    I'm making this right now, and at 4:05, mine isn't dry like that, it's pretty liquid, almost. But i've made bread alot so this is just going to be fine.
    Right now i'm waiting for 20 minutes so i'll update this comment when i'm ready
    Update: so it was still kind of liquidy, but i just added a little more flour when i worked with it and it's perfect now .
    Now for the hour long wait, i'll update in an hour.
    Also, the cookie dough was just like this video, no problems there.
    Update 2: dough is perfect, made the buns, flattened the cookie dough, put it on the buns, put sugar on half of the buns, made the marks, now for the 40 minute wait.
    Final update: Instead of the minutes in this video, mine were 30 minutes in the oven.
    After cooling down i took a bite and OH MY GOD IT'S DELICIOUS!!
    Thank you for this recipe!!!!!
    The cookie crust was thin, crusty and still light. The sugar on top was perfect. The bread itself was fluffy. This is one of my favorites on this channel. I can't wait to make more.

      Hi. Do you use bread flour or all purpose flour? The vid state all purpose flour so i wonder why its not using bread flour

    I made 2 batches of these last Christmas and New year.
    First time I tested half of them with some cane sugar for the topping instead of crystal sugar, they were delicious.

    i thought this whooole time, melon bread tastes like melon. but i didn't see any tiny bit of melon flavoring here. turns out melon may refer to its appearance(?)

      Yea, same. Tho that’s because the ones I’ve seen have a light green food colouring mixed in. So I thought it had this type of green melon my mom used to buy a lot. Maybe I’ll make some with some of that melon’s juices. 🤔

      @@chanchanko4633 learnt this from a very old anime called yakitate japan. Think of it as the early 2000s shokugeki no soma about baking.

      You can substitute the vanilla extract for other flavors. Also..i think sometimes ppl use machi powder maybe? For the green

    I've just made this and really enjoyed it, I only cooked for 20 minutes as my oven is a bit temperamental. I also think that bread itself could be a little sweeter, but that's my own tastes. Thanks for the video!!

    Well... All video I was waiting for "add melon" and nothing 😂😂😂 I knew the bread only from anime / manga so I was curious about pastry with melon, hehe, stupid me.
    But in the end without real melon it looks more easier, all things I have home, so thanks a lot for recipe, I'll try it soon.

      It's pretty much the same. I use a recipe for conchas and the difference I saw is melon bread has more milk and less eggs

    When i was in my kindergarten years i used to buy it everyday near in my kindergarten bakery shop. And now i missed it very much and it's kinda hard to find now in Singapore. There's gokoku Japanese bakery shop here and there but it's kinda far from me. Hopefully i will find it on random bakery shop and buy as much as i want! ❤

    Hello! I've been wondering about this for a long time but when you at butter during kneading and when do you add melted butter to the dough? Some recipes say to add butter when kneading the dough and some just add melted butter before kneading. Why?
    And this bread looks amazing, thank you for always making good simple recipes!!

      Hi..i try both ways..adding butter to kneading more better than melted butter.i find more softer and fluffy if adding butter while kneading.🤗

    I guess my egg was small but I needed more liquid at the bun part. Also it was pretty salty if you don't like to eat salty and sweets together you should add less. I prefer more of the cookie side so if I ever bake this I'll prepare less dough. Thin cookie didn't satisfy me enough. I've wanted to do this recipe forever and I finally did it today.

    One of many great videos of yours! A question for your help. if the butter has to be unsalted or salted is okay? I recently brought a salted butter and I hope I can use it up by making cookies or bread or cake? the content of salt is 4%. Thank you very much!

    Hi, thank you for the recipe. I want to make this but how many grams of flour should I use for the cookie dough? It just says 2 and a quarter cups but I’m not sure how much that makes? 😅

    How many grams of flour go in the cookie dough? Every thing has grams added but that step hasn’t we dont use cups and spoons measuring here

      I don’t think you need this info anymore since it’s a year ago but a lot of recipes have included bread flour/cake flour I personally am finding a recipe that don’t need bread flour lol

    I made them yesterday. It turned out ok except the cookie dough part on top. Mine just melted while it was cooking in the oven. And the cool diamond shape just disappeared and cookie dough melted on the side. It tasted good but the shape was not pretty like on the video..

    do you measure your flour by mass (with a scale) or by volume (measuring cups)? When I measured 400g flour, the dough was not as dry as yours so I thought you might’ve used measuring cups

    I tried the recipe, why the pattern can't turn out clearly? and the shape is not round enough? also the side is broken, am I cut the pattern too hard?

    I saw this in a manga I was reading and wanted to try making it. Will make tomorrow! I'm excited
    Edit 1: I'm making it right now (waiting for dough to rise.) And my cookie dough was much harder then in the video... aswell as the bread dough.
    Edit 2: They are in the oven now... IM SCARED. I should've spaced them out more but they look fine
