@@Gusseig No DLC are strictly required, but you will get locked out of some handfuls of interesting mechanics. It's still very playable without DLC, but you aren't getting the full experience.

This mod is pretty awesome. I would recommend checking out the Anbennar mod, as i think that will show you a picture of how much a mod can grow. Anbennar started out in a fairly similar way to this, as a template with a large amount of missing content, but has slowly been getting better for years. I think this mod will learn lots from anbennar, and will become great over time
Just a note, you can also get the subscription which includes all the DLC and will save you a bundle!
Another option is to get a base game (Instant gaming has it on a quite big discount) and a friend which owns the DLCs - in multiplayer, DLCs of the host decide what is available to everyone.
As someone with over 10000 hours in EU4, I love when new things come out by the community. Thanks for covering this!
The joke among EU4 players is that the "tutorial" ends after 1000 hours of gameplay. It takes a while to get all the mechanics down.
Lots of potential in Mods for other games to get a good Warhammer experience. Another worth highlighting is The Old Realms for Mount&Blade II: Bannerlord
just now i realized how anbennar west cannor and escann is similar to the old world of fantasy
Yeah they're both jumbled versions of Eurasia and Africa, though Warhammer is definitely closer to the source, so to speak
I know that other people probably mentioned this in the comments but you should try the mod of Anbennar, it has nothing to do with Warhammer but it's arguably the best total conversion fantasy mod for EU4 and it has an original world with it's own lore
Neat! I had an idea to do the same thing for Hearts of Iron IV (another Paradox grand strategy game taking place during WW2), seeing as the modding community can do Fallout, My Little Pony, Alternate History, and Warhammer 30k among others. The only problem is I don’t know how to mod and it’s been years since I’ve played the game.

Glad to see you cover the Warhammer overhaul mod for EU4. I haven't tried it out yet but I certainly plan too. EU4 is one of my favorite games of all time and like Total War Warhammer 3 it has countless hours of replay potential (even more than Warhammer 3 i'd argue which is saying something). I've been playing it since 2015 as a kid and I still learn new aspects of the game to this day and have plenty of campaigns which I still haven't played despite my massive recorded play time on Steam. Bit of a side note, but if you enjoy the historical time period of EU4 like I do then the game is a must play despite its age and difficult initial learning curve.
5:27 I have over 4.100 hours in EU4 and still discover new stuff all the time. Please don't worry, you are not stupid haha

Just checked and apparently I haven't played this game in over 4 years now. Having said that, it's probably still my third favourite game ever (still too nostalgiapilled on RCT2 and the old Pokemon games) and this mod may just pull me back in.
Also, one very important point about Paradox' games: If you play multiplayer, whoever is hosting the game shares ALL of their DLC with everyone so if you have a group only one person needs to have all the DLC for everyone to play them.

I belive their is a subscription service for all of the DLCs so you can test it for relatively cheap and maybe buy it all later!

Daisy Kurt von Helboring II is currently not present if you play as Averland, but it's still early in the mod's development, so I'd expect them to make some for of appearance once they get to making bespoke content for Averland.
In a Crusader Kings mod he definitely would be, but in EU4 it's more rare to model individual characters like that

The only thing i hate about this mod is chaos and vampiric corruption its so painfull in this mod
Damn. This makes me actually want to buy EU4, although i'm guessing you need all the DLC for the game? Which if it's anything like Crusader Kings is going to be a huge amount of money
The game plus DLC is just over $200 if you buy the bundle on steam right now. I've been playing EU4 since it was released back in 2013, so the cost of DLC was spread out for me over the course of those 12 years. I can definitely see how someone trying to get into the game now will get a serious case of sticker shock.
@@anon_234 yeah, same for me with CK2, as the DLC was all spread out it didn't seem too bad, but when you look at if you bought it all in one go it's a hefty amount even on sale
Paradox also offers a dlc subscription service thing which you can look into
damn imperial propaganda got me good. i thought the only civilised human factions in the old world were bretonnia, nehekara and the empire. i don't care about ind and khuresh anymore, i just want the dogs of war dlc to come out so i can make the new reman empire without any of the holy in it
