Crumbling Together by Mid Air Thief is literally the most BEAUTIFUL song I’ve ever heard in my life. Stunningly airy fingerpicked guitars at the beginning and intimate whispered vocals with these little interjections of lush synth pads. Then all the sudden the song opens up into a chasm of soaring vocals, sparkling synths, and textures that are so dense it’s nearly impossible to tell what’s acoustic and what’s electronic. The song had so many sections, and each one is more beautiful than the last. I think it’s a perfect song

If I had to recommend one I'd have to recommend three
    - The Rip by Portishead: simply an amazing Folktronic song with progressive electronic influences. The synths evoke a reflective feeling which by the end of the song makes you feel like you've been healed after a long period of melancholy and bittersweetness
    - Orphan's Lament by Robbie Basho: an absolutely impeccable song from an impeccable album. His singing creates an image in my head of going to the fields of Wyoming and feeling the breeze as you reminisce your whole life and the future that may or may not await you, accepting what that destiny may be
    - A Summer Long Since Passed by Virginia Astley: nostalgia is the only word that can describe this song. It makes you feel like you're a child again, enjoying a summer's day in the park with those you love, a time of no worries, simply blissful and peaceful

If I had to name the prettiest song for me, it would be Infant Eyes by Wayne Shorter. The feeling this song gives is just unbelievable. It sounds so sweet, tender and intimate in a way very few songs can match it. Wayne's saxophone is the main highlight of this piece, as it wails softly and expressively throughout the song, which doesn't mean that the other musicians participating in this incredibly beautiful experience are not worth mentioning in any way, since everybody is essential in building and bringing this embracive atmosphere. I can't put into words just how much I love this song.

Black Sabbath's ultra chill Planet Caravan sounds like if lucid dreams had a soundtrack. Lyrically though it's about traveling the universe with yo girl. Ozzy's psychedelic wavy vocals, Bill's quiet tribal conga's, Tony's climax inducing jazz riffage, and Geezer's sleepy bassline holding it together. There's a single piano chord that plays every measure in the last minute, like it's calling for the song to end. It fades out slowly, as if lulling you back into deep sleep...GrRoOvVy

    3 here:
If I Were - Vashti Bunyan: Oh my god. Words can't describe how hauntingly beautiful this woman's voice is. It feels like the song is being sung directly into your ears like you're a disney princess, but the lyrics are so melancholic. The yearning sound of the instrumental matches it perfectly. As a producer I have considered sampling it a multitude of times but it just feels sacred
Oxygen - Willy mason: Probably my nomination for the best folk song of all time. The acoustic guitar is simple and does its job but the vocals really set it apart. The slow ascending melody accompanied by bleak and poignant social commentary about the working class in America fits in perfectly with the wider themes of the album and then reaches the euphoric chorus, where Willy pushes his vocal abilities to their limits, making something that comes off as deeply human and personal. Fucking incredible.
La Vie En Rose - Louis Armstrong version: Do I even need to explain this? One of the most incredible and influential artists of the 20th century delivering a top notch performance on the trumpet followed by one of the most simple yet captivating verses I've ever heard. All this combined creates something that I would argue is probably one of the best love songs of all time. A flawless song by a brilliant artist.

"Day After Tomorrow" by Tom Waits is a ruggedly beautiful tune. This song is comforting and upbeat but tragic, and Tom Waits delivers the whole thing in this gentle, but tired and pleading tone. The acoustic guitar work is also beautiful and the sort of sparse arrangement of the overdubs lends itself well to the song. Its not Wait's most creative or impressive song, but its always managed to bring me to tears when i listen.

I've already found so many wonderful tracks from this series, PLEASE DO MORE!
I've already recommended this track but I hope you get to listen to it!
Magnolia by J.J. Cale, his ghostly, quiet vocals and subtle guitar work, it's unreal. Not to mention the universal lyrics of memory and lost love.

Ashes to ashes is AMAZING… it describes David bowie’s drug addiction with such emotion and vigour… it’s very ethereal. The wonky keyboard and drum sounds create such an interesting and dynamic beat and it paints quite an interesting picture of drug addiction. Also when time runs out - I know you are busy man, just skip to the solo at the end…. oMY GOODNESS it’s soooo good

"Wait" by M83 was always a personal journey for me. The slow build-up of the song with the bits of Anthony's ethereal vocals always gave me chills and that immersive feeling I was floating thru a space nebula at sonic speed, especially as the song progresses near the end with the epic synths, crashing drums, and everything else on the side that clearly wants to make you cry on the finish. Definitely a 10/10 imo👌

This is a song I don’t expect anyone to know, I don’t expect many to even know the artist, but Jewel of Sin by Tk from Ling Tosite Sigure is quite frankly one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard.
TK’s music never fails to be beautiful in some way or another but this song is something else, with the simple keyboard over his beautiful vocals, the lyrics being purely heart wrenching, and the orchestrated instrumentals over it all are just the most beautiful combination. It should be a crime that the song was removed from American streaming

"The District Sleeps Alone Tonight" by The Postal Service is my pick for the next video in this series should it come out because to this day I still have not heard any album that can be analogous to Give Up, the way the opening track begins with a droning noise followed by dry, barebone snares and Ben Gibbard's clean vocals, presumably about his last relationship at the time and him coming to terms about what he did wrong without explicitly telling us exactly what it was, really sucks me right into the atmosphere of the track, which picks up its tone with various 'glitchy' sound effects and backing strings that encapsulate a feeling of being dropped and picking yourself back up, I simply cannot think of a song that has the kind of beauty this track does that isn't also from Give Up

Birdland by The Afghan Whigs. This song is absolutely gorgeous, with it's orchestral arrangement popping in and out with an accompanying off-key falsetto that comes together in harmony for the chorus. It's a very powerful song about growing up, love, and loss. What's interesting about this song is how I found it; I was on the skytrain heading to a UV light treatment for my then horribly out-of-control psoriasis. There was a stranger seated near me and, for one reason or another, we began talking. I can't remember his name, but I remember his face and our conversation; we talked about music. I recommended him the band Red Vox and their new album "another light" as I had it on repeat for the prior month. He gave me this band "the afghan whigs". I checked out the opener to their "In Spades" record when I arrived home and was floored at it's beauty. It felt like a storybook of memories had jumped to life before my very eyes. Now about 4 years later I return to the song after my first breakup, and I am once again brought to tears at how beautiful it is. It captures my own feelings better than I ever could. Pretty good for a song who's lyrics were apparently made up on the first (and only) take.
