This was meant to publish today lmao, must have scheduled it wrong.
    Some notes:
I checked, Gilliam does in fact get doubled by a soldier in the vulnerary tutorial, though he dodges one of the attacks.
We probably overstated how much the killing edge would help Marisa. It's just one might, I was thinking it was two. It would still help, but not by as much as I thought.
Ranger Gerik is indeed light enough to be picked up by more units

The real question is why Natasha joins later than Moulder with a lower level and less staff rank. A staffer trainee unit? Why? Especially when the actual staff trainee is L'Arachel. Reverse their join times and now you can just roll with whichever one you like more.

The reason I wouldn't put Franz in Pretty Good is because I don't think he offers anything impactful. A moderately trained Franz (so not going out of your way to play slowly and avoid giving kills to Seth) won't significantly out-perform Kyle/Forde, and you don't need to invest as much in them to reach promo (which is basically the entire goal, you don't need your secondary Paladin to do much combat). And you'd rather be investing in Vanessa anyway, because she offers something valuable that Seth can't replicate (unlike Franz). Not to mention that investing in Seth himself has better payoff. And it's not like Franz is good out of the box, and thereby making an impact early regardless of whether you train him or not. You also just don't need that many combat-capable units, and you get plenty of them without even trying as the game progresses (Gerik, Duessel, Saleh, Cormag...).

Well, I wouldn't put Forde and Kyle into Pretty Good, either, so that makes a good chunk of what I said probably not so convincing if you think they do go into Pretty Good. But I would think the best argument for those two going into Pretty Good is mobility/rescue-drop utility, not the combat that your conversation focused on.

On the subject of Ewan. I think he still deserves low tier, but if you are willing to play slow enough, you can get Ewan to level 10 on his join map in Erika route. I was playing that chapter while listening to this and he hit it right at the end. He's still bad, but his training arc can be literally his join chapter and a little babying on chapter 14 or something. And as far as what he should become I don't think summoner is needed in this game, but mage knight isn't terrible, nor is druid.

My off-the-cuff tier list, sticking to the 4-tier format, before listening (unordered within tiers):
    Seth: Seth
Really Good: Cormag, Duessel, Gerik, Moulder, Saleh, Tethys, Vanessa
Pretty Good: Artur, Ephraim, Myrrh, Tana
Just Okay: Dozla, Forde, Franz, Garcia, Innes, Joshua, Knoll, Kyle, Lute, Natasha, Ross, Syrene
Not So Good: Amelia, Colm, Eirika, Ewan, Gilliam, L'Arachel, Marisa, Neimi, Rennac
Okay, so I do have a fifth tier, but come on. Seth has to be in Seth tier because he's very Seth.

I still stand by Great Knight Amelia, most of the benefits of general + incredible speed = a really interesting, unique unit
Not saying she's good, but I think that it gives her a really fun and rewarding niche if you put in the effort
Sadly Marisa doesn't really get to that point. I think she should have had B swords and a nutty skill/luck growth for crit fishing (or lethality fishing)

I could see moving Joshua up to Pretty Good, he's probably the unit I was most torn on. I do think the lack of 1-2 range matters a lot, and I think just being pretty good at 1-range combat doesn't offer enough in the context of when he shows up, and the maps are small enough that Seth can generally just do everything. But I'd probably have to go through it chapter by chapter to really assess the balance.

The takes from the tier list were so bad, Lizard needed to get backup. (Teasing).

IMO, you could just not bother with any of Colm's thief utility and be completely fine. Which is why I put him in Not So Good. I wouldn't mind bumping him up to Just Okay, but he just feels so low impact to me.

FE Sacreder Stones gives Aemelia Galeforce+! If she kills everyone can go again! Unfortunately, she’s still just ok because Seth got Paragon as a personal.

Gerik not in Really Good is too spicy. Endgame ready bases means he's always there for you, be it in 0%, an iron man, or just because training whatever other unit didn't go well (or you didn't bother). As for mobility, it is unfortunate how difficult he is to rescue, but you're likely to have a few units that can do it (specifically, any of the unpromoted pegs or cavs).

1:11:42 - I partially object to this. I think she is a social experiment to see how many people justify using a unit just because they have cool crit animations.

IMO Lute is comfortably worse than Artur. Artur is easier to train and there's a better payoff for doing so. And really, neither of them are all that impressive. I'd sooner move Artur down to Just Okay than Lute up to Pretty Good.

Lack of mount puts him behind Vanessa, Cormag, and Duessel
