      .....ironically, I've had the Life Extension brand of NAD+ sitting among my supplements collection for a year before yet taking it as I wanted to keep researching & get blood workup. It has an interesting formula I just again looked, but I can't yet understand the connection of NNM & NAD????
      Also, i Sure wish you guys would review a new form of ionized? NAC called Augmented NAC.
      ....
      made in Switzerland which is I guess ionized & far more powerful. They have set up some kind of advocacy campaign called "zero spike Project", so I just don't know what to make about all this & sudden invention of Augmented NAC!
      It is directed to Long Covid & Covid infections. Been emailing back & forth with them to see if it could help ME/CFS EBV & if they have any studies, but nothing other than Dr's reports it helps to fully or partially resolve. Saw a vid or comment about this Augmented NAC few weeks ago, so they have a US distributor & will just try it. I've been taking Life Extension NAC 2 weeks now 600mg 2x daily & nothing yet. I saw "HIS" vid on spike protein protocol for NAC, Nattokinase, Bromelain, & doing the same also.
      I'd like to say I have "The Original Covid" of 18 yrs that started from noxious sewer gas poisoning from major sewer vent risers that collapsed behind our kitchen / bathroom walls in a plumbing chase way in my 28 story hi-rise here in Fl. Not only were we exposed to years of VOC H2S/SO2 , but serious viral, bacterial, & fungal load in this gas.....very similar to that hi-rise in Beijing with sewer plumbing problems that speaks SARS through the building many years back!!!!! Seems f'n hopeless.
      Maybe we can get him to do a vid about this Augmented NAC to help others then buy stock in the company! LoL.🤕🤔

    My mother recently passed at 100 years of age. During her lifetime many folks ridiculed her for being a "health food nut". They all died decades before mom!!! Also, she never had a doctor or took any prescription drugs, but DID take lots of Vitamin E and other vitamins!

    Sweet lord please make this a regular pod Nick. Your breakdown of collagen peptide metabolism was covered in a way that's not on RUclips. It's MASSIVE for burn victims to observe and consider their options when recovering.

    At 73 I found that playing my guitar was becoming more difficult. For example - I Feel Fine by the Beatles starts with a bar chord with a pinky stretch. I was flubbing the pinky about 50% of the time. After supplementing with taurine for two weeks, I'm playing that chord with no problems. I didn't start taking taurine with any exceptions regarding guitar playing. Just an observation.

      When you started taking taurine, did you make any other changes? (drinking more water, exercising more, new hobby with your hands, etc). Just wondering.

    My 2 favorite nutritioneers in the same video! What a gift! I’m 65 day 10 on nmn: a big 0 so far. And I was hoping for even just some placebo.

      To be fair, your source matters a lot. Renue is where I got mine. Originally got it from a source with no benefits.
      Secondly I suffered from terrible sleep quality. 3 weeks after NMN 1G a day I was getting 5-7 hours and feeling better than in my 20s. Can't be placebo. Started other supplements afterwards to ensure I knew what benefits I sustained.
      All that can be GUARANTEED is that your NAD+ is boosted. What that means to you individually is completely different than anyone else.
      The fact you didn't see any benefits shows you probably already have healthy cellular activity. It's worse for me that I got a benefit, because it shows I was unhealthy prior.

      I’ve taken DNA’s NMN powder sublingually for almost two years. No impact that I can see. I work out more now that I’m retired so I’m in good shape but I attribute non of it to NMN. Creative is likely the one supplement that gave me results in just a few weeks. With the potential cognitive benefits, I’d suggest creatine is likely the most beneficial supplement that I take.

    I listen to and watch both Dr. Stanfield and your videos. I stopped taking resveratrol and stick to blueberries and other berries now because of Brad. I also take collagen peptides now because of both of you. Thanks for being critical science based thinkers and distillers of scientific studies to spread knowledge in the age of not just misinformation but disinformation. Merry Christmas , you two are a gift of reason and sound judgement to the world.

    😊 Really awesome to see that you had Brad Stanfield on. You two have been my "go to" for the past year or two when I want to hear any analysis on a particular supplement or drug. Having had cancer, I read a multitude of studies trying to weed through all the b.s. things that people anecdotally try to throw out there regarding "curing" cancer. Luckily I had learned how to read and analyze studies at some point in college and I think it's an important skill for people to have to be able to recognize bias or confidence among other aspects to be able to analyze a study. I appreciate the knowledge and breakdown you provide in particular. I had found Brad's channel before finding your channel. It was somewhat angering to listen to some of the other "health advice" channels knowing that lots of what they were doing fed into clickbait sensationalist topics. Many of them aren't giving a full honest assessment of things. When I found Brad it was quite refreshing. He basically gave a very honest and accurate "cliff notes" assessment of any particular study or meta analysis on a subject. He doesn't get into the specifics a lot and gives enough information for the average layperson to get a grasp of the subject. Then when I found your channel I was so pumped to hear someone give the same kind of honest and unbiased assessment while getting more into the details of the mechanisms of what is going on. Brad's "cliff note" style will likely be more popular because I would bet the majority of people don't understand enough or don't care to understand enough to hear the more in depth analysis. But honestly I love it! I have noticed that you changed your format at some point to do both styles. Really smart move for the algorithm and people's attention span. But please keep the "in depth" stuff available like you have been. It's awesome! I expect that you both get a little boost in subscribers and views after this video since you both likely have viewers that never even knew about the other person. Keep up the awesome work! We need to get you and Brad on Rogan, Huberman, or Friedman's podcast to help amplify the accurate analysis of information. Thanks to you both!

