He is absolute pure class. Watching him work with the Beatles was truly creative genius and a fine ear. He was so tuned in to what he was listening to that he seemed uninterested, yet he was completely immersed that he was stoic. Not enough has been said about him when he has worked with these magnificent musical artists. Fabulous man...cannot be replaced.

George Martin said early on he could not get what the early Beatles were doing. To me, I got it at 7 and 1/2 years of age in 1964, Lucky His ears were not our ears. Sunday night in 1964, still lives on forever in the US. Rock On! No grease in hair at school the next Monday morning and Yeah, Yeah, Yeah... drum, guitar sound way different from Elvis. US kids got it.

Yes I agree, so many interviewers ask mundane and sometime stupid questions ( particularly when interviewing Beatles) this is in a different class for mainstream TV

Have to remember that “Candle in the Wind” was originally written and recorded as a tribute to Marilyn Monroe. So, changing the words to suit the occasion should have been of little significance. All the people associated with the recording were very familiar with the original recording because it was popular. As far as his celebrity Beatles album; who the hell wants to hear any of it? You can’t come close to The Beatles so why bother?

Her voice is a bit irritating, but she asks unusual questions and elicits information that helps us to understand more about Martin himself, rather than the same old Beatles stories once again. I've seen a dozen or more interviews of Martin, but who knew he played the oboe and gave it up because he got nervous? Or that he'd worked with Ella Fitzgerald? The story of what went into producing Candle In The Wind was fascinating. And Martin seems to like her and open up enough to float silly jokes, like the one about Cinderella tennis. I'd credit her with a good and very interesting interview.

Great Interview but, you do know why he (William Shepherd) doesn't know where the song came from. Because he didn't wright that one. Paul McCartney wrote in 1964 (the real Paul) wrote Yesterday and recorded it in !965. You asked the wrong guy George.
