He seems like a nice guy and all, but the issue is that he’s grossly overrated. Hate will come a player’s way if he gets overly glazed, no matter if it’s his fault or not
Tatum is not hated except by jealous ppl. Tatum has the #2 BEST selling NBA jersey. Tatum had the #2 highest fan votes in the final East All Stars voting. CLEARLY, lots of fans love him.

It's a very strange narrative since the only active "all-star" players that played in those playoffs where....Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Both Kyrie and Hayward was mostly hurt and Kemba was already cooked when he got to Boston. The third option for most of those playoff games was Horford and Smart. Very much NOT allstars.
People are using this stacked team so that when the Celtics loose … they be like “Tatum can’t even win with a stacked team”.. it’s like his haters , prob Luka fans, already created a narrative in their head….
@@Jonteponte71 This. People seem to act like Hayward didn't get injured on his first game as a Celtic, and never looked the same. Kyrie was useless in the playoffs. And like you said, Kemba was cooked. Had no knees left.
He can’t crack into the mvp conversation, because there’s just better candidates (SGA, Jokic, Giannis, Luka) Edit: Luka vs Tatum is going crazy in the comments
Depends on what you value. Outside of Giannis and Embiid he is the best two way player in the league, and he is the best player on a team that might win 65 games. Does that win him the MVP maybe not but he definitely deserves consideration and has a legit case
C’s fans and most people don’t have him winning or think he should be winning they just think he should be mentioned or in the convo, I think he has a argument to at best be 3rd

Tatum needs to win a ring to get respect. He needs one this year more than anything because if they don't win it with a stacked team like this then when are they ever gonna win it? Just like the 49ers in the NFL.
People hate on Tatum for a few reasons: 1. He is super skilled 2. He puts better numbers than most of their favorite players. 3. Mostly because of the Jersey he’s wearing.
@@noooodIe LOL show me a proof? All they do is win in a large Margin but they lost to crucial close games and Tatum misses all the shots! Its a fact! Try to watch Kendrick Perkins report and check Tatum's dead last in Clutch shots, he misses to much shot, overrated!
This. Andrew Wiggins clamped him and Jalen Brown had a better series by a substantial margin. Could even argue the Celtics had a more talented roster than the Warriors, which was arguably their weakest team out of their recent finals appearances (Curry plus one fringe all star in Wiggins who many believe didn’t deserve to be an All Star that season but was voted in by the fans as a starter).
But Lebron was worse in his first 2 finals and he didn’t get the hate like that. He was 23 during that warriors finals while others don’t get penalized for not even making the playoffs
@docgrowsfood the Celtics absolutely had a better overall team when you extend it to the bench but Golden State had the right players come up big for them and of course, the experience was invaluable.
Jayson Tatum and the Celtics are held to a much higher standard than the rest of the NBA. I mean who else has even been considered a choker at only 26 years old despite repeated success in the playoffs.

I think if someone is as great as Tatum they hold another passion for the game and love for their idol. He was like 23 when he did it. You probably did a lot of weird shit when you were 23 also.
Because people don’t know what a good player is anymore. It’s always about counting stats. There aren’t many players who if you watch everyday your appreciation goes way up. Tatum is one. To me you watch him every day and how he carries himself he’s an absolute throwback.
I think also it’s just people like to follow a narrative and not make their own opinions and if you don’t follow they crowd and make your own opinion to them you’re a “casual”
@@Edd_LShore So you are stuck on counting stats? Like I said before what about winning? Jokic is in a class of his own but Luka to this point has largely done nothing but be a black hole offensively. The two way aspect is entirely lost on him. Tatum is when required the best defender on the floor and the number one scoring option. He’s been to 6 out of 8 ecf’s as the team leader. He’s put up historic close out games to beat people. Sga ain’t done nothing but put up a good season. They are not the same. Edit:This comment has nothing to do with the MVP discussion idk what it is but it seems like he has to work wayy to hard to get the respect everyone else gets easily He had to sweep KD beat Giannis and Jimmy all in 1 playoff run just to get called a superstar and be mentioned in the top 10, whereas a guy like SGA averages 30 in a regular season and without winning anything significant gets thrown into top 5 convos
I think it's the inconsistency and not realising his best assets. Edit: Forgot to mention the Dawg/Aura factor. Some stars just have that indescribable, unquantifiable IT.
SGA leads his team consistently, a lot of the time tatum has had the best roster in the east how much of any of the celtics success is just tatum and how much of okc’s turnaround has been just shai improving
@@davidc.lalnelawma4776the inconsistency is my biggest problem. He disappears for some games in the playoffs and his team carries him, then he gets a ton of credit when he finally shows up.