    No placebo for my old dogs:
    One at age now 9, has been “lame” for about 3 years, a leg broken in puppyhood at age 4 weeks, and acting up on her every single day after noon, after morning activities (she’s a high energy vizsla). After a couple of months on NMN (powder sprinkled on her food) her lame leg is NORMAL and FULLY FUNCTIONAL, no more limping after noon.
    So then I decided to give it to my other 13 year old dog who was getting cranky (obviously pain or discomfort causing it) and going blind from cataracts. After 3 months for her, she’s stopped running into walls and furniture, and is behaving like she did 7 years ago!
    So I tried it for older age aches, and a 7-year shoulder injury has healed!! And those aches and pains are gone. It took a few months for full effect, 1g per day.
    If placebo, fine. Something worked. I’ll take it.
    I suspect NMN only works for older age with depletion of parts of the NAD cycle and cellular repair.

      At 70 I agree. 500-750 mgs every morning with same of TMG. I work out daily, though lightly, and it does seem to have put a spring back in my step.

      At 50 i do not se much benefit from 1000 mg of mnm. Creatine on the other hand has been much better.

    I'm not sure if it says more about me or more about you (and your quirky humor I enjoy) but when Dr Brad said he had started taking hyaluronic acid "for skin health" I almost expected a quick camera cut to your face as you quipped "Foreskin health!"
    Yeah, it's probably more about me. You must admit it wouldn't be wholly inconsistent with your humor. :)

      It's usually on the label or, if on Amazon, the Q&A section has someone asking and getting an answer from the brand. If no luck there, just calling/email the company will get you the answer, but most reputable companies will have this info on their label (or website).

      Unless labelled, I think it's safe to assume it's low MW (as it's cheaper). Just like fish oil is typically in ethyl esther form unless it's labelled with "triglycerides". So far in US, I've only come across DoNotAge that labels its hayluronic acid as high MW.

    Excellent video, I enjoy both of your RUclips channels. I like that your information is backed by studies not hype. Too many channels make unrealistic claims on to the latest longevity supplements based on the most tentative of evidence.

      In 1826 President John Adams was 90 and eating pretty good. What types of unregulated synthetic vitamins, supplements and fortified foods was he eating for his entire life? And how does the human body react to a synthetic unknown foreign supplement that it does not recognize? Which disease does the DNA instruct the body to promote?

    can honestly say that I have never noticed any improvement from any supplement I have taken..

      Given our daily variations in energy based on sleep, diet, stress it can be very difficult to recognize the effects of a supplement. I find the best supplement to be a really good night sleep and a long walk in the fresh air. Nothing makes me feel better

      Creatine for strength and mood has been my only benefits. The rest no difference (nmn included)
      And then Olive oil for skin benefits.

    I have not come a single Dr here in the good old US of A that will order a test for a potential change. It is ALWAYS after the fact. I think it makes it easier for them in terms of diagnosis and treatment.

    In the era where everyone claims to be a doctor, skepticism arises when they say, "let me tell you …” I prefer, "let me show you with these stats, charts, and peer-reviewed studies …” Interestingly, there's a popular RUclips “Doctor” with millions of views in various languages addressing health issues-a chiropractor, of all professions.
    I appreciate your channel. I used to follow Dr. Brad, a young physician yet to complete his residency. Although he underwent standard medical training(heavy course work), his research knowledge is limited. He references studies from China, raising concerns about reliability. Moreover, he takes personal digs at other research scientists like Dr. Sinclair, who holds a PhD, not an MD. This is just my perspective.

    Please do a fair and honest review of Gary Brecka's comments on the Joe Rogan podcast. Knowing someone with an MD degree/background would have differing opinions, it just seems like you're more open to an honest review. And he has good results behind his claims with some of his "patients". Would love to hear your thoughts on gene specific therapy - methylation, celtic sea salt curing migraines, etc.

    Skin health/wrinkles etc - Vita C/Ascorbic Acid has also has proven to work very well. Also, wherever possible it is best to heal from the inside as opposed to the outside.

    Just a small addition and a question on the discussion on collagen:
    The study on burn victims used soy flour in a porridge for the placebo group, not isolated soy protein or other more processed proteins. The texture (and possibly bio-availability) difference is huge because of the 20% fibre soy flour contains. Try to make porridge with collagen, soy protein and soy flour at home if you do not believe me. The recipe is in the study.
    Do collagen peptide receptors also respond to other peptides/amino acids? I mean, a collagen peptide can be cut in several ways and so it's shape can differ.

