Thank you so much for having me Mark!
Within the time since I've done this interview, I was able to check with my DA and I have the ok to make his name public.
    His name is Kevin Ahern.
On Megan's law you can find his picture and info, he is also still currently absconded although DA investigators are still looking.
I'm happy that I'm able to share his name, I just wanted to be sure I had permission because he was found guilty but not sentenced. Luckily this is all public information and I am not bound by any laws to keep his identity a secret.
I am touched by the comments, I have been met with nothing but love and support... and also those of you fellow survivors in the comments, nothing but bravery and strength. Thank you. I'm speechless.

For me it can be a tricky word … for unforgivable actions… I have just decided in my life to let go of hating them.
I don’t know if that is forgiveness… they are not off the hook for their actions… I don’t want the hate I have towards them to eat me up anymore. It’s a process… some days I struggle more to release the hate than others. It’s not a one-and-done decision.

A few days ago my 71 year old mother told me about an encounter she had with a family friend when she was 13 and he was 17. He tried to rape her but she got away. She never told anyone and just told me about it. It infuriates me that this happens to girls and they are afraid to tell. I actually see the guy often that did this to my mom and it takes everything in me not to hit him with my car when I see him out!

It's was a very brave decision to share your story & go to law enforcement as I know you were retraumatized having to relive it all in your testimony. I am sorry that has to be part of the process when trying to convict a vile criminal. It's also amazing to see from the comments that sharing your story on Mark's channel, has had a positive affect on many that have experienced the same or similar atrocities as you! Good for you for taking care of yourself thru therapy! I have heard EMDR therapy mentioned quite a bit lately & all of it has been positive. I am so glad there are therapies like this available that do a good job at helping people who need help managing & navigating life as a result of their trauma! I’m not trying to change your mind on forgiveness but I asked ChatGPT Why Christians believe we must forgive. Here’s what ChatGPT said…
“In Christian theology, the concept of forgiveness is central to the teachings of Jesus Christ. The idea is rooted in principles of love, compassion, and redemption. Here are a few key reasons why forgiveness is emphasized in Christianity:
      1. **Divine Example:** Christians believe that God is a forgiving God and that He offers forgiveness to humanity through Jesus Christ. This serves as a model for Christians to follow in their interactions with others.
      2. **Redemption and Salvation:** Forgiveness is seen as a pathway to redemption and salvation. Christians believe that through forgiveness, individuals can be reconciled with God and find spiritual healing.
      3. **Love and Compassion:** Jesus taught the importance of loving one's neighbor and showing compassion. Forgiveness is seen as an act of love and mercy towards others, even when they have wronged you.
      4. **Breaking the Cycle:** Forgiveness is often seen as a way to break the cycle of hatred, revenge, and resentment. By forgiving others, Christians aim to promote peace and reconciliation.
      5. **Personal Growth:** Forgiving others can also lead to personal growth and emotional healing. It can free individuals from the burden of holding onto anger and grudges.
It's important to note that forgiveness in Christianity is not always easy, and it does not mean condoning or excusing wrongdoing. This concept of forgiveness is deeply rooted in Christian teachings and values.”

I am so sorry my phone is acting up. I am so proud of this young lady for turning him in. It had to be so very hard to face that creep in court. She saved her self many more years of suffering, by getting it out and standing up for her self against a creep who has gotten away for years, hurting other young women. I was raped at 19 years old, and i know how it screwed me up for many many years, because I could not turn him in. I always was grateful he did not do to me what that savage did to this young woman. Katelin, your my hero. You will not have another nervous break down. Please don't worry about that. No more secrets to carry. Your free now. CA. needs that law changed. No way should it be against the law after what he did to you, for you not to be able to warn other women of who he is. Thank you for sharing your story Katelin. You will save another young person, by telling yours. I wish you all the best now and in your future.

Kaitlin is strong, brave, and courageous. As a psychotherapist forgiveness can be detrimental to healing on many fronts. A father who forgives a child's rapist can send a message to the child that the rape was not all that bad or even significant. There is a certain karmic rhythm to life. Sometimes karma dictates we move on however we do not forgive. Keep going Kaitlin you are a powerful force for good.

people who say you should forgive people who have no remorse and aren't asking for forgiveness are, whether openly or secretly, pieces of sh who don't want the consequences of their actions.
You don't need to forgive anyone to move on. The only catch is that you also cannot dwell on wishing you could get back at them. You have to move on and focus on your own future. But that isn't the same as forgiveness. F that. If they ever need your help, ignore them, or like for her if you have the opportunity to put them in prison for their actions, do it. They deserve it.
Also, people who genuinely ask for and earn forgiveness is a different story

How is it that he was allowed out of jail after being convicted, before sentencing? He had a prior and had fled on that one, seems like he would not have been allowed to bail out given his flight risk. And for such a heinous crime. Sometimes our justice system just boggles my mind.
