Whats crazy is he makes some of the most difficult drawing techniques look like its nothing. Perspective, dynamic poses and that webbing. Todd is such an OG
From watching Matt's video documentary on McFarlane, he practiced A LOT in art, even before he got a job in Marvel/DC, and even when he got in, he still took those chances to keep improving his art.
@@FAYMprod I remember that video, it was a turning point in my early drawings. So far back I had very little knowledge of figure or anatomy. Just trying to get a pose to not look stiff. It was revolutionary at the time, still struggle with dynamic poses though. Perspective is so hard to learn. Hoping to get some good progress this year, but everything is so slow...
Making twists and turns to d body adds to d dynamics.. that sounds very interesting. To me and all budding artists, it's an invaluable lesson on d art of foreshortening and perspectives which is what gives life or animation to a static body drawn on a flat surface. This is what gives d visuals it's dramatic effects and comic artist have been employing this technique over generations.. making fans coming back for more and more.
Looking forward to more of such lessons from you Todd! It's never boring to see you draw multiple variations of super heroes twisting and turning their bodies esp spidey moving from building to building wth d aid of his web or while engaging in combat wth his enemies. Wth d mastery of foreshortening techniques and perspectives which makes d figures come to life, we fans will never have a dull day just watching d figures perform their gymnastic and acrobatic acts virtually jumping out from d printed page! Your fertile imagination and that of Stan's too help fertilise our imagination as well. Your creative innovation to spideys web of shooting it towards d camera gives an added dimension to d dynamics of comic book art! Thanks Todd, kindly churn out more of such exciting and lively artwork which both entertains and teaches your fans.
I really would like to see Todd do another issue of Spider-Man with his style and talent he has today that he puts into Spawn. Would definitely be awesome!
I always loved spiderman man but I was never at the point of drawing human or like animalistic body's with like a different type of shadowing, but this video helped a lot, thank's
Amazing ! Thanks for all the tips ! Your videos keep me studying and drawing ! I would love to see how you set up your pages on photoshop ! Thanks again, Todd !
Todd is a legend ive been always reading his comics from spider man to spawn and wen spawn was released in comic stores in the early 90s i stopped reading marvel and dc and i bacame a spawn fan i didnt want to know about nothing but spawn comics it was so dope my mom didnt like me reading them she said that comic in particular is for adults you shouldnt be reading that i thought the same thing that it was an adult comic ment for grownups but i didnt care i was in love with spawn i tried my hardest to collect all the comics i had mostly all the issues i was missing issues here and there but i had almost all of them before issue 100 i had all the variant covers that came out man the memories shit was real
Your videos are always awesome. Your spiderman is my favourite spiderman. Always has been. I base my spiderman sketches after yours. Love the emphasis of his eyes
As a artist, I truly enjoy the tutorials of drawing and learning new skills with this digital media for comics, especially from the legend and creator of Spawn, Todd Mcfarlane, may i ask what kind of brush do you use during these tutorials?
Hey Todd! Just got a Wacom Cintiq 13hd pro. Been watching your videos like crazy, but I was wondering if maybe you had any about using the device itself? Any shortcuts you may utilize often, or hot keys your may have set? Brush preference? Drawing program you use? Blah blah blah. I know your busy and have spawn coming out, but I’m a huge fan and am finally getting back into drawing to share with my son who is 5 and now loves comics. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 have a great day. Thanks for these.

@@prismstar438Correct. This comes from an ungodly amount of hours worth of practice. Still crazy that he didn't have any formal training though.
As a 42 year old man who grew up collecting comics and dreaming of drawing comics, thank you for literally years of enjoyment. You are Spider-Man.
Different artists, different styles. 100% dynamic.
Todd’s art style: let’s slap this here and figure out how it connects later. I fw that
I swear to god, even his scetches looks more alive than anything i've ever put down on paper!
Gard Guldhav I know. Been drawing all my life and can't compare to the King!
If you think you can, you can ;)
El Diablo Blanco Elvis draws?
I know the feeling.
His Stick men are masterpieces compared to anything I drew 😭
wow this actually really clicked with me on how to draw dynamic poses. He broke it down so simply.
Jim Lee has a vid that's helpful for dynamic poses too. The key concept is to shift and turn the pelvis away from the torso

I love these. Todd is a great teacher. But can someone tell the camera man to film horizontaly?
Douglas Cardoso agreed
this was originally posted for facebook. hence it was recorded vertically but yeah. it is bummer watching it like this.

Don’t blame camera man?
Todd is good teacher, and so is davod finch :D
Anyone else getting these gems years later in their feed ?
the way he talks about it is so practical and accessible
I would love to see Todd McFarlane to make his own cameos like Stan Lee!
Good Idea. 😎👍💜💚❤💛💙
he appears for a sec in the 90's Spawn Movie
@@elamodelmerol really? I cant believe i mist that

There was a reason why he was so valuable to Marvel in the past. I hear the issues of spider-man that he worked on are still the fan favorites.
IMHO, he was the best at updating Spider Man.
