  • So I bought what I think is real LEGO on TEMU. I swore I never would and now it's time to see if any of these sets are actually REAL! Enjoy

      @@tld8102 yes the shipping boxes were pretty poor quality and did not look great. But surprisingly there was minimal damage to the sets. Maybe just got lucky!

      30% Discount on lego is standard and it's already known to not buy lego at retail price.
      Often the blame is on the delivery and not the seller

      ​@TheBrickQuest you do realize the euphemism "fallen off a truck" means bad guys involved right? And not an actual 'the product fell over and was damaged' TEMU probably works in factory 'seconds' made in factory, but something off like the blue is blue#2 not blue#4 in printing.

    As a few others have mentioned, the unreleased sets were actually released worldwide on 1st June, it’s only the USA who have to wait until 1st August for them.
    But it’s AMAZING that it’s genuine Lego from Temu !

      @@TheBrickQuest For some reason it's happened for the last few years, the summer sets have come out on 1st June, but not in N. America until 1st August.
      Someone last year did say it was something to do with the US retail market wanting them in August, due to some other non-Lego product releases that happen earlier in the summer (not sure how true that is though)

      @@emaciel I don't think so. It only happens with the Summer sets, the rest of the year Lego releases everything together. but the last few years, the summer sets have come out on 1st June, but not in N. America until 1st August

    The availability of sets seems to depend on your location. I had a look on Temu and found no genuine LEGO sets available to me.

    They actually realised everywhere but the Americas, also the missing part numbers is just how the set packages look everywhere else, just to let you know, it isn't weird

      @@TheBrickQuest yep, the Yellow Mobile Construction Crane and Seaside Harbor with Cargo Ship are already released in Europe (and probably Asia too) since June/July 2024. Only in America that we get them in August.
      If you don't have the piece number and set number on the box (just the age) = European version

    Hi, just a quick advice. You can just scan the code on the building instruction booklet to gain points with Lego loyalty program to know if it's original or fake without wondering a lot. Enjoy the new sets :)

      Hey I got the giant LEGO Bowser on sale from Target and for some reason the manual isn’t scanning. But all the parts have the LEGO stamps on them and everything else with the box and manuals seem legit. Does that invalid code mean the sets fake?

    To be honest, I have worked in production faciliites, and it appears these are probably items that were damaged on the production line at some point. Most likely they are set aside so that they can be reboxed or repackeged. This is where they most likely are "removed" from the warehouse. Usually, you try not to send anything less than perfect to the stores.

      @@Niewiem6301 True, but here in America, people won't purchase a damaged box unless they get a discount on it. It is a bit stupid, but it is the way a lot of people are. If the boxes were slated for certain markets they might not care about the damage, but for others it is an issue.

    The "unreleased sets" due for 1 August 2024 US release were already released worldwide on 1 June 2024. Moreover, those "savings" which you had presumably saved were actually normal prices which you would have gotten from the major online retailers. In the end, there was no "real" savings at all. I would rather not trade reputability and after sales service when it comes to expensive items.

      @@kubbilykub so the two city sets don’t come out here in the US until August 1st unfortunately. They may have been released in other places around the world though. But I definitely agree. Reputability and after sales service is big!

      Exactly and the harbor set looks exactly like it does here in Europe with the paper bags and so on (sometimes you still get plastic). And I love the new two part boxes, finally back to something that feels to be reusable.

    Fake lego are not allowed using the LEGO logo in trademark even in China, usually the fake one will be use another name on the packaging and maket, and by the way i just check the 60409 on chinese online market, the price is 560 RMB which is around 77 USD, i think that is why TEMU got the range can offer the better discount.

    If the manuals have the qr codes what happens if you register them before release? Do Lego know where they send each code? I saw big box store workers on Reddit saying that they have some sets in their storerooms months early…

    Many of the City sets already launched in Asia & Europe since Jun. I got my Seaside Harbor set from Amazon JP for around US$80 in mid Jun.

    Hello brick quest! after seeing your video I also purchased some Legos off of temu and one of them has a misprint on the box it's missing how many pieces come in the set is that worth of any value?

    Lots of these sets have been released in Australia, but don't seem to be in the rest of the world.
    I don't know why. We often get huge shipping delays so perhaps to try and mitigate that, Lego has released early. The ship yard was released in July for us.
    Temu has a warehouse in Ausyralia, so perhaps they acquired the sets from Australia discounted for a bulk order and have on-sold them

    As someone mentioned, they either fell off the lorry, or are supposed to be held back due to damaged packaging and are instead re-sold. All the boxes seem to be damaged slightly, which could be shipping or my other hypothesis.

    Honestly I would rather find the knockoff versions of all of these. Identical build and identical quality, but usually like a quarter of the price. Most of my collection is off brands, which I'm perfectly happy with.

      There is a lot of fake LEGO on there so be careful but this order does confirm that there is at least some real LEGO! Proceed with caution though.

    The TLG started by stealing the blueprints of a Kiddicraft plastic molding machine, then manipulating with patents, and the first Lego sets were complete copies of Kiddicraft sets, right down to the instructions. So, I wouldn't use the terms fake or not fake Lego. Some Chinese sets are far superior in quality and design to Lego sets and cost three times less.

    The unreleased sets with paper bags could very well be European sets. They release at different times in different markets and, although I sadly haven't gotten any LEGO in almost a decade, the EU laws on single-use plastics could definitely be a reason for the paper bags. Even rice and sugar are now in paper packaging, and the plastic ones have a tax on them.

