Dipper is 12; Wendy is 15. Dipper spells this out _explicitly_ in episode 1x07 _"Double Dipper"._ We find out later in this season that the twins are _very nearly_ 13, but that doesn't make the age gap any better. At that age, even 2 years are _a lot!_ And besides, we don't know when Wendy's birthday is, so for all we know, she could be just a couple weeks away from her 16th.
This is why Wendy is my favorite. She could have been extremely mean and rude about what dipper was feeling towards her but instead, she was very mature about it and handled his confession with much consideration while still being upfront with him about why things wouldn’t work and who knows what they both become adults that age gap is not a big deal just right now it is
the Shapeshifter's true form was very well designed especially when he changes forms, props to the animators and artist that drew the Shapeshifter for this episode
I've always loved that wendy said 'I'm too old for you' instead of telling dipper he was too young for her. it's a subtle difference but it puts the 'fault' on her and doesn't make him feel like he just has to change something about himself to win her over
_The Owl House_ was created and run by Dana Terrace, who was one of the story-board artists on _Gravity Falls,_ and Alex Hirsch lent a hand as a consultant in the beginning, as well as voicing two of the supporting cast. He was the show-runner, but not the creator, of _Inside Job._
Another one of the best yet creepiest episodes of season 2! I loved this episode! Another HYPE reaction! 15:22: Was waiting for this reaction! You and Ivy were TERRIFIED! 🤣
Wendy is so cool. And not just how Dipper thinks she is. I think it’s safe to say she’s known about his crush basically the whole summer. When I was in high school, some of my tween brother’s friends had crushes on me, and it was not hard to tell. But she’s so cool about it, she always goes out of her way to treat Dipper like a friend and equal, to include him in her friend group, and to act oblivious so he can save face. And once he comes clean, she’s cool about that too! She’s not condescending, or dismissive, she just says, ‘look, I actually think you’re a pretty cool little guy and I like hanging out with you.’ Wendy is so great -‘That six fingered nerd hasn’t been himself in 30 years’ hOOOO BOY YOU DONT KNOW HOW ACCURATE THAT STATEMENT IS-
Yeah, S1 of Gravity Falls is fun but mostly standalone stuff, S2 is where the writers get to stretch themselves a bit. That's true of a lot of this style of kids show though, I assume it's a general studio mandate for episodic programming, or something! Very excited for The Owl House, probably my favourite cartoon of the past decade.
Dipper finally confess his feelings to Wendy, which she knew the entire time. The Shapeshifter is so terrified, especially the Dipper-Mabel composite monster is horrifying 😱😱😱💖💖💖
I was the guy who said Wendy is 14, and I want to issue a retraction. It turns out someone (not me) didn't do the math right on the Gravity Falls wiki & placed her birthday in 1997 without accounting for her birthday being in September. She's 15, as stated outright in Episode 7 of season 1: "Double Dipper." Let me be a lesson to always go to the source for information rather than relying on the wiki.
This episode scared me so bad the first time I watched it that I've never really been able to watch it since... Which is a shame since it's such an important one!
This is one of the best episodes of the whole show! Incredible The Thing style horror, and really neatly wraps up the Dipper crushing on Wendy thing. There are still a couple episodes I like better to come, too!
There is the age gap formula where your max should be half of your age plus 7. So if Dipper is 12, 6+7 = 13 and Wendy is 15. So yes, the dynamics are weird.
huh I thought Wendy was 15/16. She is working age... I know Stan doesn't pay attention to the law but her dad and Poolchuck think she is.her dad makes her work and Poolchuck hired her.
Whoever told you Wendy is 14 is wrong. She was confirmed to be 15. One year difference, but it still makes her and Dipper's age gap more substantial.
Only mildly related topic but I always thought it was weird she was 15, she's kinda written like a 17 year old if anything
I always thought she was 16?
Dipper is 12 and Wendy is like 15 or 16 at the start
Dipper is 12

Agreed. All the forms he took were cool.
@@SputnikSpyglass agreed
Wendy's 15 and Dipper's 12, which at that age the maturity level is different.

So glad Dipper and Wendy finally broke the ice here. Wendy was so cool for that.

The fact like you loved Steven and are nearly loving Gravity Fall tells me you're probably gonna love Owl House.
Cube! That movie was so creepy. I need to give it a rewatch.
"Do your homework" don't call me out like this I'm behind 😭

Property of F... you might want to think hard about this.
Wendy is one of the best characters in the show. She's really cool and can face any dangerous things that happens

I wonder if they’ve seen The Thing? If not, they should.
One of the best practical effects horror movie of all time.
I really like Gravity Falls, but The Owl House is AMAZING.
And yes, Hirsch did Inside Job.
Uh, did I hear that The Owl House is next? We are going from one great show to a master-piece.
What about Amphibia?
This season is when I got addicted to Gravity Falls

It was around this time that Gravity Falls was moved from Disney to Disney XD. Makes you wonder why. /s
This cube horror movie series is great
