    The variation of dumbbells is extremely useful for a small person like me ruclips.net/user/postUgkxP26Tir6n60vUkdtn4mbwhRO8cwuJQNy2 But the dumbbell size being large it's hard to do certain exercises like deadlift ( I have to have my hands and legs a bit wider to accommodate the size of the DB )Otherwise happy with the purchase. No excuse not to lift weight when it's snowing outside.

    I always feel like this move gyps you. Sure, you get to strengthen your shoulders, but so much of it is explosive movement with the hips & legs that your shoulders don't get to work as much. Fast up without any movement to start the weights moving before the shoulders move the weight, & slow and controlled back down will work your shoulders much better....Unless you like just hitting a number just for the numbers sake and not for completely exhausting the muscle.

      +DeadeyeJoe37 - You've interpreted the effect of the exercise perfectly, but misunderstood the intention. The point of the movement is to build explosive power in the hips & legs, not to "completely exhaust the muscle". It's not an isolation excersice for the shoulders, for that a strict overhead press would be done.

      DeadeyeJoe37 crossfit is all about including all body movements. They hardly isolate a muscle in a work out.

      it's a variation. you could call it a scaled down version, but that wouldn't be entirely true at all times, especially if it's heavy. They are two different tools, the push press and the strict press... both useful for different reasons.

      Just use that momentum to press more weight that you normally would