    I expected to see some really unreleased sets from Lego, as fantastic as it might sound, like Indiana Jones 77014. That would be a surprise, but in any case, I'm glad, this buy was quite successful and brought joy of joys :)

    Yeah, it’s actually pretty cool. Lego is an actual branded trademark seller on Temu like when you click on their link, it will say authenticated by Lego and then gives you the hyperlink directly to Lego like it’s Lego selling on Temu.

    as a chinese if u buy from temu from foreign remember to double check the lego logo as some fake compakes will mark simular brand names and might also write "the photo is only used as example not the actual product" , so take care and be careful when buying stuff from chinese , also remember to take photos of tape before opening the box to show u changed nothing in case u might have to refund

    Want to confirm it’s real? Scan the QR code on your phone, the QR code on the Lego magazine, if nothing pops up it’s fake.

    Yes the color of the kislux is beautiful and it is a great decision, maybe one day they will add feet and straps. It would be nice to have a bigger bag during the colder months when we have to store gloves, beanies, scarves, etc…

    Paper bags vs plastic bags is that the machines that fill the bags are being replaced. Plastic bag == old machine. Paper bag == new machine. As old machines break replaced with new machine, not just fixed. Machines have a life expectancy/cost of maintennace. Worth to start replacing old "bagging machines"(plastic) with new "bagging machines"(paper)

    I saw first hands on reviews on the harbor set three weeks ago and on the crane 12 days ago both in Germany.
    And the parts on the harbor set were also in paper bags.

    60422 was sold in germany during end of june start of july. You got some sets from the european market that's all.

    i think these are smuggled from the factory,like that happens with transformers figures,theres 3 creators who get figures early (i wont name them but i do know them)

      @@chrisbutler9962 typically if you they don’t ship somewhere you can’t place the order. If it let you checkout for some weird reason then you should be able to get a refund through PayPal or TEMU. Always proceed with caution on sites like these like I mentioned at the end of the video.

      I didn’t realize other countries sold LEGO so cheap. We are not that fortunate here in the US. We have to grab a deal when we see one.

      @@TheBrickQuest It's because in Asian there's many competitors to Lego such as Oxford, Cada, Mould king, etc. Those companies cost way less than Lego so HAS to lower their prices in Asia to compete at all.

    From California here. Downloaded the temu app after watching this video. Searched but could not find any Lego sets for sale only the fake ones. Tried searching for the seller in your screenshots but nothing pops up. Good that I can save money but I am curious and would’ve liked to buy 1 set to try it out 😂

      So I just typed in LEGO and I sifted through all the fake listing until I saw real LEGO boxes pictured and then analyzed the listings. I’m not sure if it’s the same in Europe or not.

    okay lemme explain, the reason those "unreleased" sets only have the set number and not piece count is because they're from the european market.
    Every other year lego switches who gets the sets first, this year europe got those sets a month before the us, thats how temu got hold of them.

    The fact you have damaged boxes is the give away, these would be right offs, not meant for resale, yes they could just repackage, but for some reason it's cheaper not to, so we'll done for some great bargains, just in case anyone is wondering, yes sometimes the accidental damage is done deliberately!

      Thanks! I agree. I wasn’t Interested in buying on TEMU either. I assumed everything was fake knockoffs. But if a store is going to sell real LEGO at a good price and do good business I can appreciate that and support the store while getting a good deal .

    I understand LEGO is hugely expensive and often overpriced for a lot of consumers but I don’t believe Temu is the way to go when purchasing sets. It’s a dodgy Chinese company and there’s no trace to where these sets came from.

      @@MasterK687 Lego is cheap to make. A 100 dollar set costs like 8 bucks to produce. They must be buying on huge bulks and probably are not very popular on Asia, so they sell em anythere else.

      @@rnt__ Every legitimate company that sells LEGO anywhere in the world will buy in bulk so they have enough supply. There is no way LEGO would sell bulk sets to Temu a month early knowing they would charge 40% off day one with no guarantee that even box quality will be maintained. I suspect these LEGO sets were stolen.

      Good question! That I’m not sure of. You’d have to try and see what it says. But that is along way for shipping so a good chance they could get damaged or messed with. Just be careful. By the way, I grew up in SA. Love it there!

    I have bought many *building* toys from them. I have built a few of the huge cars 2000+ pieces. And then I just bought a 4400 piece titanic. The pieces are so small but amazing. Never bought the *lego* ones tho.

    Paper bags seems a newer approach from lego. My son get a star wars set for his Birthday with the new paper bags for the bricks.

      it was the 75372 set. that should be an older set in the Star Wars collection but lego use the paper bags.

      @@TheBrickQuest no we are in Germany. maybe it is an european Union law for reduction of plastic waste. And lego is a European company and have to follow that. I was also surprised because my youngest son start building some of the older sets with plastic bags and my oldest son start with his birthday presents. Was the first set that have this new bags.

      @@TheBrickQuest LEGO is absolutely moving towards paper bags. I don't remember when they said, but we'll be seeing them more in the future. I bought the Van Gogh set recently and there was a small square printed insert in the box amongst the bags saying that they are moving to be more sustainable with their packaging and this box may contain a mix of plastic and paper bags. I got all plastic, but found the note card interesting. I'm in New York.

    Comparing prices with the rip off Lego online shop is redicolous, especially if you just even mentioned at 0:30 there are massive discounts on Temu to compete with prime week. Nobody who can count to 10 compares non-exclusive sets with those "official" retail prices. The crane is at about 80€ on amazon Germany which is about 87 USD, so not really a deal. I didnt check the other prices but seems to be as unpromising as well.
    another weird thing is to have this typical US-biased view that it's not yet released - in the USA. Sure Lego is from Denmark, they produce in China and Europe, why should America be first. Its like Playstations and Nintendos are first released in Japan, then the US market and usually Europe and Australia at last. 🤔🤷‍♂

    I would never trust anything on Chinese marketplaces that claims to be LEGO, there is just too much risk of getting the fake stuff.
