When I saw the interaction in the video I immediately recognized Bishop Jakes’ fear… He was afraid.. That is why Jakes began to say things like “I am too anointed and too busy” and “You’re going to have to respect me”. I believe those statements were dialogue to his fear of the situation. He was encouraging himself because his path in ministry is encouragement. He is NOT a demon deliverer. And he knows it!!

Well hers my issue: Many christiian don't even believe in demon possession/oppression. They put everything under the heading of " mental illness". That has been debated even on THIS platform. THEN when we see a true manifestation of one and dealt with...we say he didn't DO it right. Didn't cast out the demon right! Smh we have to get back to true deliverance

I wish you would’ve showed the clip. I didn’t see the exchange you’re referencing, but from the way you described it, I believe Bishop TD Jakes handled it correctly. And you know in the past, I have been critical of Bishop Jakes, but I’m cool with him now. Something you need to realize is not all demon possessed or demon oppressed people want to be free. And some of them come to the ministry just to mock Jesus worshippers and to try to derail God’s work. So that is why Bishop Jakes said things like he is a man of God who doesn’t have time for their shenanigans IMO.
They recognize he a Son of Sceva. God showed me a dream a good 15 years ago bout him. Told me not to eat the food had poop in it. Food being the word of God he mix up with.

It is always just the human who gives permission to the evil demonic spirit to take possession or to make oppression. Demons are nobodies without permission from the human. I saw the clip. Bishop jakes was talking to the woman to make her strong so that she could take ownership over her role in allowing in the demon lest after the demon leaves her, multiple demons come back later to oppress her. Bishop Jakes prophesied that she would come back to the church looking so refined that no one would recognize her. So, he had to begin showing her how to take control over her soul right that moment seeing as how she would later become a totally different woman. There is no reason to deal with the spirit when you know that it is the human giving the authority to the spirit. And no demon can interfere with human will including Bishop Jakes’. And Bishop Jakes knows that which is why he said the things he said in the way he said it.

Imma be honest, I grew up under Deliverance Ministry (still under it) & what I saw Sunday watching the service was completely different from what I’ve witnessed in deliverance experiences. I was disturbed & agree with what you, Larry expressed. I also kept asking myself a few questions: 1)why are all the leaders (that we see regularly in the TPH ministry) seemingly distancing themselves (moving further back like they didn’t want to be too close just in case…)? Maybe just me. I do believe mental illness was a factor (various forms of abuse leading to addiction, mental illness, etc).
2)Why wasn’t she taken to a more private area where she’d be “worked with” or “ministered to?” Maybe she was after and we didn’t see it. I dunno. I felt uncomfortable during that entire interaction. I still believe in BTDJ & TPH Ministry. Yet these things do take place in the church as it did in the early church (Biblical history validates this). Nevertheless, as 1John4:1-6 commands - we must not believe every spirit, but test to see whether it be of God. Just my thoughts.

I was actually watching the service on Sunday, and I too, was confused about the interaction between Jakes and that woman. Thank you for giving me some clarity on this, Larry! It was definitely dramatic and extra to say the least.

I would have to be really prayed up to see a person levitate.Saw something like that as a kid when a person had a demon she did that but laying down and not that high. I believe it was a few inches or so. Thats those strong spirits one has to have been in the presence of God with fasting and praying. You are so right Larry about the prayer warriors.

I agree, this was very different to me. I have never seen a Christian rebuke an evil spirit, without saying, "In Jesus' Name". He said, 'I am a man who has the Holy Spirit'.. I don't think we have to tell a demon, who we are. Evil spirits know who are. Similarly, in Mark 5:7, the evil spirit identified who Jesus was and Jesus cast the evil spirit out of the man.This was just so weird and different to me.
He didn’t rebuke the spirit. He encouraged the woman bc she was obviously NOT READY to let it go. When you’re working in deliverance, it’s important to assess the situation before going head on. Do you know about the “seven sons of Sceva (Acts 19:11-20)? Then read Matt 8:28-34. Just bc the demon(s) is there doesn’t mean the time is appropriate to cast it out. Man of God or not.

My only question, is she free? No intellectual critique, what one has experienced in deliverance, irrelevant. Is she free?
Some are extremely anointed to cast out demons, but there is no lane in the body of Christ as to who can cast them out or who can't. The Bible says that these signs will follow those that believe. That's the criteria! Walking in 💯 belief. They shall cast out demons... that's it.
Well scripturally speaking, unless she’s walking in deliverance and staying away from sin, she’ll remain delivered or else she’ll be in deeper bondage than she already was. I hope TD Jakes and his ministry are helping her and teaching her.

I agree Larry either way a moment in time was missed. Either deliverance was missed or the person being addressed was not treated as someone with mental illness. All odd behavior is not a demon. What happened to taking people in private not with an audience to critique or judge? This was not properly discerned.
You're right it was not properly decerned. It was a demon manifesting. It takes decernment to recognize one.