Correction: In his rookie year, Celtics under Stevens made it to ECF & 1 choke (Rozier & Brown choked) away from NBA Finals WITHOUT Kyrie & Hayward as both injured before start of playoffs. That playoff starting 5 was Tatum / Brown / Horford / Morris / Rozier (both Rozier & Brown were avg below 17 ppg) & Tatum played like a star .
People hate him cause he is so talented and skillful like no one can relate to him. And I think he is too good as a person and doesn't show so much flare, feels like he is hiding his emotions. Celtics fan here and i don’t think Tatum has much hate. Most of the hate i’d say is from people who don’t like the celtics but even then i’d say Tatum is one of the more respected players in the league. He does get criticism when the Celtics get eliminated but i’d say last playoffs JB got much more of the criticism to the point he is overhated. Tatum is very respected among the fanbase for a celtics player
Eh Tatum gets a lot of hate, he’s held to a pretty insane standard compared to other superstars Like anytime he’s mentioned it’s immediately “but no rings” even though he just turned 26 (Lebron won his first at 27, MJ at 28 etc)
@@otisboy6714 I feel that’s just the effect of Tatum having so much success his whole career kind of like how Lebron was his early years. I just don’t see much Tatum “hate” compared to other players but maybe i just haven’t seen that side of the community enough
@@otisboy6714The problem is that Kobe won his first at 21 years old with a great cast. If Tatum wants to be compared to Kobe, he is greatly underperforming because Celtics have a great roster. Ima premier Celtikkk hater, but him being on my team is the least of my issues. I really liked IT before that organization buried him like a dead puppy.
I like how Tatum literally turned 26 yesterday and people are giving him crap like he should have lead his team to a championship already. Even Jordan didn’t win until he was as 28, but I get it he had a given-up Kyrie, broken Hayward, JB Horford and Smart, how dare he not win a title 😡

i like tatum and i think the "boring" label is so dumb bc as a fan, i'd prefer my star to be scandal-free and a good person. BUT although i think he deserves mvp consideration, he's probably not even a top five player in the league (if joel was healthy, tatum wouldn't make all-nba first team this year now that it's positionless). the timberwolves are 1st in the west, but you don't see anthony edwards getting any mvp love, so while seeding matters, i think advanced stats matter even more.
My problem with Tatum before even watching the video is that he has so much skill that he doesn't use. He could be an MVP of say he drove to the basket more or worked on his passing a bit. Instead, he chooses to come time and time again with trying to be like Kobe without being him taking jumper after jumper, which he's not amazing at. Tatum has the talent in and around him to be great and win, but he can't use it well. He's also just so inconsistent. He was doing terribly against the Sixers in that game 6, I think, but because he pulled his shit together, BARELY at the end, the NBA glazed him for the win.
I feel like most his haters are either Heat fans or just kids. Tatum is one of nicest and humblest guys in the league. At 26 he is top 5 and excels every year. He’s taken a step back with his stats because he’s putting a team first mentality to win the chip. Kids love to hate because it’s the meme of it.

Man I love Jayson Tatum. Hate how everyone wants to remember his bad games but not any of his spectacular ones (yes in the playoffs). And besides that, one of the nicest and most humble nba players you’ll see. Hope him and JB get their rings this yr
Tatum has been the Celtics best player in every deep playoff run including conference finals and finals the Celtics have had since they drafted him BOTH Kyrie and and Hayward were injured the entire playoffs in 2018... Tatum took lebron to game 7 of the conference finals ... As a 19 year old rookie... The next season was the one Kyrie single handedly sabatoged the entire Celtics team and the celtics lost in the second round of the playoffs... Kyrie would be gone very soon after this series loss to the bucks and Hayward would from this point be a shell of his former self as an overall player... Constantly getting injured to the point where Celtics fans were completely numb upon hearing Hayward was injured by his 3rd season... So the celtics iteration of the team now is completely different from the team Tatum came into or was even surrounded with his first couple of seasons Kyrie, Hayward, Morris, kemba, Marcus smart, terry rozier have all come and gone during jaylen and jaysons time in Boston. Even guys like isaih Thomas who were part of the whole culture of the Celtics and it permeated for years after thomas left and now its a completely different vibe/team/atmosphere... Tatum was the best player in the 2018 playoffs... Second season jaylen brown was Tatum's best teammate and al horford was his second best teammate... Kyrie and Hayward were both i injured for the entire duration of the 2018 playoffs... TATUM IN ABSOLUTELY NO WAY... Had a "super team" or anything close to it 2020.. AGAIN... The Celtics best players were Tatum and brown... Marcus smart, now that he shot 29% from 3 instead of like 25%... Was now Jayson Tatums best teammate besides jaylen brown THAT was not even close to a superteam Im not going to break down every season... All im going to say is Tatum and brown have been winning WAY before they should have been... nd casuals.. instead of realizing the accomplishment it is to have your best player be 23 and second best 24 and make it to the finals... Casual dikheds use the fact that they didn't bsat the warriors... A literal dynasty... At 23... And 24.. Tatum LITERALLY had a fractured left wrist on top of the experience gap... But ya act like tatum and brown losing the finals is zome sort if negative mark on their resume No one else at 23 in this era has even made a finals as their teams best player... But ya... Talk shit about the one player that did
