It's definitely overpriced. The footprint isn't a $500 set, let alone the piece and figure count. It's a $400 set. I absolutely love the set, and i paid $500 with zero buyers remorse.
I get it. I think people would have been a lot happier with the inclusion of the Sarlacc Pit for the $500. Like you said though, I loved it as well and am very happy with my purchase.
@TheBrickQuest you're absolutely right. If they included the two together for $500; i bet there'd be 0 complaints. It's a beautiful set and has plenty of nice figs.
Love the time spent justifying that the set isn’t overpriced because the figures are “valuable.” LEGO should have just made the set cost $5,000 because then the Leia fig would be valued at like $900 minimum!!!!!!! So you get about a fifth of the set’s cost back just from the one figure!!!!!!! So the set is worth it!!!!!!!!! 😐 And then when you consider that the differences in cost of making one figure to the next is nominal. They should have just put a Sauron figure in this set to really make it worth it!!!!!!!!! What a joke. So if this set was $100, it would not be worth it because the Leia figure would only sell for $7 on the after market?
I do understand what you’re saying but if we stack this set up against all the previous releases from Lego. It’s actual a better value than most UCS sets.
The Mos Eisley Cantina is definitely one of the best Star Wars sets in the last decade! Maybe Lego will give us an amazing set like that again in the future.
Not even Lego sets with similar piec and minifig count are selling for even 350 so its basically a 150+ charge for beeing star wars... and then the detail of the minigifgs is terrible compared to quality like Lego dungeons&dragons Minifigs. so there is absoulty no way to think this price is worth it.
Compared to other themes yes, the price is out of line. Unfortunately the LEGO Star Wars theme does have highly elevated pricing. This price is in line with all the previous Star Wars UCS sets. Hopefully Lego will bring that Star Wars theme pricing.
the minifigures are not what i expect from a UCS product, they are cheap and bad, expect 2 figures. 400 bucks would be a normal Lego Pricepoint with discounts to 250-300. Also, the censored Leia Minifigure is a pathetic way try to make the 1 % population happy to farm good boy points on twitter.
I do like your review and thorough breakdown. My big gripes are they made too few of Luke's lightsaber gwp, which was a huge selling point day 1. My other issue is forcing people to spend an additional $80 for the saralock pit to truly complete the set. I feel the set should be in the $400 range, but had the pit been included $500 is more feasible imo. Great video as always.
Thanks! Much appreciated! I definitely can see that side of the pricing debate. You make a good point! I think if Star wars in general is more reasonable with their pricing we certainly should have had a sarlacc pit included with this for the same price.
So to summarise “it’s no overpriced because other sets are more overpriced”. This is a terrible take that is soaked in complacency. “It’s not bad because other things are bad” is what we call having low standards. If you don’t call out problems, then you don’t fix problems.
I see what you’re saying. I do think Star Wars is a whole is overpriced but there was definitely a lot of hype around the higher price on this set but most other UCS releases were not really brought into question. Star Wars sets as a whole need to be priced better.
I believe you would be able to find it for 430 or something with a discount, and then, it is an insane deal. Plus the value will go way up in the future
For me one of the best sets and bought it recently when in hand it’s sooo good man I got it for £350 with the Lukes lightsaber and the Pumpkin so for me was a good good price and rlly enjoy it
I actually do agree! The Sarlacc Pit would have been a great add on to complete the whole scene and $500 would have been a more competitive price to compete with other themes.
I think you are right on the price. It’s in line with the others SW sets, but is big, really good looking and packed out of stunning minifigs. So it’s overpriced? Yes, but less than the average 😅 Nice video!
Thanks! Yes. This is a beautiful and really fun set. I was very surprised by it. Let’s just hope LEGO makes the Star Wars theme pricing more competitive.
It definitely is overpriced compared to other themes like LOTR and Harry Potter. But it is in line for regular Star Wars UCS pricing. LEGO Star Wars pricing is inflated unfortunately. Great set though!
people, remember that price per piece isbt everything, its a build with many big pieces so while it might seem overpriced, the build is big enough to justify tve price, the figs could be better tho
I think everything here would be worth $500 IF they brought their A game but the worse C-3PO, dual molded leg Leia, fat bib fortuna, and pupil-less crumb drag it down
You make a good case, especially regarding price per piece and the fact that very few UCS sets have this many figures. However, this video doesn’t account for the lack of skiff and the $80 set they clearly want you to buy with it. While this may be a decent value comparatively, the skiff is a far cry. Coupled together, I’d love to hear how the calculations land. $580 for both sets. I get they’re separate, but that’s part of their tactics it seems. I’d have been fine with $500 for both sets included and another skiff, but fix bib fortuna’s head and Leia’s legs. I will gladly poke at the value of all UCS sets, as it’s just silly I can buy Barad Dur and Rivendell for a much better value than a big grey or brown ship. I’d even go so far as to say Mos Eisley is the better set between this and the Sail Barge and Skiff combined.
You make a good point with the added expense of the skiff. It would have been nice to see that added into the set for the $500. I think that is most people’s pain point of having to buy both sets to fill out the UCS Sail Barge. Definitely think though the UCS pricing should get more in line with the Lord of the Rings sets.
Dude replies to every comment saying its over priced. Who are you trying to convince? Us or yourself? 500 dollars on lego is a waste no matter what it is.
Good review, but I also disagree with this being a good value. Comparing this to other sets doesn't really mean all that much. The previous sets in the $500 or more price range have cost more, but also are very impressive display models. The Sail Barge is really good, but it's not "that" impressive as a display model. I feel this should've been $430 at most.
Thanks! I definitely get it. I do understand that this set will not be everyone’s favorite set like some of the other more popular ships. It might’ve been better if they had had more Luke light sabers available upon release to make it more worthwhile for more people. Just to help offset the price.
@TheBrickQuest are you basing that off selling the GWP? Honestly, you shouldn't have you sell it to offset the price. It cost Lego damn near nothing to make those GWP'S and people go crazy over them. I just want sets priced reasonable to start with. I don't want to have to sell my "gift" to offset it personally.
The CEO's are starting to become extremely greedy and are jacking these Lego sets on store shelves that should be selling for $19 and selling them for $49 they're already saving millions with having robots working in their warehouses than actual people. They're using recycling plastic so there's more millions they're saving. I guess the share holders need their bonuses to give their wives that plastic surgery as a Christmas gift this holiday season. If you people would put your hands in your pockets for a out a year and find another hobby for the next 365 and don't buy any Lego products and strike against these outrageous hiked prices then maybe Lego will bring these ridiculous prices down I haven't bought a Lego product in almost a year. I'm not paying for something that's tripled than what it's worth.
1:23 you lost me here bro. Valuing a set based off its minifigure value is more than delusional. Sure figures are highly collectible, but realistically what sane consumer is worried about the value rising in the future? Then I remember the surge of sad “investors” and look at that; an investment video on your channel. Very disappointed.
Lego fanboys still dont realize the decline of this company, some of the chinese bricks today are way cheaper and have the same quality. Lego was a great company but today its bloated as fuck.
It is a little bloated right now but I think the market is slowly correcting that. I know there are a lot of other pretty good alternatives out there now.
Disney has lost so much money on their woke Star Wars shows that they are trying to squeeze more profit from Lego sets. It's not a good set. The interior is fine as well as the deck but the exterior is so sloppy that it looks like a kid designed it. There are also far too few minifigs. If they needed to stay on a limited amount of figs then they could have cut out the droids and added two more Gamorean guards. The other three bandits don't even have leg printing which makes a UCS set feel a lot more cheap and tacky.
The set is definitely overpriced, but I do also think this set has very good value for the large $500 price tag. No buyers remorse after building this set from me
*Correction: Price Per Piece on UCS AT-AT is .125 Falls in line with all the other UCS Star Wars sets.
Absolutely, 100% overpriced at $500.00. Anyone who says otherwise didnt spend their own money on it.
Star Wars in general could be priced better. But yes, I did spend my own money on it and I do think I got a good value for what it is.
Bought it day one for full price and while I would’ve preferred it to be cheaper I wouldn’t say it’s overpriced
Not overpriced. You're just broke. Get a better job, or get a cheaper hobby because Lego Star Wars isn't getting and cheaper.
It's definitely overpriced. The footprint isn't a $500 set, let alone the piece and figure count.
It's a $400 set.

