Right now i'm waiting for 20 minutes so i'll update this comment when i'm ready Update: so it was still kind of liquidy, but i just added a little more flour when i worked with it and it's perfect now . Now for the hour long wait, i'll update in an hour. Also, the cookie dough was just like this video, no problems there. Update 2: dough is perfect, made the buns, flattened the cookie dough, put it on the buns, put sugar on half of the buns, made the marks, now for the 40 minute wait. Final update: Instead of the minutes in this video, mine were 30 minutes in the oven. After cooling down i took a bite and OH MY GOD IT'S DELICIOUS!! Thank you for this recipe!!!!! The cookie crust was thin, crusty and still light. The sugar on top was perfect. The bread itself was fluffy. This is one of my favorites on this channel. I can't wait to make more.

Some recipes say to add butter when kneading the dough and some just add melted butter before kneading. Why? And this bread looks amazing, thank you for always making good simple recipes!!
I guess my egg was small but I needed more liquid at the bun part. Also it was pretty salty if you don't like to eat salty and sweets together you should add less. I prefer more of the cookie side so if I ever bake this I'll prepare less dough. Thin cookie didn't satisfy me enough. I've wanted to do this recipe forever and I finally did it today.

I made them yesterday. It turned out ok except the cookie dough part on top. Mine just melted while it was cooking in the oven. And the cool diamond shape just disappeared and cookie dough melted on the side. It tasted good but the shape was not pretty like on the video..
do you measure your flour by mass (with a scale) or by volume (measuring cups)? When I measured 400g flour, the dough was not as dry as yours so I thought you might’ve used measuring cups

@@chanchanko4633 learnt this from a very old anime called yakitate japan. Think of it as the early 2000s shokugeki no soma about baking.
You can substitute the vanilla extract for other flavors. Also..i think sometimes ppl use machi powder maybe? For the green

I tried the recipe, why the pattern can't turn out clearly? and the shape is not round enough? also the side is broken, am I cut the pattern too hard?
