Laura and Dan! A joy to see you both again! It was a very sweet "thank you" from you both. I am overjoyed and it is an honor to support you first in prayer, then love in Christ, and financially. I am so happy you are not burdened by finances. The stone floor looks so amazing! I think you did a great job! I cannot wait to see you both using the kitchen as you stand on top of your hard work. BIG SMILE! I love when you sit down and chat with us. The sun had a heavenly glow about it as the breeze surrounded you. Whatever decision you make about your future I am here to support you! Hey John hope you and your son well and family. Yes as you know walking the human path and making money is a difficult thing to navigate its one of them aspects in gods realm we have to navigate, find love and integrity through it. Not long now and the kitchen will be nearly there :) Yea for sure we will have to see how it all unfolds 😊❤❤ Sending you love too
Have you thought about setting up an account for the people that want to help with your cause and journey? You need more heavy equipments to make your job more efficient and faster. You make such lovely couple and we like to see you reach your goals faster!😍👍
OMG rats and snakes, the two most hated critters in the world, maybe they'll kill each other off. Maybe get yourselves a big rat hating kitty or two to chase off those scary rats. Such a great job accomplished on your stone patio/kitchen, hard work but you did it and will enjoy it. Each day we all learn something new.
I wonder if you can make money off of your fruit trees and grapevines ? Do you have cork trees ? This might help your income level to get your residency. Perhaps get chickens so you can sell the eggs etc .
You are both doing a great job! You are living a life that so many of us wish we had the courage to do . Remind people to like and subscribe Doing a great job!!
I wish I were young enough to do this type of thing. I thoroughly enjoy watching you two get along and both work hard to achieve your goals. I am rooting for you from across the pond :-)
Love u guys! Not easy being brave enough to live an off grid life, much respect. The kitchen floor looks awesome too! Hope all is well….. on the laaaaaaaaaand! ❤😂👍👍👍
You guys have come so far, just look at all that you've achieved together. Love your stonework and pointing around the outdoor kitchen and fire pit, it looked so good when you hit it with the pressure washer, i cant wait to see what you have planned next, my fingers are crossed that your dream will soon become your reality 🙏 PS.Wow, that was a hell of a snake, hopefully he gets rid of the rats and then remembers to leaves 😅
Hey Louise what a nice comment we feel so too :) Glad you like it and cannit wait to share more. us to and yea the hopefully the snake does the job ha ❤
How is your van sitting under the hot sun everyday? Will a covered shed help to protect it? A shed built beside the barn ? Just a thought 😅😊❤. Keep up the good work 😊.

If only you had decided on the move before the BREXIT deadline you would have been fine although I’ll always be keeping my fingers crossed for you. I’m a Brit living in Italy since 1969 long before you two were born. Stay positive, big hug’s CIAO
Hi guys, good vlog as usual. It must be so frustrating with the residency issues constantly hanging over you. The monthly income requirements have increased here in France aswell it used to be 650euros/ mth but that has more than doubled (per person) and they are probably going to bring in a language test soon. I know the Spain and Portugal figures are even higher , so when you are trying to live a simpler life you have to prove you are earning more than 30k a year! Crazy. Keep battling guys, youll find a way. Changing the subject, have you thought about growng quick growing crops? Salads like lettuce radish etc. It would be nice that the land provided you with some food. Take care of yourselves ❤ Shaun
Thanks so much for the lovely comment Shaun! We feel the same way about the income requirements. I hadn't thought of quick growing crops, I'll take a look and see what we can plant in the time we have on the land 🌸🌻
Laura and Dan, you're doing well! Life can throw curves and projects take more time than expected but in the long run, with work and some luck you'll have a beautiful place!! 💚
Some GREAT shots in this episode! You guys are getting it together. Good to see some critical thinking skills going into action! Laura try some raised beds or plant bags for some fresh veggies. You can have squash and peppers before you have to leave. Tomatoes and corn will take longer and may not have time to ripen. Leaf lettuce, mustard greens, collards, will all be pickable in less than 90 days. Worth a try at least once! Depending on customs, maybe you could even start the seeds BEFORE you get back to the land.
