About the holder, I think I've answered that in one of my videos...It's Koh-i-noor hardtmuth sticks..But you can use Conte too..
For a beginning palette you can look at my channel banner..:) Those are basics colors you can use to start...

How long does it take you to complete a portrait? Do you spray it with fixative?

i come onto utube to learn how to paint, i love your videos you say its a step by step in some of the video, but all i see is you painting i love to watch , but question do you do a step by step that people can learn from with some kind of voice involved with instruction id love to learn a bit more, about what colours you use how to make it look realistic, mine still look flat , having said all this i do love your work its brilliant x