As a suns fan Tatum is my favorite non suns player maybe it’s because him and booker have similar games but I just love his jumpshot also him postering lebron was special
I don’t hate Tatum. He seems like a chill dude that keeps to himself. But I don’t think he should be mvp this season for three reasons: 1. His team is absolutely stacked. The warriors tried to prioritize Tatum defensively in the first quarter of the game yesterday and Jaylen Brown decided to cook them from 3. Nearly every starter on that roster was previously an all star or boarderline star. I’m not saying Tatum isn’t important piece to their roster, (I’m not blind I can clearly see that he is) I’m just saying that the Celtics would still be a playoff team without him. 2. If he should be mvp because he was the best player on the best team, why wasn’t that narrative used in the past few seasons? Giannis didn’t get an mvp last year, Booker didn’t in 2022, and Mitchell wasn’t even in the conversation in 2021. 3. Lastly, I just feel better players are carrying their respective teams with better stats. Simple as that. TLDR; Now before you Celtics fans say anything, I will say that if he does get the award this year I will not be mad. Leading any team to 60+ wins is a feat that should be awarded. I’m just saying that the team’s success feels more like a team effort than one specific individual’s.
giannis should have won mvp last year but games played was an issue, book didnt have media support tho he ended top5 if book was more popular no doubt he wins mvp over jokic who was a 6 seed, in mitchels case its because donos counting stats werent that impressive
we don't "hate" him........we're just tired of the Boston media..... this is how it works: if a Boston player is good, the media will push him for all-star....if he's all-star level, the media will push him for all-nba....if he's all-nba level, the media will push him for MVP....and if he's MVP-level, the media will push him HoF......... and this has been going on basically since the foundation of ESPN..... jayson's fine......he tends to disappear in most big games, and his defense is overrated....but he's young, and he hasn't won anything.....but frankly, videos like this are why we are tired of you, not to mention all the ESPN promotion.......
the reason he's not mvp caliber rn is because his team would still be a solid playoff team without him. okc denver dallas and milwaukee would be either mid or miss the playoffs because of how much they rely on their mvp candidate's production
Tatum doesn’t need a team built around him? But Luka does? My guy… Tatum doesn’t KNOW what its like to not have a well built team around. Luka pushed the Mavs to the Conference Finals with Brunson as his second best player before we even saw him as an All Star candidate. Tatum has never played for a team without a second All Star.
Then what the hell was the 2018 Playoffs then? Cuz mans had 2nd year Jaylen Brown and Rozier as his main guys and remember Kyrie and Hayward didnt play that playoffs btw and i dont remember those 2 being all stars and yet he brought Lebron James to a 7 game series in the Conf. Finals
People hate on Jayson Tatum because he couldn't lead the team to a championship and yet they don't complain about Stephen Curry, Lebron James, or Kevin Durant having a super talented team before winning their first championship? Basketball isn't a sport where you play alone.
I feel like the biggest case against Tatum as an MVP candidate is that he is playing with 4 other borderline all stars that take away counting stats and the “carried his team” narrative
For real like if he doesn’t have a bad game they’re probably still crushing some team if Luka Dončić doesn’t have a good game, the Mavericks don’t win it’s as simple as that
Funny thing is nobody was hyping D white as some allstar before coming to boston. Kp was considered an injury prone loser, jaylen was barely ranked as a top 30 player in the nba at times. None of these guys are top 10 players or future hofs most likley. Meanwhile bron kd steph kawhi all played with top 10 level talents and hofs 😂
@@natanaelmercado9167 Literally all the guys you mentioned biggest criticisms' of their career are that they had "superteams" to win except for Kawhi. There's a reason Steph didn't sniff another MVP after KD joined.
@@TrueGuardify but with that same argument, kp wasn't considered an all star playing with Luka, jrue played with giannis during his mvp run, AL is a decade removed from being an all star, D - white wasn't considered super anything before coming to Boston, and Jaylen has at best been 2 team every year. The knock is the talent around Tatum, but Tatum is a big reason that talent gets the shine it gets. They have a LOT of talent. We get to see it because Tatum can be a great teammate in a TEAM sport. Culture matters and is always dictated by your biggest star. If butler doesn't buy in, there is not heat culture. The lazy defense in Dallas survives because, well, Luka is lazy on defense. MJ was cut throat as hell about it on the bulls, Magic fixed laker culture during the Showtime. Luka is more than bad defense, he doesn't elevate his team mates.