You deserve some really comfortable seats, instead of a plank, for sundowners 😉 Seriously poisonous snakes terrify me, but I've just had a browse and Portuguese snakes don't seem poisonous enough to kill humans, unless you have underlying cardio vascular issues. But walking through long grass and when moving stuff on the ground, are the dangers. I've been bitten by a British Adder - half a second of immobilising all over body shock, which drains away in an instant to be replaced by swelling and pounding at the bite site, which still feels swollen, 20 years later, but it isn't - the nerves are damaged and mis-signaling.
ha the wooden plank does us. And yes some are poisonous but its impossible to watch were they are at all times and no point living in fear if its going to happen its going to happen. Thanks for sharing and taking time to watch ❤
Talking about costs, I think it also depends on the country. For example having a car (or multiple cars) will have different costs based on the country. Stuff you can't grow/farm yourself you'll have to buy. Also don't underestimate the price of materials that you might need for renovating/building. That falls in the category upfront costs, and might be spread out. Then there are living costs as well, (health) insurances (which is sometimes obligatory depending on your location), and where I'm from we've a obligatory insurance on the house (in case of fire/storm/etc damages). Based on this I estimate that it would be helpful (but not necessary) to have at least a year of income after property costs. That way you'll have money to live of and budget for buying materials etc. But in the end it's impossible to formulate an answer that serves everyone's case.
Loved the video😊 You were talking about bills, do you not have a truck payment or insurance? And food can cost a lot! Especially these days😒 Love you guys!
I know everyone has said it… and I’m going to say it too. You are coming along so well. I couldn’t with that snake AND rats. Yikes! I am really bummed about the massive income requirement change too. I wish I had applied last year, but I missed the D7 boat. Will have to make it happen, as will you. Take care.
Just found you today. You're working hard and everything looks fantastic. When will you trim all the growth from around the trees? That would help trees and make property look nice. One tree a day maybe. When weather cools off
Fully empahising on the jetwash satisfaction...ive blasted a massive patio and a small swimming pool this last week, whilst its been pouring down in Zummerzet! Geddon, try a West country aaaacent, lol. The Outside kitschen is proper job coming together, your hard work is paying off...soon be time to invite friends around to cook up a feast and show it off. My hopes go with you to get the visa work sorted out, so you can spend more time in the place you are giving your hearts and sweat
Morning Dan & Laura, wow wow wow you have done such a wonderfully beautiful job on the outdoor kitchen the patio and fire pit love beautiful and the colours of the rock when wet are absolutely stunning I really look forward to seeing it in about 5-10 years when it’s aged in with mosses and other lichens and plants growing on it it will only get better and better with the time. This is hard to see when it looks so beautiful as it is but it will. Quick question but don’t answer if your wishing to surprise us later Are you going to cement flat rocks to the outside kitchen or are you going to render and paint it? I’ve been waiting for your snake friend to come on the show and it’s so funny to see it disappear into the wall.😂😂😂 Good luck with your residency though I’m sure you’ll be fine in the end but it’s a shame that they make you leave for so long thus preventing you from setting up a garden to grow your own food. But I’m sure you’ll succeed in the end. I’m now looking forward to next Wednesday evening. So it’s bye for now. Xx
Hey Martin thanks again as always for a beautiful comment ha you will have to wait and see but going to be epic ha And we completely agree. Yea figures crossed we will keep moving forward and see how it unfolds ❤❤
Love watching your videos. Can you, perhaps, share with us the cost of your land, what needs to be done with the building for you to be able to live in there, what the average cost is to travel from Uk to Portugal, what it’s like to drive there compared to Uk, what visa you have applied for and why plus what is causing the delay, what you need in order to complete it, how that will change things for you. Maybe some average food prices at the supermarket, take us shopping with you……..like a virtual tour through your eyes. Places to visit in and around your area. Are there any properties up for sale in or around your area. Can you recommend any estate agents or are their people selling their property privately (maybe you could earn some commission from finding a buyer for them). What about local holiday rentals? My husband and I are looking to come out in October to view some properties. Is there any areas that you would recommend buying or even avoiding. Honestly, the thought of actually make the leap is quite scary, hence so many questions as we’re trying to gather as much information and life experiences from people like yourselves to help us keep it real.
Thanks for the comment and all the ideas we have done a video with the cost of the land its actually called that in the title a few months ago. There is so much to cover and wont be able to do it in a full video and would also be boring for many who are not interested in coming out. We also havent got it all figured out we are just trying to figure it out along the way. Best thing i would say is come out 1st for a short break and explore speak to solicitors. We know a good one if you need help PM us at our email 💗
Hey guys. I’ve watched all of your videos in one day. Great job! I hope you stay in Portugal! I have a land near where you are… and I have a question… where is that river beach???
