Removing the airport is a great idea. I agree that it makes your city look worse. It is rly big and it's too close to the downtown
The International Airport can be swapped out with a smaller airport in the outskirts of the suburbs or on an island like Billy Bishop Airport that only services regional flights and bush planes.
The old downtown port idea is awesome,and it would fit really nice in a new england city.
Can you share some screenshots of the whole city? I really miss when you used to show an aerial view of the city at the beggining of the first videos of New Windsor.

And just an idea for the airport: Export it with Move It before demolishing it...will probably save you a lot of time when you want to rebuild it or build a new airport.
Cant you just move the airport with moveit? Would be ashame if it was to be demolished
Can you make a Seaplane dock? its very common to have seaplane docks near city centeres where there's a lot of water, look at portland, theres a huge sea plane airline hub right next to the international airport

When you think the video must for sure be over and Pres keeps developing new neighborhoods! Cant believe you can pack so much detail into 20min episodes. The custom edited houses really pay off. This is may be one of my favorite New Windsor episodes!

Awesome vid as always man- I actually currently live in Fairfield, the town right over from Westport. You really nailed the aesthetic of the place, especially with the little bungalow summer homes right up against sprawling estates. That public beach is Sherwood Island I'm pretty sure. It's a great place for families and has a lot of picnic areas and a ton of hiking/running trails. There's also a k-12 private school called Greens Farms Academy around that area right in the marshland and across the street from the Long Island Sound. It would be really cool for you to build. Just a suggestion. And yeah the Southport/Westport region has some crazy wealthy people.
Yes, that's Sherwood Island state park, just last summer I started taking my boys there instead of Splashdown. The parking is rather interesting.
Thanks giving Connecticut a shout-out, Westport is a nice town! I've been coupe of times.
I like the idea of removing the airport. Never was a huge fan of it anyways, cant wait to see what goes in its place

Absolutely love it! This is one of my favorite styles of housing/architecture/everything. I respect the decision to rip out the airport. It doesn’t really fit with the city, and you sounded like you have big plans.
There’s a great spot in Newport, Rhode Island on the seashore called Cliff Walk. I think it would fit in. Theres a set of stairs going down to the water that looks really neat. There’s also an abandoned carriage house up there that would be cool to see in New Windsor.
If you want more inspiration for an "old" "small" downtown; check out the Shelton and Derby area in Connecticut. Lots of stone and old factories being turned into new apartments; and in the outside areas of Shelton turn into somewhat 50s era design and giant houses.
i remember driving through Derby in the past...going over the dam and seeing all the old infrastructure. i’ll see if i can fit anything from there into new windsor ^^
I think there should be some transportation like Regional bus hub if you will tear the airport down.. The city is not that small so.. It can be hub in the state.
I've been dealing with the scaling problem recently. I think a little variance is realistic; some older buildings you're practically crouching, some affluent places now have like 12 foot cielings. But I took my ruler to some buildings and some of them are pretty obviously way off; some Green City vanilla assets I was trying to use had like 6 foot cielings.
The game's asset editor lets you scale models when you import them to make a new asset, and I've found that's a relatively simple solution. I believe it stretches the textures in the process, though, so if you warp it more than 25% or so in either direction it can start to look funny.
I would kill for an advanced tree brush, it really is a pain to do mixed trees and high density.
The parking at the beach you mentioned looked like a camping place to me.
I personally think you should move the airport to outside of the main city. Its so beautiful, and would be such a shame if it was lost.

I think you should make space and move the airport into the deep suburbs instead of outright demolishing it completely. Or, as others have suggested, export it to save time.
Totally agree. But You should just “move it” the airport to a far side of the map”.
Also, I hear you don’t use 81 tiles. By all means you know your game’s savefile better than I, but I have used 81 tiles in a city for over a year now. No problems.
I swear on God, if you do a serie with normal speed I'll look at it amazed anyway, cos for people who are still trying to learn, it could be awesome look at you buildings, check the names of your assets, and stuff like this, and at normal speed it will be wonderful!

If you’re looking for New England beach town inspiration old orchard beach in Maine is super kitschy
I think getting rid of the airport is a bad idea. Airports, especially international, are supposed to be giant. In many cases they are small cities in and of themselves. The airport is also in a very realistic spot too as the runways would also behave as a storm buffer for the high value downtown. The new ideas sound great, I just wish there was some other place they could go.

Just make another single-runway airport, it will occupy less space and will fit better in other areas

The power lines add a really nice effect to the whole area. You should move the airport or scale it down rather than get rid of it completely :\

@@PresCities Yeah, you mentioned the issue with building scaling in this episode and I think that kind of permeates the entire game- population numbers are low, you work with a much smaller footprint than any self-repecting city, etc. simply because trying to simulate a city to scale would probably light people's computers on fire. Airports especially suffer, since a runway that's accurate length looks ridiculously huge in game compared to everything else, and takes up way too much space.
If you were to rebuild an airport somewhere else, it would have to be way smaller, yeah. There's probably plenty of sources for referencing a smaller regional airport, though I only know of the one on Cape Cod and the one in Oxford, CT. But I'm assuming that's a project for a good ways down the line.

just an idea, maybe try saving the airport and then plopping it down elsewhere inland
for example, in hartford (whose airport is very similar to yours, i forgot if it’s based off it or something lol) it’s a little further inland. you could even pull a newark and be only separated from the water by a highway skdkjd
@@eeeeeoww Yeah, the airport is based off of Bradley (technically in Windsor Locks), and calling it "inland" is an understatement.
So what's the going rate a home in New Windsor in a nice area? Would love to live there.
I think he could have used one or two parking lots next to the beach to make it more realistic. Other than that, it looks fantastic!

If you are going to remove the airport (great idea btw) I suggest you renumber the episodes so new viewers don't get confused when they see the airport videos.