@@TheBrickQuest I agree this set has a better value than other UCS sets but it's definitely still overpriced
I’m boycotting
i'm going to make my case why lego should not stop sending me free lego kits
I wish this was sent to me for free but unfortunately, I did spend $500 for this.
Oh but is it overpriced even for Lego Star Wars standards
There’s better options
Like Mos Eisley Cantina
Keep thinking that it’s good value
The Mos Eisley Cantina is definitely one of the best Star Wars sets in the last decade! Maybe Lego will give us an amazing set like that again in the future.

If you *don’t* open it (& wait 10yrs) Then probably yes. Otherwise have fun but 500.00 is a small fortune, just is.
I agree. $500 is a lot of money. Hopefully LEGO will run a 30% discount in the future like they did with the Razor Crest.
Dang that’d be a pretty nice discount 150.00-Off
I believe you would be able to find it for 430 or something with a discount, and then, it is an insane deal. Plus the value will go way up in the future

The Gwps really helped a lot with the day one cost on this set. Agree! Really amazing set and build!
I feel like if this set included the Sarlacc Pit set, the price would be justified.
I actually do agree! The Sarlacc Pit would have been a great add on to complete the whole scene and $500 would have been a more competitive price to compete with other themes.

$500 for fragile brown bricks that will shatter in 2 years?
no thanks.
I thought it was overpriced too, but you raise a fair argument when you compare against most of the other UCS sets...

@@TildenCats just for clarification. The Star Wars theme as whole is overpriced but this set is in line with normal Star Wars UCS pricing from Lego.

Well done! A real opinion with facts
Thanks again for another great review
Thanks! Much appreciated! Just wanted to give my take on all the price talk on this set. Very fun set!
Just snagged it for $375

the ucs sailbarge looks fine to me, also ucs sets usually have 2 minifigs max
Any lego set over 100 is over priced. Legos always been expensive, but I really lost interest in lego when they started cranking out these 400+ sets.
The set is definitely overpriced, but I do also think this set has very good value for the large $500 price tag.
No buyers remorse after building this set from me
Glad you were able to get it. I thought the build was great and it looks amazing! Really great set to own.
