Original father, gone. Mother died in an accident. Step-father that preyed on you for his fantasies. Ran away with another predator. Now married, pregnant & in debt. And I believe she is still under 18. She really didn't deserve any of this. If her mother was still alive all of this could've been prevented. A tragedy.

Her mother blamed her too although Humbert was the only guilty one. In fact her mother was in love with Humbert and reacted jealous when she realised that he was interested in Lolita. @@DanielsThierry it’s told through Humbert’s perspective. He thinks she instigated it but in reality he was a predator. The book makes it clear. What child wants their mother to die then they’re kidnapped and driven across the USA while being sexually abused by a guy they knew for a few months? Humbert preyed upon her innocence. It’s also probably likely the entire movie is romanticized and not actually the events that went down, just how Humbert perceived and/or wants his readers to perceive them (as Lolita is his memoir).

I know well what the protagonist in the Lolita movie feels and it's a horrible feeling because just seeing a person you love so much brings you back to life...which isn't nice especially if that person is dry and plays with your feelings..... falling in love is just a smell that your brain perceives and some people have a very dangerous smell, they enter inside you like a possession and you spend years trying to remove it... if you love a person in these conditions you see them everywhere and like a ghost that goes around the city and that you can't help but see
