Bro! It's the weirdest feeling! I have an intense feeling of progress and accomplishment with these drawings, but also still see how much further there is to go before I'd be truly happy with them, if that's ever really possible.
Anyways, it's just kind of fun, for something I've been putting off for so long.

Bro is evolving, the art world aint ready
Whatever medium or style Peter tries he knocks it out of the park ❤
boy is that the truth…
This isn't even his final form!
@sadmimikyu8807 yea he's like Majin buu
Come for the thumbnail stay for the history lesson
Wow. Definitely one of my favourite videos of yours. Not only you blessed us with great art, but also incredibly interesting research!
I love that when I started watching you were doing mandalas and now you've advanced well past that.
Drawing and story telling! 10 out of 10!!!
Alfred is my favorite. Your style definitely suits rugged and worn faces.
If you're ever visiting London, the National Portrait Gallery is well worth a visit. You can spend days in there.
Dragging the reface image over to the monitor about a mile away was awesome.
I’m very impressed honestly
I have never seen power like this! Magic!
Yes! I was so entertained.
As someone who followed a while ago due to your unique art style, these are amazing Peter!! Glad to see you always trying new things
at first when i was watching this i was really wishing you included the reference pictures as well, but then as you drew it was like we were watching these people with complicated lives and histories come to life on the page in a really beautiful way. i really really love this and i feel inspired to practice some portraits
It's interesting to see you correcting shapes and feature placement as you go ... and don't worry about making women not look like Barbie dolls. We're not dolls -- it's okay to make us actually look like humans.🙂
I've been starting this too after years of doing art. I never knew art could intimidate me again.
I loved the niche history too by the way, it’s fun to go down historical rabbit holes
Looks amazing. I still miss you using technical pens, but man you truly are evolving / diversifying as an artist.
Yeah I kinda want to get those out again, but I’m dreading how clogged up they are haha
very impressive! I wish you, that you always stay true to your nice and chilled personality!
Practice..Practice....Practice....Makes....Peter Perfect...!!! your coming along in leaps & bounds in your Portrait drawings.
Those are all seriously solid Peter! Awesome job.
Peter, have you ever seen Thomas Fluharty's caricature drawings? I think you'd like his stuff a lot. He does some amazing stuff with just an indigo blue colored pencil.
I just watched your e-bike video.
I don’t know why that’s important.
Mr Sideburns!
I think your portraits are beautiful!
This is amazing Peter. It's always good to get out of your comfort zone and learn something new. Loved the writing font.
You are so amazing Peter. I feel like I’ve been drawing forever and I still can’t draw faces haha! Maybe if you want, would you be willing to try anatomy too?
These videos are amazing, but I have to admit it’s so hard not to fall asleep too them. Every time I’m struggling to sleep and asmr isn’t working, I come back here and drift
As a German Historian for the IFZ in Munich (Institute for Contemporary German History" your Drawing Style reminds me a lot of basically any famous German Face-Sketch Artist of the 1700s-1900s. So thanks for sharing this because i definitely love that Style and wanna learn it
Prost & Cheers from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps
Can you name any german face-sketch artist as an example? Even as an art interested german, ive never heard that face sketching was a german art niche.