@@JulianMurphy-zd2kp "Luka doesn't elevate his teamates". Spoken like someone who doesn't watch Mavs games and doesn't understand how utterly dogshit the team actually is outside of Luka and Kyrie. KP spent basically his entire stint with the Mavs injured or rehabbing from injury, and also him and Luka disliked each other. These 2 reasons are why he got traded away, Dallas literally traded for him because he was an all star. I still have no idea what your point is. Jrue didn't make an all star playing with Gannis, but Kyrie didn't make the all star this year playing with Luka, so that means Kyrie isn't an all-star tier player anymore? Silly arguement lol
People hate the Lakers and Celtics because the media loves them and most of the hate comes from that opposed to anything a player does. Basketball is better when the Lakers and Celtics are irelevant and those teams being in the mix ruins the sport because the media actively starts cheerleading them and talking about the 80s. Its why a big percentage of the basketball community turned on LeBron after he left Cleveland.
I'd say that people were turning on LeBron before then. Btw, basketball is better when the Lakers and Celtics are irrelevant? So basketball is bad right now because the Celtics are killing it?
Tatum is top something player in the league atm. Like it or not, he's a star. And i dont mind star players getting star treatment and notoriety. What i do mind is the way people seem to always move the goalpost whenever it comes to judging him. We never really have a fair judgement in almost every Tatum conversation because it feels like he always has ultra-convoluted caveats to be taken seriously as a superstar. He always needs to do X,Y,Z and be this and that before finally he can achieve that superstar status, while other comparable players tend to be given more leeways. For instance, Devin Booker who had played with two Top 75 NBA All-Time players in Chris Paul and Kevin Durant in his career yet still with 0 ring but most people still have him over Tatum despite the fact Booker is a choker in the playoffs (something which Tatum always has an allegation for). Embiid who never made it past second round, who has always been a dropper in the postseason especially in elimination game, one MVP season and by the way people talk about him, he's now on Shaq level of greatness without having to prove anything anymore. Jimmy, who never won a ring, and lost to Tatum when he and his Miami Heat were clear favorites in elimination game, people still easily put him in current top 5-10 players over Tatum. This will be even more legitimate once Luka finally had a good team around him yet even with that he still underachieves, and people still baby him.
I hate the celtics, I hate all northwest sports, so take this however you want. First, anyone who has Devin Booker or Jimmy Butler over Jayson Tatum is insane. That being said, this idea that Tatum has a different measuring stick is true, but its fair given the context of his career. Tatum has never had a season without another all-star on the team, and has had a top 5 supporting cast every year of his career. Losing to the Warriors in the finals, could've happened to anyone, losing to the Miami Heat twice in the ECF when they're running Jimmy Butler and Bam as their two best players, that's a huge failure. Because of the situation he was drafted into, his expectations are higher, and they should be. It's only a problem because he has routinely failed to meet them. Nobody has ever expected the Mavs to make it past the second round, if they made it, it was a great season because Luka's supporting casts have been awful, but he exceeded expectations when he carried to the WCF and single-handedly dismantled the defending WCF winners. Tatum is easily a top ten player, anyone who says otherwise is delusional, but part of being a superstar is rising to the occasion in big moments, which means winning, and his team losses when they shouldn't too much. He has never been the underdog, which is fine if you win when you're supposed to, but is a problem when you don't. I will also say, Tatum isn't the only player who deals with this, look at Embiid for example. Sure, Embiid won a pity MVP last year, but nobody outside of the media and 76ers fans actually respects him that much because he has been unable to meet expectations when it counts, same goes for prime Harden. Tatum is certainly talented enough to be considered a superstar and a top 5 player, and when he inevitably leads the Celtics to a chip, he will get his flowers. It went the same way for Lebron.
No one has Booker over Tatum. Stop making up lies … other than that I agree with everything.. and Booker and KD are playing full season together unlike last season
Man’s a fantastic player, he’s a two way player to the nth degree, and clearly this season has been a season for the team more than an MVP season. Clearly it’s all or nothing this season, and he’s got that dog in him 100%
As a Heat fan I don't hate Tatum as a person or the player.... I'm admired his greatness of his game. @philipaguila6202 what do I have to lie it's the truth... anybody that cares about their team would tell you the same thing. They respect the players but they just don't respect the team and you know it!