Mental illness is a spirit. God is the prince of peace and the devil is the author of confusion. Know your Bible. It's also different levels to it.
When your doing spiritual warfare ( casting out demons) the people cannot just stand around looking, because demons (spirits) can jump from one to another.
Larry is correct about that ministry it was not equipped for casting out demons. One more thing is that you never turn your back and walk away on any type of spirit.
Demons are real and nothing to play with.
I came out of a church in Virginia, Beach which is known as the witchcraft state. That is where I learned spiritual warfare.
You definitely have to keep intercessors at all times around the altar.

I know brother the old way back in the old day type churches are not accepted now a lot or laughed at but all I remember is my Holy Ghost feel Pastor which is my dad Bishop Cato of Dallas Texas which I am now the pastor I just remember save Sanctified field with the Holy Ghost prayer warriors just laid hands on a person that was demon possessed and I saw the devil cast out along with purging that's all I can say I can't get with this new type of church and everything I just stick to what I know call me old-fashioned but I rather be safe than sorry but you doing a good work brother God bless you

I am a member of TPH and there were several times that I saw them rush through deliverance and or letting God have his way in services but it was rushed due to time and or being live, I'm guessing. It hurt me each time. I say this because that is one of my spiritual gifts and back home (Detroit) my church is based on healing and deliverance and there were several times that we did just that. No sermon, because God had a different agenda. Like you said, there is a lot of red tape in MEGA churches.
Oh you a messy member. I'm a member there too. Sounds like you are hurt because you want to operate in your gift, but cannot like you did at home. Have you signed up for classes to become active in your gifts. Have you spoke with associate pastors so you could start using your gifts.
There is no red tape in any church. There's order. If you haven't gone through the channels to function at any church, than that's a choice you make...but don't sit on the sideline and then go to social media about how you feel things aren't to standard, from a back pew.

Growing up with a father who was an Apostolic Pastor before passing, this disturbs me! He never laid hands on her and spoke roughly, and I understand you don’t play with demons because my father didn’t! However, the guy he prayed for after the lady was treated differently! Well quite frankly, Jesus didn't use the same method of deliverance either. Neither did thr disciples. There is no" formula" as some claim. It is about being prompted and led by the spirit in that moment what is appropriate.

I went back and forth about responding to this bc I’m not one to weigh in on too many things unless I’m in the presence of the person with whom I’m speaking. So I’ll just say this: the casting out of spirits is NOT a one size fits all kinda thing. With more than 30 years of counseling experience and 25 years of deliverance-mostly dealing professionally with ppl OUTSIDE the church setting, I can tell you that Jakes’ approach was absolutely brilliant. Why? Bc he saw the severe brokenness of the woman. In that situation, he had to encourage her enough to WANT TO release the demon. Otherwise, that spirit would have the right to possess her. What you called “ego” was him talking to the spirit, which wouldn’t be apparent to the naked eye bc Jakes was vacillating between the two. She was too fragile for him to deal only with the demon. If you heard him, he said that God had shown her to him as a better woman, and that’s why he did more encouraging than casting out. I don’t think the woman was ready to let go, and I believe he saw that as well. I’m sure he prayed for her though. If he took it to God in prayer, the deliverance could still happen. Just sayin’.

I wonder if this is part of a great change that's going on with his ministry. I didn't see the video that you referenced, but it reminds me of a the end of the Bible study that Pastor Cora was leading. In the Q&A, the last question was about demonic influence in the person's life, which led to immediate prayer. Whatever the case, I'm praying about it ALL, and against all the negativity, which is what I see to be that which is against Christ. Blessed Be The God!

We don’t talk to demons we cast them out. Just bc someone fall back isn’t deliverance.. everyone is not anointing to cast out demons and demons speak as we saw with the sins of sceva Acts 19:11-20

Yes, Larry I agree with you about Bishop Jakes sounding boastful and prideful instead of dealing with that thing. He said he don't have time, what anointed person doesn't have time for deliverance? I say that thing because I am NOT SURE if this woman has a substance abuse problem or a demon. I didn't see anything in that video like levitating that would be obvious a demon. That's the problem with social media. Yall write a whole dissertation on a 1 min clip. Why do you think the bible clearly warns that God will deliver folks, but if they don't do what is necessary to stay delivered that spirit comes back with 7 other spirits. I will never forget my pastor back in Bmore...he spoke to a demon in a woman...that thing manifested in an insane way. She was freed that night, but stopped coming. She appeared again, and that demon started disrupting service, and pastor would bind up that spirit and pray her thru. This went on for months. The last time, pastor was VERY firm with that woman. He didn't have time to keep fighting a fight, when she didn't want deliverance for herself. I literally watched ppl who were at the altar needing their own deliverance, leave the altar before being prayed over.
Until you know a back, front and side story to a matter, tread lightly.
Perhaps this is why Paul Crouch could go on his “Praise The Lord” show on TBN drunk! Could not any of the men and women of The Most High God discern that spirit? None cast the spirit of alcohol out of him and helped him get his deliverance.

As an emerging Prophet who God is teaching deliverance and study the forerunners ahead of me I wholeheartedly agree. Not sure if it's the same video you're referring to, but Lady Serita took authority and cast out the demon the ministry staff couldn't. We never really been able to see the fullness that is her ministry though.