    I'm highly interested in the photomodulation effects of light at cellular level, nobody yet i think, researched narrowband spike light from IR LED light vs wideband noise light from filament light using only a red filter. Since a year I'm using wideband IR and bc i wasn't able yet to measure the amount of shorter wavelength content like UV, I use additional sunblocker cream to attenuate the UV part of the spectrum. Bc i think, the filter i have could still pass damaging UV radiation. And i use this light sometimes for hours.
    500 Watt filament wideband.

      Yes, they make big claims like similar effects to Rapamycin on anti aging and I’ve only seen their own clinical study for their evidence (so possible bias)

    Collagen supplements work for avoiding skin problem at old age. I don't know about wrinkles, because I don't have anything which worries me in that regard.
    The reason why Whey Protein isn't enough when you are older is that you don't get enough of those amino acids which are most abundant in collagen. Glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline.
    Yes, the body can produce them to some degree from other amino acids. But, at least when older, that's not enough.
    I do supplement with about 12 g a day of hydrolyzed collagen, and with a lot of glycine. And it cured some skin problems I got at age 70 or so.
    But if I had known more when younger, I would have supplemented with collagen then too. The turn around of collagen slows down if you doesn't get what's needed to build it. And the quality of it in different parts of the body deteriorates. You just see it only in the skin!

    a good argument for collagen peptides is the ratio of glycine, by taking collagen peptides along side whey protein, you get a much better balance of glycine to cysteine.

    One thing that needs testing re the joint connective tissue effects of collagen are specific types of collagen...i.e., type II.

    I would still watch the 5 hrs of quilting..My experience with NMN is to pair it with Betaine to give my liver methyl groups and glycine to help methylate away the excess amount of it. The other aspect of it is that I take it only if I do a draining workout during cutting phases. I seem to tolerate it better than Niacin, I feel However, that this is because I have G6PD deficiency, and it has been seen that niacinamide and niacin tends to reduce the g6pd enzyme production.

      Right! His suggestion to live a long life is to get jabbed ever 4 months for multiple viruses is the opposite of longevity, it’s a fact it destroy your immune system!! He lost my attention when he said we should be updated on all vaxes in his longevity tips vid, In my country that would be 4 times a yr! No thanks !!

    Regarding collagen pepties - it contains quite a bit of glycine. The usual amounts of glycine in typical meat/whey protein cannot provide the amount provided in collagen. Personally, I just take glycine.

    Drives me crazy. I see the virtues of so many supplements being extolled on youtube, but whenever I try them, even from reputable manufacturers like Do Not Age, my liver enzymes go up (from the teens to 50-100). This includes collagen peptides, NAC and glycine. With creatine, my eGFR drops to the 50s. So for me, it does seem to have an effect on kidney function.
    So I'm happy to have a healthy diet, cardio and RT exercise, and as much sleep as I can manage. Along with Vit D/K2.

    Another interesting subject aside from Photomodulation (mitochondrial Melatonin?! Collagen generation? Interesting!!!) I would like to mention the usage of sublingual Carnosine or, the oral precursors of it.
    For some years I used Carnosine sublingually to avoid the stomach, then later switched to cheap beta-alanine.
    Once again another interesting and cheap anti-glycation supplement.
    I would also advocate for not only suppletion, but depletion as well.
    For example, a friend of mine is now totally obsessed by transfats. And thus, he is a vegetarian now, only allowing chicken now and then. My opinion is, transfats can have different origins, generated in the own cells, then, from animal origin and also synthesised forms. I cannot imagine these transfats have a similar effect. I told my friend it may be more beneficial to focus on the origin of the meat, grass fed/ organic and most of all, avoiding all seed oils, rather than simply cutting red meat.
    Early man, never had red meat on a daily basis. Intermittently fasting was daily routine for the simple reason, the hunt was not always successful. This makes meat-transfat research less useful I think bc, having it daily was never part of our early man routine. And this puts our whole nutrition habit in a different perspective.
    But this meat-vegan discussion is a pretty heated one. More like a war on social media.
    Btw, bacon contains an awful high amount of carnosine 😁. I just don't think a lot of it will be digested. That is why I'm adding beta-alanine.

    I am not a scientist nor am I a doctor. Needless to say, I have over 20 years experience in the fitness industry, working with and utilizing various hydration techniques, fasting, diets and supplements. I have also lost count of the number of doctors that I have talked to that have never used any supplements, never prepared for any type of fitness or sports competition, are in poor physical condition but have convinced themselves that they are the experts. Whatever pays the most counts.

    late to this party, but yeah, I agree with all the positive feedback on this discussion! Very informative and it's always reassuring to hear not one - but TWO - scientific researcher's opinion on supplements. The supplements are not cheap, and it's so easy to get scammed these days!

    When you say you take collagen, in what way do you mean? I use Vital Proteins chocolate mixed in with skyr or Greek yogurt with some blueberries, sometimes. Mix it together and it’s like eating a healthy chocolate pudding.