Craziest part is Jayson Tatum is one of the most popular NBA players in the world with top 3 jersey sales in every region, NBA media in the US is the only people that hate him
as a Tatum hater, I'll tell you.. he's NOT the best player on the Celtics, yet the media pushes for him to be the MVP and "face of the league" all because his team is OP... and bro had the audacity to say he's the best player in the league in an interview, like bro, ur not even the best player on ur team on a given night
Bruh.. so the guy who leads his team in pts, trbs, and second in assists while leading them in nearly all advanced stats is not their best player? Don't get me wrong, he has a LOT of help. But he is certainly their best player. Also, a guy who has made two straight all nba first teams said he's the best player in the league? You seriously think that guys such as Tatum (who let me be clear, I don't believe is the best in the league) and shai and those caliber guys don't have the mentality that they're the best? There’s only one correct answer, because he plays for the Boston Celtics. They are the black hat team of the nba. If he played for ANY other team besides the Celtics, they would be talking about him being an all time great already. Even if he wins a championship this year, they will still hate on him. If he wins 3 championships, they will hate on him.
To win MVP on a stacked team, you gotta be as clear of a #1 as, for example, Heat Lebron. And he's just not like that. The "If you take him out of the team" argument is also not that great compared to other candidates. The Celtics might still get home court in the first round without him. (I'm writing this before watching so they might bring up these points)

The narrative that he shrinks in big moments is nonsense. He's the reason they knocked out Philly last year. He's the reason they they made the finals in 2022. @@Mirage475 Embiid is a regular season beast but most people agree he only won the MVP award last year out of pity. Besides, Embiid is like you said a significanrtly worse playoff performer and played like shit for all but 1 game in the Celtics series. Honestly if Tatum played as well as you say that series would've been easy. It went to 7 games because of how inconsistent Tatum was. Tatum can be inconsistent af and still win games because of how good his team is, and then when he has an amazing game like that game 7 of the series he's hailed as a superstar by people like you. When realistically that Phily team played so shit (and was put on the back of Harden for most of the series) that it honestly should never have gone to 7 games. They had no business losing to the Miami Heat either, but as I said, Tatum is inconsistent af in the playoffs. In the regular season this is fine because his team is loaded and the Celtics will still beat most teams if Tatum has a mid-game but this doesn't work in the playoffs against better teams over a series.
@@TrueGuardify it’s funny you mention the team can cover for Tatums inconsistency, because the longest issue was the points generate when he was off the court dropped off a cliff until this season. There's a reason guys like Jimmy Butler do better than Tatum in the playoffs even if Tatum is objectively a better player. Some people just have 'it', the superstar quality, which Tatum doesn't. Jimmy Butler is a weird case because he has 'it' even though he isn't really a superstar.
Don't hate him, I hate the Celtics bc people talk about them being the best team in the East for years despite never winning a ring. I more so hate their fans tbh
He got drafted to a team that made a ECF a year before he got there, has played w/ an All Star (current or former) all but 1 season he's been in the NBA, finally got to a finals and wasn't the leading scorer, rebounder, or distrubtor on his team, and yet when you turn on ESPN you have to hear about this dude being a superstar having it better than any young guy in the NBA and not really winning anything despite having it laid out perfectly for him Devin Booker walked into a horrible franchise, went through the grind, made a final (actually played well in the finals), put up 27-5-5 all of 2 years ago on a team that had the best record in the NBA clear and you didn't hear people in the media talk about MVP. People question if he's even a superstar. Yet a guy like Tatum people look at you sideways if you say anything other than that.
Devin booker finished 4th in MVP voting behind Jokic, Embiid and Giannis who all had better seasons. He also finished that year on the All NBA First team. Bro has received his flower from the media and if he were to have similar team success besides losing in the second round of the play offs in back to back years he will get more.
You don’t watch the Celtics closely and it shows. It’s not his fault Danny Ainge was a great executive and had a successful rebuild. Celtics were trash since 2013, traded for IT at the end of the 2015 season and got lucky that he turned into an all star. They really weren’t meant to be contenders, overachievers is a better way to describe them. Their whole plan was to build around the Jays as soon as they drafted them to eventually give them the keys to the team. Yes he had all star teammates because Boston has been trying to contend in the middle of their rebuild/development process. It’s not his fault they lost in 2018 or 2019. 2020 was the first year they prolly should’ve made the finals but it was Tatum’s first year as an all star. 2021 was a hospital season. 2022 was a miracle season, they played crazy in the 2nd half of the season and somehow made the finals. He didn’t play well but at least he led a team at 24 to the finals. 2023 was the only failed season he’s had so far. Now he’s in his prime, if he don’t get the job done now the criticism is warranted. I didn’t even need to go in full detail to try and defend him, can just say to look at the ages of all time greats to see what age they won their first titles and it shows how impatient fans are today. The dude is getting harden treatment and is like 8 years younger it truly makes no sense.