I haven’t seen the video, because quite frankly I’m not going out of my way to invest in a ministry that I don’t believe God called. HOWEVER, all I’m gonna say is this…read Acts 19…you’ll see why I said Acts 19 if you read it. Honestly, Bishop Jakes is lucky that whatever was on her didn’t jump on him.
I am a part of a healing and deliverance ministry and I must say that this was very very strange.

He Gave Counsel Not Deliverance. And Intentionally Tried his Best To Stop The Demon From Manifesting, he Knew Exactly What Was about To Happen He Been Round in Old School Before He Became Mainstream. And All His Head Ministers Were Clueless and Afraid!! Smh. Yall Talk Down On These Small Old School Churches and Preachers and Prophets But They Have and Had The Real Oil and Authority!! (1) Ask The Congregation To All Pray In the Holy Ghost. ..The 30 fold that has actually received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. (2) Never did he use the name of Jesus with her.
(3) After ask the prophets to reveal by the Holy Spirit how she must maintain her deliverance.
(4) Then Counsel. This is a sad day. All this money and influence we got to do better. I respect Bishop Jakes but a lot was exposed in this video. But there was enough anointing in the room for the spirit to even start to manifest.

I have to respectfully disagree‼️Christians want to see instant results instead of allowing God to work in His timing‼️Laying hands on her could have been the beginning of her deliverance🤷🏾♀️‼️The fact that He stopped and prayed for this woman speaks volumes‼️God led her to come forth and Bishop to pray for her‼️I get angry with "chruch" people because they want to see everything in their timing, not God's ‼️Bishop Jake's is a man sent to preach the Word and it's up to us to do with it what we may‼️
I think he said those words to cover up the fact he didn’t know what he was doing.
It may have been uncomfortable for some people, since we prefer entertainment rather than deliverance...but it was not "weird". Why would it be strange that demons confront leadership...they also confronted Jesus. They also confronted the apostles? U can't expect people who NEED deliverance to agree or understand what it's supposed to look like. If they did...they themselves would be delivered!

Maybe someone else has already made the following assessment. First, the question I raise is after all these years, it has been a rare occasion to see Bishop Jakes cast out demons. Admittedly, we only see the portion of services that they choose to air or stream; nevertheless, why now? All at once and after all these years, Bishop Jakes and staff are confronted by a parishioner possessed with a demon. Secondly, since his rise to Church Stardom, when has Bishop Jakes ever shown a material demonstration of power in his services or preaching? Doubtless, he's a prolific and creative preacher; however, when have we ever seen him be more than a clever orator and great business man? So, based on the historical trajectory of what we have seen from a distance, Jakes' exorcism was doomed to be a sh*t show from jump.
The word says to test the spirit! As saints we have the right to question everything and everybody especially this day and time with all the false prophets around. This just make more people suspicious 🤔 we never heard the name of Jesus being used not one time when TD supposedly cast out the demon! We as believers have authority over it! WE DONT REASON WITH IT! That's believer 101 basics! Lord knows I'm not where I could be but in 2022 we need power in the name of Jesus! Now some of these pastors saying we as saints can not question the shepherds over us...and get upset because we do...sorry we/I have a problem. When folks are truly in the pursuit of God we not looking for a pastor we like.....we need one holy ghost filled and walking in righteousness! While, I enjoy some of Bishop Jakes sermons, I have turned away on more than one occasion, because his go to at times is female shame and blame, without providing a well thought out argument for all parties involved. That's just me and my discernment of how he comes off in his spiritual warfare. I know women following the church is profitable, and a way to build up your church, but its a business model that needs to be abandoned and women need to reject it!

I commented on Bishop Jakes way of casting out a demon and I have been chastised by the Holy Spirit. Who am I to say what is a right or wrong way to cast out demons. Instead I should have been praising that a demon was cast out. God has us working in all different administrations and because the way my administration works in spiritual warfare does not mean it operate the same for someone else.
So please forgive me for judging. The word tells us “judge not, yet ye be judged”🙏🏾
Alsooooo I see people commenting about the deliverance they have witnessed before but isn't God personal to each of us! What He did yesterday He may not do tomorrow! What He does for me He may not do for you‼️I understand why people are turned off from "church"‼️The people complicate things‼️Our relationship with God is supposed to be personal‼️When that lady leaves from church and Bishop Jake's she gotta know God for herself‼️Year's of trauma won't suddenly disappear after 1 church service‼️That's unrealistic‼️I know God can do anything in His timing‼️People are trying to cut both ways here‼️Real people in a true relationship with God knows sometimes it takes a minute to get them demons out and some do leave instantly‼️Please stop messing people up by making them think change is instant with God‼️Sometimes things have to worked out and through but God is in charge‼️

I totally agree with you. It's seems like he is trying to now portray himself as a prophet, but this was for show. I felt the same way when he handed over Woman Thou Art Loosed to his daughter. The way he walked off the stage at the end, it seemed to be rehearsed/planned to go viral.
