    Here Is How I Power My Rigs What Are You Doing?

    • @snarksdomain

      I've got something I'm testing out soon. I'll be using a 1200 watt server PSU, 300 watt pico's, hooked up to an X11 AMP breakout board.
      Using a Molex Mini Fit Jr extractor tool I'm de-pinning two of the normal 6 wire PCI-E cables and using 4 of the 12 wires to power the pico, and the other 8 for an EPS CPU power connector.
      I found the female Molex Mini Fit Jr's press on firmly onto the 4 male pins of the Pico. So I'm putting them on and heat shrinking the 4 of them together into a snug fitting "connector".
      Perhaps I can make you some of these cables so you can try them out. Just waiting on the 8 pin EPS connectors to arrive.

    Hmm I wander if there’s a not too expensive way you could make your server psu’s hot swappable like how the octominers offer that capability but for your whole shelf or sections of your shelf.

  • @LarsLarsen77
    @LarsLarsen77 Год назад +2

    I had a bunch of motherboard risers missing from my case for some reason, and after about 10 years like that my motherboard bent enough (under it's own weight) to break some traces or otherwise kill the motherboard. I would not leave motherboards leaning against something like that.

    Recomended voltage for 3950x?
    I have some issues with one of my 3 RTM CPU rigs. One of them randomly disconnected after few days (2 days, 10 days...). After the incident it's not possible to check it by remote. The others are pretty stable. Using HiveOS. All rigs running via same switch.
    What I tried is to connect to one of online rigs and ping the others in LAN (see different IP addresses).
    As you can see on following screen second rig gave me response, but problematic rig didn't. So I think it's not just offine, but totally crashed because ping is realized within LAN.
    If I restart the rig by power supply OFF/ON. It'll start and mining...

    i just go the 1 case and psu per cpu rig. More space and expense but i can easily move and stack the cases as I need. Easy to move around and self contained. Trick is to buy cases and quality psus when they're on sale to keep costs down.

    Hey there! I've been following you for some time now. I am very curious what your opinion is about mini pc's? I've been looking really closely at a Minisforum products. They are currently offering 2 minis based off the AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX. One model comes with the Radeon 680M and the other one the Radeon 6650M. Neither may be as powerful as an Ryzen 7950X, but hey, they sip power being mobile processors and you can pack many into a small space. Thoughts?

    In my country one ATX 250W PSU no gpu output sells at 40CNY(~$6 equivalent). Brand new, and power cable included. Perfect for powering a 3900X rtm rig. My total single 3900X rig cost around $270.

      My first 10 rigs I’m using 450W version with MB and GPU splitter (I asked you questions sometimes my rig won’t boot up simultaneously if you remembered :)) That one cost ~$10 and cable cost ~$3. Later I decided it’s not worth the trouble and effort. Then I diverted to one rig with one psu we talked above.