I see you take the time to answer most all the incoming comments. Shows your commitment to your viewers. Well done. I had a thought about your rats in the United States we often place mothballs (which are made of naphthalene) in and around locations we want to keep rodents out of. It works for me keeping rats and mice from getting in my vehicle's when parked long-term on the farm. A few under the hood or in a container sitting on the floor in the front of my pickup truck. No more chewed up wires. Thank you for sharing your journey with us
We try our best but sometimes its just impossible to answer them all with working and doing youtube and everything else but we will always do our best :) Thanks for sharing never heard of that will have to research it ❤❤
You could look into planting some broadbeans to grow over winter when there is rain to water them while you are away from the land, you might also be able to grow some things like lettuce and radish which grow quickly while you are there. In terms of the visa, I am guessing that the issue is the higher income for the digital nomad rather than the D7. I have seen some people suggest setting up a business to receive your income and being paid in dividends rather than as a salary qualifies for D7, so you could explore that, if it isn't already on your to do list. hopefully you will find some solutions in time, but just keep taking one step at a time.
Anyway, brilliant, you have a natural predator on your land, and he will certainly keep your rat population down. Snakes will always avoid humans, so don’t kill it. Back home on our farm we had no cats but lots of snakes like the green and black mombas, cobras, puff adders, and night adders and other snakes. The only snakes we were very wary of were the adders because they would sit on our pathways around our homestead, so we always wore gum boot type of shoes. About your fire pit, have you thought about using the stainless steel drum from an old tumble dryer. Cut the bottom out an inch or two from the edge all round and use steel mesh to allow the ash to fall through. Leave about 30cm. underneath for the ash pit and leave the width of a spade to collect the ash for your garden
Hey Tom yea we hope so ha :) nice thanks for sharing yea we would rather have snakes then rats and that is a great idea but ash is something we will defo be collecting. Have a great day
the kitchen is looking great you both are living the dream that lots of people want but have not the b!!!!s to do it like the man said i'm not rude i've got b!!!s to say what they are are all thinking don't let your spirits wain your doing great you WILL succeed
Good on you guys. BTW to get rid off snakes use moth balls you know those balls with strong naphthalin smell what you'd normally use against moths in your clothes storage. Strong smell repels snakes and rats as well. It may take some hours but they most definitely go away. Do not let them get wet as they would dissolve and lose smell and efficiency
You both are doing amazing i hope all the red tape paper work gets sorted soon you deserve to fulfill your Dreams you are such a lovely couple love the outdoor kitchen im sure Laura is going to cook some delicious meals take care sending love and prayers 🤗🫶☀️
A half serious proposal would be to find another couple with property in Spain or France that are in the same sort of residency limbo, and trade being on each other's land when you have to be out of your country of choice. You could water each other's gardens, and do basic land maintenance, and security.
About the rats I have had experience with them. Put steel wool in any crack and under the door so they can’t get out. They will eat it and die. Ali put plant material inside that has insecticide on it. They eat that also. Good luck. M Tucson Az
you guys are really gettin er done hey dan look for a good used bcs tiller they made in italy and i bought one here for 100 usd and put a carb tires sparkplug and airfilter and paint still till my garden 7years now you guys Rock that waterfall area looked refreshing 😊❤❤
Hi Laura and Dan outside flagged area looking great my friends a day at a time you’ll soon have your garden growing area set up your a amazing couple stay safe friends
Oh by the way watch anything Farmer for fun does regarding growing stuff. I am going to line my vegetable growing areas with plastic to conserve water. You want British moistness with the Poruguese sun.
Re rats. 1 part chocolate cake mix to 2 parts bicarbonate of soda also place a dish of water near by. (rats and mice are NOT able to fart or burp so it blows them up) If you have chickens or a pet cat or dog it wont hurt them.
You did well with no experience on the pointing and it'll work out fine. The pro trick would've been to use a soft brush to lightly brush over it all to finish it and remove any trowel lines while the morter was still wet.
Pull the outer boards off or rebuild ur out house out of tin or blocks something the snakes and rats can't get into...Or u can do stone but I think it would be easier with blocks.. 😊
It's nice to see the outdoor kitchen floor finished now. The colours of the stones are beautiful, well done bot., That was a real hard and back breaking job. Oh my goodness I could never live with snakes around me, especially in the out house! Good luck with your next project, I'm looking forward to it. 😀💗💗
Gday, wiping the stones down with a moist sponge is something i was going to suggest, but you had already started. Regardless looks great and will stand the test of time. That snake was a little beauty, if it does not thin out the rats, try smoking them out.
