Mine was missing the same screw, so probably cost saving.
have you found any higher capacity replacement batteries for this 1st. gen A1, or something to get better lifetime lige the 2nd. gen A1?

Thank you for your comment. That's strange, why they have done this way to mis one screw in the production.? I do not thing is the saving cost.
I'm not sure if to can replace the battery with another type. It need to me the same voltage and W.

The gen 1 A1 has a battery pack made from 2 x 18650 cells of 2600mah capacity wired in series to give 7.4v. I replaced the cells with 2x 3500mah, but I had to solder them with the bms circuit. Battery life is better.

Hey Psub and KoseTrading, I just opened my A1 and wondered about the missing screw too, but then I realised the fourth hole on the battery assembly is actually held in place by one of the first five screws of the speaker assembly. So no cost saving measures or forgotten screws, just smart design!
