HRV competes with the AWD Kona - not the 8k less expensive FWD-only Venue. 8K is a MASSIVE difference at this entry-level price point.

Very true. How can anyone compare those two? Odd choice.

    • @SteelHex

Yeah, the Kona is the direct competitor to the HR-V. The Venue competes with the Toyota C-HR, which is also available in FWD only.
I have the Kona and I love it. The turbo 1.6 engine is a hoot.

People still expect Hyundai’s to be way less than the competition but want the interior quality to be as comparable or better, they have to cut cost somewhere to get the value for money.

I've watched several reviews on the Venue - and I've driven it myself, as it is a car I'm considering for my daughter. I find your over-the top bashing of this vehicle to be spectacularly funny.

I have a 14 Toyota Yaris and was bummed to find out hatchbacks are being discontinued in N America. I'm leaning Venue for the value. Hyundai is just behind Toyota and Honda when it comes to reliability and I like that I can get a deal for a new not used option.

I bought a new 2019 Touring loaded for $32,O00 Canadian. Maybe they are including tax. Absolutely love it. Great engine. Versatile. To date, 8.4 per litre. Holds road remarkably in winter with four wheel drive without snow tires. Versatile for hauling anything. Great safety features lowered my insurance. Quite. Nice quality leather seating. Up to date lighting system outside. Nice styling.

In USA, the Venue would be more attractive, as USA Hyundai vehicles come with a 10 year/100,000 mile warranty (160,000 kilometers) on the engine and transmission along with a 5 year/60,000 mile (100,000 kilometers) bumper to bumper warranty. In Canada, you only get the 5 year/100,000 kilometer bumper to bumper warranty.

We got the HRV as a second car but just for driving around the city. I agree the engine is very weak and the lack of a heated steering wheel especially in Canada is unacceptable. The gas mileage is incredible, the cargo room along with the magic seats is very good and overall for a city car it fits the bill.

You're comparing a Honda that is based on the Fit to a Hyundai, based on the Accent. Like comparing hardwood to cardboard. You buy cheap: you get cheap. You really do get what you pay for.

The dealers in America push unnecessary extras with the Venue which increase its price, nto as high as the Honda, but still a big increase. Who, forexample, wants to pay $30.00 for a required first aid kit?

Btw that's very odd couple you are comparing here. Very different vehicles, almost like apples and oranges kind of thing.
