I’m a be honest. Raptors fan here. The city didn’t treat Vince well. You’d of thought he killed 16 they way they wrote about him before he even requested a trade. Man was ripped to shreds for keeping a promise to his mother, finishing school and going to his graduation. He didn’t even miss the game.

He did admit in an interview, after being traded, that he purposely wasn't giving it his all. Raptors tolerated Kawhi with his load management since he has a higher ceiling than Vince Carter and was already a proven winner. Toronto is such a die hard sports city, if Vince gave it his all through the end, Toronto easily would've forgiven him and even make excuses to defend him. Toronto native here.

Fair point, although I’d say it’s also important to recognize how much of Canada is represented by Toronto, whereas you have 29 teams for the US. But I still have to question just how much is “diehard” when the franchise does not have consistent winning or a notable “winning culture”? And I say this in respect to the NBA

@@Jonathan-A.C. I appreciate your understanding. Valid point on country support since only 1 team representing Canada. Another example, Tampa Bay Lightning has won more Stanley Cups since 2000 (3x) than the Leafs have in 60 years. Is the Tampa Bay Lightning a die hard Hockey city, no but they are more successful than the Leafs. To me, Die hard means how supportive is the city, win or lose. Toronto financially supports all its teams, win or lose.

The reason the deal was so crazy was because they purposely structured the contract to fuck over the knicks, so that they wouldnt match. Believe it was something like a few mil the first two years and then the third year it went up by like 3x. That was the main reason they didnt resign him.

Sure I was pissed at first but the front office failed to surround him with legit role players for 7 years so I get it. I personally don’t care that it was televised. It had good intentions but we all know it shouldn’t have happened live. I remember deployed being like fuuuuuuuck, we lost him…

Also, say what you will about Jerry Krause, but that guy was competent, unlike the Cavs front office, look at what they got from 3 first picks and one second pick, kyrie, Dion waiters, Anthony Bennett and Wiggins (who didn't contribute to winning basketball until his 4th season, still a major letdown, considering the MJ comparisons when he entered the draft)
