3 years ago Michael carried the big bertha b21 297 yards with 110 swing speed. Seems the marketers have to be more innovative than engineers these days
I like what the max brings but not the draw bias.can the draw bias weight be removed or neutralised. You answered my question, lower the loft. Great review Michael
They do look very nice, I just am not convinced about the carbon face. I can't really see the benefit over titanium. Long-term durability concerns, too. If it weren't so expensive, maybe that wouldn't matter so much.
Saving weight with the carbon face is main difference.
Totally agree. Not a fan. Seems like a lot of distance is lost vs Titanium
I think carbon is cheaper than titanium and they are charging more for it.
I feel the same about the carbon face.
Would love to see a SIM 2 vs QI10 standard ! Cheers
Sim2 and M6 will perform just as good
@@jaybrune7937 that’s what i assume as well just curious , I have the SIM2 max I like the added forgiveness with out sacrificing looks, the heads not huge like the QI10 max
LS is made for Michael! Excellent review
fascinating #stats from michael on this one. his very 1st swing w LS was really smoked. by the end of the video I thought, oh boy these #s are going to be off the charts. IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. none of his other swings measured up in CARRY or TOTAL yards and was unable to surpass that 1st swing. michael might have had an OFF day.
Yes Michael has nailed it once again with this in depth review - all the aspects covered except for one. I did not hear him mention the effect the grooves on these TM drivers also they were on the Stealth models. What benefit if any are the grooves on the carbon face compared to titanium faces. Interesting. Does anyone know. Do there have to be grooves cos its carbon?
I could be wrong, but i think it has to do with how they have to put a bunch of layers of carbon together as opposed to just one piece of titanium
Great review. The question is whether it's worth it to drop a grand on a new driver that will show only fractional improvements over drivers of the past.
YES!!!!!
So TaylorMade say the new face secures better to the head, an acknowledgment of a design fault in the Stealth? Seems like in light of all the faces falling off the Stealth. MOI at 10,000 in the max, Stealth max was 8500, and that’s the MOI of the LS version in the Qi10. All of this renders the Stealth well and truly redundant, resale value? Suspect it will drop like a stone and all the residual stock in retailers, good luck with that. The obsession with annual release rather than bi annual, means redesign for redesigns sake, this might be the first real improvement since the SIM
Ya cant give my stealth 2 away lol bought a SIM 2 max .
@@wnfakind9197😂😂😂😂 I was not a fan of Stealth at all. I hit my SIM 25 yards further than the first Stealth
Yep I have heard that as well. They are now owned by a Private Equity Firm, which are notorious for slashing costs and in golf, you are going to suffer major quality issues. Taylor Made is no longer the go to Driver of choice
While I love the stealth woods (mainly the plus versions) the stealth 2 driver including the stealth 1 I didn’t like. Had the Sim 2 max, gaming the qi10 core model and I absolutely love it.
Even if it’s slightly better than my sim 2, I love the crown on this one
Great comparison. Lots to consider
Boy, I would have liked to have seen 1 good strike with the Core/middle model. This is the one everyone is playing, Rory, Scottie, Brooks, etc... It can't be such a ballooning high spin
Michael, didn’t you hit the Callaway ai smoke considerably longer?
On average, hit the Qi10 LS farther than the Ai Smoke TD but only by 2 yards. The regular Qi10 was way shorter than the Ai Max by like 10 yards. The Qi Max which I guess equates to the Ai Max D (?), was very close with only a yard separating them but that's only after he turned it down to 7°.
No, average carry was better with the LS
Sorry, was talking the standard models not the LS
@@jessienidiffer9440 Yeah I figured that you were after looking at the charts. Crazy that he had to turn the Max down to 7° to get it to put up decent numbers.
Time will tell if the Qi10 is successful. I’m sticking with my Callaway
Can you move the mic farther away? When you swing, you could hear your jacket rubbing. Just sounds weird.
Even set at 7* the “10k” max head is spinning damn near 3200 rpms😂
It's a clunker, short and fat !