Yes he choked in 2022 finals at freaking 23 years old and Kobe from 2004 with Shaq played with almost same stats with 2022 Tatum and 2011 Lebron was even worser than these 2 and I don't hear singl whining about these 2😂😂
@@ejp507 It's not his fault Danny Ainge constructed an amazing team, but it is his fault he's inconsistent af in the playoffs but is fortunate enough to get carried by his amazing team when he sucks. In the finals you can't do that. Hell, he's only made the finals once for this same reason despite being heavy favourites each year. Realistically this Celtics team should never be losing to the Heat if Tatum is a 'superstar' like Jokic, Luka, Giannis. It's fine if 'he's young' or 'not ready' but truthfully it's stupid that the Celtics would win the championship for the last 3 years if Luka was on the squad instead of Tatum, yet people still wanna argue that Tatum is better than Luka (who is also younger than Tatum and hasn't hit his 'peak' either), when as you said yourself, it's mostly because he's the beneficiary of amazing roster construction.
He comes up small when it matters. Lost his balls in the Finals and ECFs the last two seasons when he had the better team. Now, this season it’s even more apparent the Celtics have the most talent. They are having a historic season bit lost to Denver twice because Tatum played like ass especially in the clutch. He will be destroyed if they don’t close the deal this season.
As a Celtics fan whose watched all the C's games this year Tatum has been awesome. He hasn't performed well in a couple games but has mostly been clutch. I've noticed he's stopped taking so many pull up 3's with 15+ on the shot clock and is more likely to drive for 2 or kick it back out. (It was painful to see so many missed pull up 3's early in the season) He's surrounded by greats and is still the best on the team. MVP or not I'm hoping this will be banner 18 with JT being a big reason for getting it ☘
There is no argument for Tatum mvp. His per game stats are worse than any other top 4 candidate, his advanced stats are way worse, his efficiency is also worse... His mvp case is just a media invention
@@KalenAlmeida 15 years ago you didn't have like 5 players averaging 30+ points 9-10 assists and/or rebounds per game, so it's not the same comparison,
Ive seen so many people say hes a playoff choker or doesnt show up in the playoffs, and I think that just exposes how many of us are casuals and dont pay attention to the league until the Finals. Tatum has gone to like 20 playoff series and was only bad in 1, which just so happened to be the biggest series of his career
In the whole postseason last year there was ONE GAME where Tatum played like a superstar from start to finish and that was when he dropped 51 in a game 7. Every other game it was 20, 14, 13, 7, maybe a 30.
Bruh every series against good teams he plays he's hot/cold. Great game followed by a dogshit game. You don't see that in Jokic, Giannis, Luka, they dominate every game they play. Tatum's fortunate that his team is still strong af and can carry him when he's playing like kaka lol. By the end of the series the stats will look better than he actually performed if has 3-4 great or amazing games and 3 meh games.
@@Oscar-b5b4x he had bad games yes but the every other game being bad is a little over blown. Against Atlanta 25,29,29,31,19,30 so one bad game there. Philly 39,7,27,24,36,19,51 2 bad games. Miami 30,34,14,33,21,31,14 again 2 bad games where if it wasn't game 7 he probably doesn't return in that game with the ankle injury. 27 average in 20 playoff games last year is still pretty elite.
Jokic and such wont have inneficent games like Tatum on random, which is why theyre better, but whenever Tatum isnt putting up points he's usually faciliating at a great level and playing elite defense@@TrueGuardify
@@jammer9941 I guess we're just gonna ignore his 14.3%, 45%, 40% and 23.8% FG in those games because his ppg are decent, as if he didn't shoot his team out of the games they lost. If you chuck up like 10 threes a game, you're gonna hit at least some of them. Add in a bunch of FT and a few drives and you've gotten 20+ points while shooting terribly and causing your team to lose, nevermind his momentum killing turnovers.
The Tatum no aura narrative is a myth. Majority of ya'll base that off highlights or the few primetime games you've watched. He plays with just as much ferocity as a lot of the other elite guys in the NBA.
"He has amazing/best supporting cast BUT..." I mean seriously how can you even say that with a straight face? You cant make that argument for him and then write off everyone else you mentioned just based on them alone while totally ignoring their support casts. Double standards right there He cant do it with one of the best supporting casts in a league for years and he thinks he should be mvp? If any of other players you mentioned had that kind of supporting cast they would have won ring already. Tatum is really good and legit seems like a good dude but he is one of those jack of all trades, master of none kind of player. And because he is really a media darling, all those talks and excuses about him really rub off plenty of people wrong.

@@fortynights1513 yes since he practically begged them to put him there. Just like Embiid. You ever wonder why no one hates SGA or Jokic compared to the above-mentioned 2?
Honestly, no one puts him in mvp conversations, straight up no one don’t know where your getting that from. He’s also a nice guy who doesn’t play dirty and really hasn’t done anything wrong. Yeah he’s underperformed at times in the playoffs but this man has it made to the conference finals 4 times, he has had success in the playoffs. Yes he was bad in the 2022 finals but honestly, other than that he’s been great in the playoffs. He also is very young only 26 years old. Honestly he shouldn’t be getting any hate. Dirk didn’t win a ring until he was 33 so there’s plenty of time for Tatum.