Top of my Head:
- Max Liebermann
- K. J. Böhringer
But many more. Maybe because i'm German and focus mostly on German History this Style of Portrait Sketches immediately made me think of a lot of German Artists. But those 2 def immediately came to mind
Was told I had drawing potential as a kid, but wasn't really interested. Your inspiring me to give it another go. Thanks. Love your art
Wow you’re very skilled Peter
Hi Peter, I've seen everyone one of your videos and this is high up on my favourites list. I love your drawing style and your immensely imaginative and impressive abstract islands of images. I love this video so much because you're also clearly great at drawing portraits and the history lesson is fascinating, especially with lesser known or somewhat obscure characters. I'd love it if this were a whole category of your videos going forward, portraits and history lessons. I'll be happily tuning in anyway, whatever you draw! Peace to ya.
I loved this, the portraits and the stories indeed were really interesting. Once again like all your RUclips posts thanks for sharing your art, your voice is soothing
Man, you stay interested…that’s an art in itself. God bless
Impressive, very nice.
It was really soothing to listen to you after all this while. I haven't seen a video of yours for something like 4 years
WOW!!! Impressive work you did on these!!! love it. Great job Peter.!
Dude, this is motivational!
You draw beautiful portraits. I'd love to see more videos like this one. The detective work was very cool.
Oh yeah
Stories like the one of the girl are so awesome!
As i work in a museum i stumble over such stories more often, its crazy how some stories just suddently have tons of holes in them that other institutions can fill (if they want to lol)
Hullo Peter, I loved this video! Your doing great! Portraiture either in photography, painting or drawing getting the likeness is the true key to success! You can even exaggerate features, yet if you get that essence of the person people will say "Oh You nailed it!" Getting the person to leap off of the surface of the portrait is what most artists have striven for since we began creating a likenesses of people! I often wonder how representational the sculptures of Cesar and other powerful leaders actually are/were. When getting a good likeness might get your head chopped off, just how accurate were some paintings or sculptures made? The advent of the photography process was a true limitation to some leaders in their propaganda machines! Some used these "limitations" to their advantage, Have you noticed how Hitler was mostly shot in films from a low angle making him look to be a towering figure? Even the films of the Olympics where he appears to be shot from above he looks so much taller than he was in actuality? Props and foreshortening so many "tricks" to fool the eye of the camera! keep creating and Please keep sharing your journey with us, Thanks Peter.
I feel you have come a long way since Florence! Well done, Peter!
Peter those look amazing!!! ❤such immense talent from such an humble man!
Speaking of faces, yours is Great.
loved Spencer you really did him great!
Dang, wish i could transfer stuff that easy!!! Impressive! 😮😊
I would really love to see more portrait content
I wonder if the Henry Fawcett painting had a little early photoshop going on! iirc you could paint out wrinkles or spots on the negative so that the developed photos would be essentially airbrushed, which must look much weirder when you're not expecting it. That, and I think the small round, downturned sunglasses are just genuinely an unsettling shape, like buttons for eyes.
Great idea to utilise the NPG. I might do this then visit again and see if I come across anyone I've sketched. Brilliant video as ever.
These all turned out so well! I would definitely suggest adding some more diverse faces though, in future practice (mind you, I realize you're gonna have a tough time finding good, surviving portraits of poc if you're hoping to stick to old portrait photography as reference).
So weird to think I've been subscribed to this channel for, gosh, maybe a decade? Time flies, just like Peter (?) in the thumbnail, I guess!
You are so talented! Beautiful 👌
Peter, great episode. Enjoyed this one a lot.
You're fantastic at portraiture!
I thought you only drew weird stuff…your portraits are amazing 😮
Your portraits turned out great! Have you ever thought of drawing yourself first, then as one of the old time pictures? Kind of like putting yourself in a different time line (past or future) and just having fun with it?
Thank you for the history too Peter, these are all great videos! 😊
Nice ❤ well done 👍🏽 6:41
These are so good! Another interesting source for me..I found a photo of my great grandfather from Family Search website where I signed up and started to fill out my family tree. It integrates with other people’s trees and after a certain point built itself back to the 12-1300’s on my husband’s side. I was facinated. I drew him. Thank you for this reference!!! Too busy to draw now..but hope to get back into it soon. Thank you for posting Peter!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️
Family search is free! 😊
So perfect and you do it so easily, wow. Even the letters are perfect. 😂Nice you knew their stories, it makes it all compleet🥰🥰🥰🥰
OHHH STOP being so talented!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hey Peter I don't know if you know this or will find this useful (I use it nearly daily) but you can do:
Windows Key + LShift + S to bring up a overlay where you can drag a portion of your screen and windows will auto copy that as a screenshot snippet. You can then push Ctrl + V to paste it into your desired location for use.
Woah also I didn't realize you're at nearly 1 million subscribers! One of the few channels I've been watching for many years and am glad you're getting some recognition.
the reason he looked dead in the photo might have been because he was! they used to take photos after people died to remember them since they may not have gotten any before they died
10/10 research rabbit hole. 😄
I looked into the story about Rachel, and in total her mum had 7 children but only 3 survived into adulthood, I guess it was just that common back then.
Hi Peter, loving your portraiture. Love to see you try it in other mediums as well and maybe some life drawing. That could be wild.
thanks for the upload peter :D
Did I smell portraits?? I would take sketchbooks onto the train for a few hours and fill them with different people's faces. Good reference find! I've painted your portrait once, I should go give it another go.
Wow Peter. Deine Porträts sind cool und wunderschön, besonders "Rebecca"! Ich bin geflasht.
Nice portraits
Very good work you did with these portraits. Keep doodling and drawing.
We love you.
We support you.
Tu comptes pour nous.
Tu comptes à nos yeux.
Hello there again :D
You are so much cooler than you realise!
i have fallen off a couple horses while they’re running. i can vouch! very scary and unsafe
Here you are! Yay Peter!
Also, Spencer was my dad's name! His middle name, actually. Spencer is a family name and lots of the males in our family have it somewhere in there. My son is Robert Spencer, and if you google that name, you will find a Wikipedia article about some dude back in the day, a British noble of some kind. But my dad didn't have Horatio anywhere, and Walpole is not a family name. Still, a very cool name indeed.
I know it's simple but when you dragged the image over to your other monitor I was pretty sure it was magic
Also this could be it's own series (drawing national portrait gallery people and reflecting on their life)
beautiful work, Peter!!!
Love these
Wow the whole time i watched it I thought Peter is from somewhere else in the galaxy i've never even attempted a portrait I wish I could show you my drawings only you would appreciate my work lol.....
Wonderful drawings Peter!
Hey Peter do you remember the video you did drawing 100 faces from Twitter? Could you do a new video just like that, applying your newly learned or improved face drawing skill?
I keep returning to your 100 faces video, idk why I find it so inspiring me. But I'd love to see another variant
Bro so close to 1 mil subs must be edgning so hard
I dig the mustache
These drawings are AMAZING, Peter -that of a master artist!! Could you tell me the type and the name of your drawing pencils? Thank you!!
Excellent work
Exceptional video! ❤

Your so talented
Walpole is a prison in Mass. 4:43
Wonderful as always. Can I ask what you were using to draw in this vid?
Yes Peter! Inquiring minds want to know!
I used Rotring 600 0.5 mechanical pencils with 2H and 2B leads
Peter, which pencil are you using to make these portraits with proper shading
I used Rotring 600 0.5 mechanical pencils with 2H and 2B leads
Y-AY-EAH!!!
Excellent
what is the brand of that pencil?
🅱️ e t e r Draws
A long way from your big fat babies. These look great.
Lovely video! How long did this drawing session take?
👍🏽
Wow
I've never read any tennyson, and it's been awhile since even reading poetry. Maybe it's time.
In my experience you gotta shop around a little when it comes to poetry. Some of it will sound dumb or stuffy or nonsensical, but then some of it will resonate and be amazing.
@@peter_draws I had picked up a small book from the artist moriava in Berlin last year that I found resonated. She has a sound track and imagery to go along with it on her website.
Is that a pen or some kind of graphite drawing pencil? Love your work.
Thanks! Yeah I was using mechanical pencils
Whoa… didn’t think I’d see the day…
Mutton chops or lamb chops
makin me hungry
Peter read one piece please I think you would love it