Rats apparently hate Camphor oil smell, it has been used by soaking cloth or cotton wool with camphor and poke it into the wall, hope this helps as it worked in my friends loft space.

Looking good!
❤❤
Good for you working with nature to solve your problems. That snake is happy for the food and will help you. Here in East Finland friends tell me that families used to encourage snakes to keep rats and mice down in barns ;)
Thanks for sharing and yea so true hopefully it does the job ha x
Snakes are always a danger, always wear long boots and gloves, be careful, I wish you all the best and happiness
Thanks for sharing x
The patio is looking great. The river beaches in Portugal are amazing.
Thanks Virgina ❤❤
Howdy Laura and Dan. Happy to see you happy and smiling. The floor looks amazing. Great job you too. Wishing you lots of luck and good health to both of you. You inspire so many. I would have enjoyed doing what you do if I were younger. Watching you two gives me joy. Take care and keep on chilin’. 🙃
Hey Arnold what a lovely comment and same too you. Glad you can live through our videos and brings you joy ❤❤
God bless you mightily and much love in Christ. ~John
Thanks for kind words and sharing We are going to be starting a youtube membership page soon
I agree on outlining where they need support/capital equipment. I think they are tentative as they first need clarity on their visas?
Greetings from Cape Town South Africa. Been following you guys from the beginning and very proud of the progress
Hey Ashley that is so cool thanks for the ongoing support ❤❤
OMG rats and snakes, the two most hated critters in the world, maybe they'll kill each other off. Maybe get yourselves a big rat hating kitty or two to chase off those scary rats. Such a great job accomplished on your stone patio/kitchen, hard work but you did it and will enjoy it. Each day we all learn something new.
hopefully ha but not to sure :) Thanks for kind words and yea so true ❤
I wonder if you can make money off of your fruit trees and grapevines ? Do you have cork trees ? This might help your income level to get your residency. Perhaps get chickens so you can sell the eggs etc .
Thanks for sharing and not easy to do so out hear as everyone has them ha you cannot give them away in harvest time ❤ good ideas tho x
You are both doing a great job!
You are living a life that so many of us wish we had the courage to do . Remind people to like and subscribe
Doing a great job!!
Love that such a nice comment ❤️
I wish I were young enough to do this type of thing. I thoroughly enjoy watching you two get along and both work hard to achieve your goals. I am rooting for you from across the pond :-)
Love that thanks a bunch and glad you can enjoy our videos ❤
Dead easy to flush out the Rats, just pull the tree bark off and they will scurry out to get away from you 😅..they are scar3d of humans 😊
Thats the plan after the snake has done there buisness ha ❤
Having been biten by a venomous snake as a child all snakes to me is a massive hell no
we agree ha ❤
Stone work looks nice once the kitchen goes in table and chairs will look lovely you have done a great job your both doing well

Your garden will happen and will be so special when it happens because of how long you've had to wait to make it a reality ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Guys really means a lot ❤❤ Looking forward to connecting in person sometime
Love u guys! Not easy being brave enough to live an off grid life, much respect. The kitchen floor looks awesome too! Hope all is well….. on the laaaaaaaaaand! ❤😂👍👍👍
Thanks as always Daniel ❤❤ hope you well too
Maybe the snake can not come out for a while because with the rats in it's belly he doesn't fit true the whole.
Hopefully ha ❤
A simple 12 volt pump that is used in an RV would be plenty of pump to provide water to your outdoor kitchen
Good to see you guys. You are an inspiration take care of each other as you do. Lovely to see 😊
😊 thank you lots more to come x
I look forward to these every week. Thank you for sharing ❤
Glad you like them and sending you love ❤

Yea we have heard rain is brutal in the north at the min hope the sun comes out soon for you while hard at graft
You both have found freedom in how you live, away from the rat race 😊
Love that Sheila but we still have a lot of work to do yet ❤
It's been a while since Marrano's lived in Portugal!....Great progress.
❤❤❤
The floor looks so good, well done 👍
Thank you 😊❤❤
How is your van sitting under the hot sun everyday? Will a covered shed help to protect it? A shed built beside the barn ? Just a thought 😅😊❤.
Keep up the good work 😊.
Yea van gets very warm its hard for it not to in portugal x
Ánimo y adelante, sois admirables.
