- We go to the Silver Lake Sand Dunes to finally test out the new 600+hp engine in our Jeep Wrangler! Turns out, the 426 hemi not only sounds mean but also performs like a beast. And what was even more fun, we arrived at the sand dunes just in time to also enjoy the Jeep Invasion!

Not sure if you’re still in Michigan or not but if you’re still around I would suggest checking out Drummond Island in the upper peninsula. The South Marble Head loop is a Jeep Badge of Honor trail and it’s the best off-roading Michigan has to offer. Thanks for highlighting our great state!
DI is awesome, but other than the offroad park or tank traps (which are being redone/fixed/closed?) not much technical there. It is beautiful, but I'd say Copper Harbor area and High Rock bay are the gems of the UP.
@@asaleemeadows the tank traps are currently open. We were there a few weeks ago. It’s definitely the hardest part of the island. I’ll be in Marquette this weekend and hoping to find some descent trails to take the Gladiator on. Copper harbor is high on my list of places to check out.
My husband was up there and got my Jeep signed! So awesome that it’s in the video. So glad you guys were able to make it there and have some fun!
Which one was it? That’s so cool. I got a picture of them a few tears ago when they came out to Honolulu. It was right when the Gladiators launched. I had a Launch Edition ordered, but didn’t have it for them to sign.

Such a foreign thing to see for me here in Australia. I can head into the bush/outback and not see anyone for days. Seeing hundreds of Jeeps in one place! Very weird.

As someone that grew up up there, here's some tips: The last hill is ALWAYS the most dangerous. Don't call it drag racing. (DNR don't like it 😉) Cruise the hills the first time around before you go ball to the walls, since the peaks change overnight. Most importantly, have fun! Silver Lake is one of the many gems of Michigan and I miss it now that I'm 2,000 mi away.

Just to add to your great reply, the peaks can change in a matter of minutes! We drove over Sunset hill in the morning. Then not even 45 minutes later we went to go over it again. There was a huge dip that wasn't there previously. It caught me and everyone in my Wj off guard.
Everything is good for drag racing there, the governor signed the bill to allow it

How much can be done at Silver Lake Sand Dunes with a Jeep that is basically stock? I will be nearby there in a about a month, and have always wanted to check it out.

I was there a few years ago from the west coast. Same surprises. Price hasn’t changed much. I gave my flag to a young service member who was just getting into wheeling.

I love Spring Lake Sand Dunes. Anytime we get to go up to visit family during the summer, we always drive so we can have some fun in the Jeep. Lots of great rides up there too.

The sand highway whoops remind me of Glamis, CA. I noticed a speed limit sign on the whoops where you were recording this video. (Lots of bounce at that speed, can be fun for awhile). The competition sand hill that so many were climbing your way, looks like the old days near Pismo Beach / Oceano. It was exciting place when young, many years ago. The sand-rails, 4x’s, etc., continued long after the evening darkness set in. The quad type machines took over, last time I heard. Thanks for showing this place. Had not heard about this place either.
I have been going to Silver Lake since the mid 70's. It has change a lot in those years.You need to make on Mother's day weekend for the MT Baldy hillclimb.
That entrance to the dunes hasn’t changed in 20 yrs. I’ve been to Silver Lake about four or five times. Fun place! There’s no telling what you will see out on the dunes.
it was actually widened this last year to two lanes.. it always gets rough
And they put in a bypass so people who are dune ready (flag and aired down) can go right from the street at the curve on fox road right thru to the start of the dunes entrance. Now you dont have to go down and back up around the trailer parking lot area.

I love how honked off Kevin got over the $60 whip. I would've been the same way. One whip could've scored them a lot more than $60 after renting them out a few times.

I have 4, 2 for each of my vehicles so I can fly old glory or any other flag that trips my trolly...
I used the pole to have a custom orange flag made... 😎.. personalize.. any graphics as long as the flag is orange..

What an amazing Country we live in! Raised in SoCal, I would never have known you have a Glamis near Lake Michigan…but with traffic controls! Head up to Traverse City and go to the Little Fleet, and then check out the Hop Lot in Suttons Bay! Beautiful up here. Lots of vineyards to keep you busy.

Your killing me with this big surprise thing. Looks like you had a great fun time in the dunes with that power plant.. I think Kevin had a great money making idea for some local, about renting their flags.
That's a damn good idea. Kev and Brit set up a flag rental company somewhere near the entrance to the dunes, where people can rent a flag for the day for 20 bucks, and most of them would probably be returned so it would probably make money after only a year or two in service. Hire someone local to operate it so Kev and Brit don't have to hang out there, and let the money roll in over time.
Good tip about wheeling requirements. I didn't know that! I guess it's a way for the States to make money to keep the parks up! Looks like a blast and the Step Child seems refreshed and ready to run again. Happy Trails to both of you!
ORV stickers and trail permit stickers are sold by the state and they work Statewide through all the trails for 1-year the Flags are not sold by the state and only used at Silver Lake State Park

Seen u guys up there a few times, step child was jamming! But those hellcat Jeep’s sound so sick. I stopped on the entrance ramp getting on to 31 Saturday night to check straps and a few of the AMW Jeep’s rolled by, just Badass!

If I wanted to drive in Rush Hour traffic I would stay in the city. Michigan has so much to offer! I moved here after I retired 12 years ago and never looked back! Illinois really sucked.

Been to Silver Lake a bunch of times, even a short video on here from when we went to the Jeep invasion a few years ago. It was cancelled due to covid but a lot of Jeepers still showed up.
We'll be there over 4th of July in my Tundra.

We went for our first time as well for the Toyota Takeover last year. Duneland hooked us up as well on the flags and mount. 60 miles away from the park our throwout bearing fell apart but we went anyway! ended up making it all the way to Kentucky and then back to KC before it fully gave out! first ever time on sand dunes!

Kevin, Here's a suggestion for later. Install an EflexPro E85 fuel kit in the stepchild. Very easy. I just installed it on my F250 and used my tuner I mentioned to you on facebook to put a 100 octane tune in it. So the E85 fuel is over 100 octane and is available at many gas stations. Before installing the E85 conversion kit put a supercharger on it. With the supercharger, the Eflexpro E85 kit and E85 fuel in the tank you will be able to use a performance tune for about 110 octane. The kit has a sensor in the fuel line that will detect the percentage of Ethanol in the fuel and adjust the fuel accordingly. You don' t need to change to higher rate fuel injectors. I made that mistake. It will run perfectly fine on stock fuel injectors. The way it works is a sensor goes inline of the fuel line near the fuel rail. They provide fittings. The provided connectors connect to the fuel injectors and the jeeps fuel injector harness connectors connect to the provided connectors. The other end of the provided wiring connects to the control unit. The control unit can be programmed with an app on your cellphone using bluetooth. With that combo you will easily put over 1000 horses at the rear wheels with that new stroker motor.