@StFigarlandGarling he literally has his teammates all vouching for him to be in the MVP and hes begging to be in it. His argument is literally "I dont have the stats but I have more wins so I should win". If I had to boil it down its that hes being pushed to be the one of the faces of the NBA way too hard when hes arguably one of the worst superstars in the league.
@@kalieden5493 “one of the worst superstars” bruh what does that even mean. I mean honestly I don’t see him getting pushed to the face of the league, people don’t actually even really talk about him much. It’s all about Jokic and Embiid, Shai, Luka, Giannis, Tatum kinda feels like he gets pushed to the side.
As a Kobe guy, it's not that I'm defensive of comparisons, it's that they need to be more than superficial. Tatum may play similar to Kobe, but his mentality is not even close. Unfortunately, what made Kobe who he was, was his mentality. I want Tatum to succeed, I want those who appreciate what Kobe gave us in his career to do well. The problem is Tatum draws too much attention to it and he isn't that guy. Kobe and Jordan were 1 of 1's. There are ways to honor your hero without drawing direct comparisons by trying to be them. Kobe's a high bar to be measured against. I think if he was just Jason Tatum and not pretend Kobe. he'd find less of an eye roll reaction amongst some fans. But I hope he finds more success, he seems like a decent guy.
People hate him because he can’t get it done with help that many All Time Greats can’t fathom. Give a young Lebron, MJ, or any other star that didn’t have that help early on that same opportunity and I guarantee that Boston would have more than 17 Banners. Tatum never rises above expectations, his greatest performances are all against teams that he should put away, that’s why I don’t see game 7 against Philly as a statement game but more of a desperation game.
Late but this is from someone I know. Apparently, they don't like Tatum cause of the way he doesn't make use of his size to takeover games and instead would rather use contested fade away jumpshots and three pointers. It's like, imagine if Lebron decided to just do jumpers instead of taking advantage of his size and speed to penetrate to the rim for an easy layup.
Do people really not like Tatum? I think people dont like the narratives around him created by the media (and celtics fans lol). Not the player himself
If Tatum wins a ring this year I think 60/70% of the hate/criticism he receives will go away

On the court I wish he would drive more and not being taking comparable amouts of 3s to curry however hes still a top 10 player in the league rn. Also he is inconsistent in the playoffs some games but literally always shows up in elminination games n game 7s so I really dont care that much.
IVE NEVER SEEN THE TATUM LAKERS VIDEO AHHH FUCK WHY FUCK FUCK FUCK THAT HURT
Man I love Jayson Tatum. Hate how everyone wants to remember his bad games but not any of his spectacular ones (yes in the playoffs). And besides that, one of the nicest and most humble nba players you’ll see. Hope him and JB get their rings this yr
Tatum has been the Celtics best player in every deep playoff run including conference finals and finals the Celtics have had since they drafted him
BOTH Kyrie and and Hayward were injured the entire playoffs in 2018...
So the celtics iteration of the team now is completely different from the team Tatum came into or was even surrounded with his first couple of seasons
Kyrie, Hayward, Morris, kemba, Marcus smart, terry rozier have all come and gone during jaylen and jaysons time in Boston.
Had a "super team" or anything close to it
2020.. AGAIN... The Celtics best players were Tatum and brown...
Marcus smart, now that he shot 29% from 3 instead of like 25%...
Was now Jayson Tatums best teammate besides jaylen brown
THAT was not even close to a superteam
Im not going to break down every season...
But ya act like tatum and brown losing the finals is zome sort if negative mark on their resume
No one else at 23 in this era has even made a finals as their teams best player...
But ya... Talk shit about the one player that did
As a suns fan Tatum is my favorite non suns player maybe it’s because him and booker have similar games but I just love his jumpshot also him postering lebron was special
I don’t hate Tatum. He seems like a chill dude that keeps to himself. But I don’t think he should be mvp this season for three reasons:
Of course, they gonna hate players who joins the Celtics.
Isn’t it obvious they don’t want them to win the championship.
As a Kobe fan, I find Tatum’s Kobe fandom endearing. He just needs to win to change the narrative. Nothing else.
It's really not
we don't "hate" him........we're just tired of the Boston media.....
this is how it works: if a Boston player is good, the media will push him for all-star....if he's all-star level, the media will push him for all-nba....if he's all-nba level, the media will push him for MVP....and if he's MVP-level, the media will push him HoF.........
and this has been going on basically since the foundation of ESPN.....
jayson's fine......he tends to disappear in most big games, and his defense is overrated....but he's young, and he hasn't won anything.....but frankly, videos like this are why we are tired of you, not to mention all the ESPN promotion.......