Ya sabéis luchar en la vida, habéis tenido que aprender muy pronto. ❤❤

Hello guys! First, that tan looks really good on you guys, you're becoming more Portuguese 😎. Great job with the stone foundation, really enjoyed that. Appreciate every moment on the land and Portugal, I'm asking the universe good vibes for you and for the visa to come quick. Big hug ✌️☮️
Thank you Carlos 😃 Hope you well too and sending you a big hugs back. Glad you enjoyed and hope you having a great day x

If only you had decided on the move before the BREXIT deadline you would have been fine although I’ll always be keeping my fingers crossed for you. I’m a Brit living in Italy since 1969 long before you two were born. Stay positive, big hug’s CIAO
Hey Margaret yea its such a shame we will see how it plays out :) Cool hope italy is going well for you ❤
Hi guys, good vlog as usual.
Thanks so much 💖🌻
Some GREAT shots in this episode!
Hey Victor all really good ideas and thanks for sharing we defo need to try something like that x
You deserve some really comfortable seats, instead of a plank, for sundowners 😉
Seriously poisonous snakes terrify me, but I've just had a browse and Portuguese snakes don't seem poisonous enough to kill humans, unless you have underlying cardio vascular issues.
Really good in depth comment and so true many peoples situation and needs are different would of took us hours to cover it all more in depth 💗
Loved the video😊 You were talking about bills, do you not have a truck payment or insurance? And food can cost a lot! Especially these days😒 Love you guys!
Yes insurance on truck and yea we agree food prices going up ❤❤
I know everyone has said it… and I’m going to say it too. You are coming along so well. I couldn’t with that snake AND rats. Yikes!
I am really bummed about the massive income requirement change too. I wish I had applied last year, but I missed the D7 boat. Will have to make it happen, as will you. Take care.
Hey Jen thanks for the lovely comment :) yea its defo a bummer for sure we will see how it plays out ❤
Just found you today.
You're working hard and everything looks fantastic.
When will you trim all the growth from around the trees? That would help trees and make property look nice.
One tree a day maybe. When weather cools off
Glad you found and yes lots to do thanks for sharing ❤
Fully empahising on the jetwash satisfaction...ive blasted a massive patio and a small swimming pool this last week, whilst its been pouring down in Zummerzet! Geddon, try a West country aaaacent, lol.
The Outside kitschen is proper job coming together, your hard work is paying off...soon be time to invite friends around to cook up a feast and show it off.
My hopes go with you to get the visa work sorted out, so you can spend more time in the place you are giving your hearts and sweat
Yea the jet wash satisfaction is so good ha love it ou arr ha ;) Thanks again for the love ❤❤
I am new to your channel, I have subscribed, and I’m very anxious to follow your journey
ha why anxious lol relax and enjoy ❤
I’ve been waiting for your snake friend to come on the show and it’s so funny to see it disappear into the wall.😂😂😂
Good luck with your residency though I’m sure you’ll be fine in the end but it’s a shame that they make you leave for so long thus preventing you from setting up a garden to grow your own food.
Very Nice work with your outdoor kitchen floor. I so enjoy Your videos, be Safe and Enjoy and stay Strong my friends.
Thanks so much, we appreciate it 💫🌿
Love watching your videos.
Wow that is nut pure dedication ❤
The floor is looking dang good - I'd be happy with that.. Keep on trucking guys, it's all to play for (and win!) 😁
Thanks Elone we will do hope you having a good day 💗
I see you take the time to answer most all the incoming comments.
Thanks for sharing the great ideas and yes this is something we are exploring just will take time to rearrange ❤❤
Have a great day
the kitchen is looking great you both are living the dream that lots of people want but have not the b!!!!s to do it like the man said i'm not rude i've got b!!!s to say what they are are all thinking
don't let your spirits wain your doing great you WILL succeed
Thanks Ray and yes we agree ❤❤ sending you love also
Hi, How far are you from a coast line? Ta
depends which one but closest is around maybe 3 hours
Good on you guys. BTW to get rid off snakes use moth balls you know those balls with strong naphthalin smell what you'd normally use against moths in your clothes storage. Strong smell repels snakes and rats as well. It may take some hours but they most definitely go away. Do not let them get wet as they would dissolve and lose smell and efficiency
Thanks Alex yes a few people have said that we need to look at this thanks for sharing ❤
You both are doing amazing i hope all the red tape paper work gets sorted soon you deserve to fulfill your Dreams you are such a lovely couple love the outdoor kitchen im sure Laura is going to cook some delicious meals take care sending love and prayers 🤗🫶☀️
Hey Deb, hope you are well in Wales and yes us to. Thanks again for lovely comment ❤
A half serious proposal would be to find another couple with property in Spain or France that are in the same sort of residency limbo, and trade being on each other's land when you have to be out of your country of choice. You could water each other's gardens, and do basic land maintenance, and security.
