Though I doubt any adaption could possibly do half good as the book especially this is a book full of wordplay and flamboyant language, the soundtrack and casting, however, makes up for everything.

It’s sad that the movie was so romanticized by people to the point where you wanted them to end up together. If you actually can’t recognize the abuse, read the book. Not only is she 12 but the book is brilliantly written and it gives the reader much more vivid idea of what abusive relationships like this are.