PING 10k crushing this thing
Wow… very spinny once you got out of the LS model. Yes some on the standard Qi10 were low strikes, but on the max you middled the last 2 strikes with 7.5 degree loft and they still both spun above 3,000. And the Ventus Blue velocore in X flex is hardly a spinny shaft! You’d need to play a VERY low spin ball with that driver, but that might not suit your irons and wedge play.
Shafts don’t cause spin, that’s a myth. They alter delivery conditions which can change the way the face creates spin. So with that, the ventus blue may be delivering the face at an angle that while middled on the face might be slightly open and creating spin.
@@c0rndog748 I’ve watched Michael hit lots of different drivers with exactly the same Ventus Blue X flex shaft, and they haven’t spun anywhere near the same amount. So it’s fair to conclude that this TM head is SUPER spinny. I mean, a pretty centred strike lofted down at 7.5 degrees still spun over 3,300 rpm. No thanks
@@cameronloveless1751 I think it’s a fair assessment to say he’s a high spin player though to be fair as well. In his stealth 2 and stealth 2 vs qi10 video he was hitting spin rates of 2800-3500+ where as people like Kevin at second swing or Ian at club champ they were posting 1800-2400 for the qi core and max head as well as stealth 2 club back when Matt blois was with club champion
@@c0rndog748 he may be, definitely prefers to hit a fade so makes sense. But I Stealth and Stealth 2 were spinny heads also. Saw a lot of reviewers having to loft them down relative to other drivers they tested. I’m sure there are some low spin players out there who would benefit.
Sadly taylormade have lost their way with drivers. They have well known reliability issues with the Carbon faces and i know a fewl pretty high speed players who've had issues with the face.
Likewise Stealth drivers just arent seen at my local club like Ping, Callaway and Titleist. They need to get back to Titanium fast OR come up with a complete 1 piece carbon face and crown, not a face glued on to a Titanium frame. The worlds strongest glue isnt gonna hold up compared to a laser welded face.
Agree
That's also because the Stealth driver were very unforgiving, just like this LS driver. The Max of the QI seems to sacrifice a lot of distance and has way too much spin. The only one worth considering is the standard QI. Or better yet, just get the TSR2.
Cor they spin up a lot for you 🤯
Make golf great again bring back the persimmons
Qi10..? Xiaomi??
I am not too sure right now about Taylormade Qi10. At the end of the day if you do not have a good swing all these drivers are a waste of time, and very expensive. Every year a new driver or a set of irons come in all brands. Not worth buying.
For the time being I will stick to my Taylormade Burner 3 Driver. It works for me. For me that is the best Taylormade has ever produced.
Bottom looks better than the top
Qi10 Max is forgiveness worth losing 10-15 yards per drive? I'll have to say no to that.
Yikes 3500-4000 spin
Night and day from that junk stealth in performance and looks, not even close. I personally feel like Titanium's face is FAR superior. R7 is still the best driver made to this day...
From Fargiveness to Forgiveness 😂
Pretty much every Max ball was an on the line ball- it's straight .
I don’t care about forgiveness. Just want distance and short iron or wedge in
Not very impressive for distance at all. With any of them, simply looks like a recoloured SIM2 with the blue carbon face aka Stealth 2. Maybe somewhat more forgiving, and they do have a somewhat attractive look but I would never put the cash out for it. I’ll stick with Paradym or Epic Max LS, or my older Taylormade M1 from 2017.
Not very impressive on distance and questionable forgiveness. Need to compare to TSR 2 and TSR3 to see where they stand.
clearly not worth an upgrade. numbers look worse than Stealth and Sim and M2
You mention numbers and I just did a quick check of one of the drivers and the M2 - he was swinging it a full 5/6mph faster. He may have a bad back, who knows
Definitely lost some speed over the years #oldboy 😏
good observation. after his 1st swing w the LS, all the other numbers looked a little off. even with some slight mishits, he got the convo going on TM's direction releasing the QIs.
Swing it you will change your little opinion
I like dark blue men
Kinky.
spin, spin, spin wow not great.
I just picked up one
It's lighter than the stealth 2
I lost 10 yards with it first day with it
@@erichoward1731 now that is not good.
Worst TM Driver I've ever seen... Looks cheap... TM going down hill... 😪
Is the ls a 460cc head too?