Thanks for sharing but the residency rule applies to every country in the EU so would not work for British ❤❤
About the rats I have had experience with them. Put steel wool in any crack and under the door so they can’t get out. They will eat it and die. Ali put plant material inside that has insecticide on it. They eat that also. Good luck. M Tucson Az
Thanks for sharing the tips ❤❤
you guys are really gettin er done hey dan look for a good used bcs tiller they made in italy and i bought one here for 100 usd and put a carb tires sparkplug and airfilter and paint still till my garden 7years now you guys Rock that waterfall area looked refreshing 😊❤❤
Thanks and yea we a slowly getting there ❤
The patio is looking great
Thanks Kevin ❤❤
Hi Laura and Dan outside flagged area looking great my friends a day at a time you’ll soon have your garden growing area set up your a amazing couple stay safe friends
Thanks so much and we hope so Michael ❤
Keep that ebegging coming. So many of these Brits in Portugal wanting to get rich from others money after pushing up the prices of rural land.
❤
Oh by the way watch anything Farmer for fun does regarding growing stuff. I am going to line my vegetable growing areas with plastic to conserve water. You want British moistness with the Poruguese sun.
Hey David thats a interesting idea will explore that for sure ❤
Re rats. 1 part chocolate cake mix to 2 parts bicarbonate of soda also place a dish of water near by. (rats and mice are NOT able to fart or burp so it blows them up) If you have chickens or a pet cat or dog it wont hurt them.
Thanks for sharing :)
Lovely vlog. The floor turned out so nicely. What is the name of that river beach? Love that back wall.
Thanks Cathrin river beach is Castelo Novo ❤
Great job guys, keep going, look how far you’ve come 👏💪💚
Thank you so much Jenny love the energy 😁 ❤
❤
You see what like with you both, you and Laura are not afraid to try and do something, and I love , bless you both lots of 💕💕🇯🇲
Thanks Leighton lovely comment and support ❤
Luar biasa sekali skil pasangan mu membuat rumah👍👍👍
💗
You did well with no experience on the pointing and it'll work out fine. The pro trick would've been to use a soft brush to lightly brush over it all to finish it and remove any trowel lines while the morter was still wet.
yea thanks for that something may still do ❤
Looking great! Well done guys 😎👍
Thanks Shaun ❤
Good Job guys,
Greetings from México 🇲🇽
Cool Mexico ❤ ❤ Thanks Jacob
Pull the outer boards off or rebuild ur out house out of tin or blocks something the snakes and rats can't get into...Or u can do stone but I think it would be easier with blocks.. 😊
Hey Michele and yes we agree thanks for sharing ❤
It's nice to see the outdoor kitchen floor finished now. The colours of the stones are beautiful, well done bot., That was a real hard and back breaking job. Oh my goodness I could never live with snakes around me, especially in the out house! Good luck with your next project, I'm looking forward to it. 😀💗💗
Hey Heidi thanks so much we are getting there :) yea the snakes are something to get used to ha thanks for taking time to watch and comment 💗
You're paved area is looking fantastic well done 👏 look forward to seeing your vlogs
Thank you glad you are looking forward to seeing more vlogs ,More to come 😊❤❤
Hi Laura and Dan hope you are well, I t.hink that your idea to paint a picture for your neighbour is a lovely idea stay safe x
😊 ❤
It's all coming together Dan n Laura. Keep ya chins up best wishes Phil 🙏🥰🙏
hey Phil Hope you are really well and yes slowly getting there ❤❤
A 12 Volt RV pump with a solar panel is a nice way to provide water. I use one to pump water up from the spring.
That's a great idea thanks for sharing
Gday, wiping the stones down with a moist sponge is something i was going to suggest, but you had already started. Regardless looks great and will stand the test of time. That snake was a little beauty, if it does not thin out the rats, try smoking them out.
Yea we got there eventually ha thanks for comment ❤
Rats apparently hate Camphor oil smell, it has been used by soaking cloth or cotton wool with camphor and poke it into the wall, hope this helps as it worked in my friends loft space.
Never heard of that will do some research ❤
don't care for snakes....hope you got 'rid' of it!! rather have the rats.....get cats for the rats
ha we actually dont mind snakes ❤