He’s a genuine dude that’s role model was Kobe. If Tatum wanted to dress as Kobe and text him just let him, even though it’s oddly weird.
How is it weird to cope with a player’s death that he’s loved since he was a kid
Tatum doesnt have aura until he puts 3 fingers to the face and sends the kiss of death to your franchise in a elimination game in the playoffs
the reason he's not mvp caliber rn is because his team would still be a solid playoff team without him. okc denver dallas and milwaukee would be either mid or miss the playoffs because of how much they rely on their mvp candidate's production
Ur right, 2013 lebron didn’t deserve the mvp. Great take you silly silly boy
@@unhhgcrxexhjvuvujchcrzwzwz7956 Lol so you're comparing JT to 2013 Lebron now? Sounds even sillier
As a Celtics fan there isn't any player in leauge I'd swap Tatum for, no exxagerationi
Put Jokic or Luka instead of Tatum on that 2022 Celtics team and they win the finals
Let them create their own narrative man far be it from us to bring up facts lol
Then what the hell was the 2018 Playoffs then? Cuz mans had 2nd year Jaylen Brown and Rozier as his main guys and remember Kyrie and Hayward didnt play that playoffs btw and i dont remember those 2 being all stars and yet he brought Lebron James to a 7 game series in the Conf. Finals

Jocic was being treated until he won a chip, the goalposts are still continually being moved
because hes a celtic and everyone hates boston teams
People hate on Jayson Tatum because he couldn't lead the team to a championship and yet they don't complain about Stephen Curry, Lebron James, or Kevin Durant having a super talented team before winning their first championship? Basketball isn't a sport where you play alone.
When did everybody start hating Jayson Tatum?
This channel should have way more subs. Just stumbled on it and this is some quality shii.
The problem is of course everyone hates Boston not just us everybody, and anybody who was a Boston Celtics fan from their own City well there's there's one in front of you Boston has been how should I said the annoyance team of all in the NBA family.
Stop lying
What do you expect them to say? "Yeah, that guys better then me" That's ridiculous!
people say tatum doesn’t have that “aura”. he has a quiet confidence which makes ppl uncomfortable. and he’s pretty shy.

There are just simply way better players in the league than Tatum and he is getting criticized because he has arguably the most talented team in the league the past few seasons and always shrinks in big moments. He’s an amazing player but there are levels for a reason
The narrative that he shrinks in big moments is nonsense. He's the reason they knocked out Philly last year. He's the reason they they made the finals in 2022. To say someone at such a young age is a bona fide playoff choker is just hard to believe when someone like Embiid who has had significantly worse playoff performance still gets mentioned in the MVP race.
Game 7 against Miami let’s be real if he hadn’t sprained his ankle they would’ve won. His team let him down. Not that it’s an excuse, but his consistency is something I’m less worried about this season since he posts up more. But we will see
@@Mirage475 Let's be real, that Celtics squad has no business even having to go 7 games against Miami if Jayson Tatum is actually a superstar. They are so much more talented, deep, and bigger in every way possible. The Celtics starting 5 is basically composed of all-nba and/or all-star players and somehow I still think the Celtics will find a way to not win this year because Tatum just isn't him lol.
Til he does something note worthy, he will always get hated especially since he’s with Boston

He got drafted to a team that made a ECF a year before he got there, has played w/ an All Star (current or former) all but 1 season he's been in the NBA, finally got to a finals and wasn't the leading scorer, rebounder, or distrubtor on his team, and yet when you turn on ESPN you have to hear about this dude being a superstar having it better than any young guy in the NBA and not really winning anything despite having it laid out perfectly for him
Devin Booker walked into a horrible franchise, went through the grind, made a final (actually played well in the finals), put up 27-5-5 all of 2 years ago on a team that had the best record in the NBA clear and you didn't hear people in the media talk about MVP.
All that typing and you can’t even realize that team that was #1 returned 4 players😂
The hate toward this man is unjustified.
If you really think Joker’s supporting cast is anywhere NEAR Tatum’s your crazy. Same with SHAI and the young OKC. Awful take.
That's not what they said.
MVP or not I'm hoping this will be banner 18 with JT being a big reason for getting it ☘
Saying Tatum is boring is nuts to me he's an iso scorer that can pull
I too have an irrational hatred of the Celtics.
There is no argument for Tatum mvp. His per game stats are worse than any other top 4 candidate, his advanced stats are way worse, his efficiency is also worse... His mvp case is just a media invention

people hate him because hes in conversations hes not meant to be in. he's also just the most privileged player in the league roster wise and has nothing to show for it because of his own doing.
Is it his fault that the media labeled him in the conversation?
Tatum doesnt have that Mamba Mentality yet. But I love him
Late but this is from someone I know.
