This was filmed in Fort Lauderdale, FL. They didn't have permission to blow up the golf course. The local airport thought a plane crashed. The two well known comedians, Bill Murray and Chevy Chase didn't have any scenes together, so they added the scene where Ty plays at night and visits Carl's equipment room/living quarters.
The story goes that the producers took the owner of the golf course to lunch on the other side of town when they were going to blow up stuff on his course But the explosions were so loud they were heard even across town. The owner of the course was not happy.

By the way, the bit where Murray bit the head off of one of his plastic explosive figures is meant to mimic pulling the pin on a grenade, then dropping it down the hole. Thing is, that doesn't work in real life, except as a way to lose some teeth. It's a Hollywood thing that gained traction and never went away. The proper way is to hold the grenade in one hand, and pull the pin out with the other. Even then the grenade is (relatively) safe, as long as you're holding the lever down.
If you ever watch Hitchcock's PSYCHO (1960), there a closing scene was a jail-guard opens for a blanket for the inmate. That jail-guard is Ted Knight, plays Judge Smails in CADDYCSHACK. Quite a promotion - from a jail-guard to a bigwig judge!
@2:06 This movie came out in 1980. At that time, the Soviet Union’s government would decide what a lot of people would be doing once they got out of high school, instead of the individuals making their own decisions. Some had to go to college, whether they wanted to or not. This was what Ty (Chevy Chase) was referring to when he said “this isn’t Russia”.
This is one of the top comedies. Bill Murray and his brother Brian both starred in this movie. Below you see where some of the movie ideas came from. The six Murray brothers grew up on the North Shore of Chicago. Their parents, Ed and Lucille Murray raised nine children in a sweet little house on a leafy street in Wilmette, Illinois. As teenagers, the boys spent their summers working as caddies at the local private country club; it was that experience that inspired Brian Doyle Murray to write the classic golf comedy, Caddyshack. Many of the brothers participated in the making of the movie and can be found standing around in some of the funniest scenes. In the late 1990s, chef Andy Murray and his close friend and entrepreneur Mac Haskell, came up with the idea of taking the Caddyshack movie concept and pairing it with a restaurant. To ensure their asylum would stand out from the pack, they chose a Caddyshack/Murray family theme that would fit into the relaxed but lively mood of their ideal restaurant. The very first Murray Bros. Caddyshack restaurant opened in June 2001 in St. Augustine, Florida, home of the World Golf Hall of Fame.
13:04 - "He doesn't know it's a chocolate!" - He smelled it and realized that it was a candy bar. 23:42 - "Why did h cut the head off?" - He was pretending that it was a grenade. It dances and plays the song "I'm Alright".
"How would you like to make $14 - the Hard Way?" Rodney at his finest. Judge Smails was played by Ted Knight, who also played Ted Baxter on Mary Tyler Moore Show. Very unexpected comment about resisting family pressure. Fantastic reaction!!! Looks like you got all the fun that could be had with this.
When I was a kid, my uncle took me with him once when he played golf. Mid-game he suggested I hit a ball. Knowing my own sad history with various athletic endeavors, I demurred -- but my uncle insisted, so I swung a club and hit a ball from a tee. ZING! It zipped through the air at a wild angle to an unknown destination. Apparently unperturbed, my uncle put a second ball down and had me try again. ZING! Golf ball number two was lost in the same way, all in less than 3 minutes. I guess my uncle decided he couldn't afford to lose any more of them because he never asked me to try again!

Hi Dasha. let me take you: way back b4 u were born to 198. although we already had a VHS player (pretty much the size of a washing machine) we only got our 1st local video shop. 4 me this was the ultimate paradise as I'd been a movie fanatic for over a decade by then but so restricted in range and availability. titles like Mad Max, Porky's Airplane. Police Academy, Warrior's and Caddyshack were my world. this was probably my first introduction to Bill Murray and he certainly steals the show along side the gopher. Chevy Chase was good too but the whole movie could have been just Bill vs Gophet (except for the brief nudity as I was a 15 teenager) and still been very very funny. a very find blast from the past.
I don't want to be the creepy groundskeeper but I have to say your hair like this is really really cute. Thanks for another movie Dasha, your take on it was unique and interesting!
Golf is the greatest, most difficult and most frustrating sport EVER. You can't blame your bad shots on anyone but yourself......LOL You have to swing that golf club perfectly! If your swing is off just by a little bit, you may never see your ball again..... 😵💫
can watch this movie every 2-3 months and still laugh my ass off. Can't think of any movies similiar to Caddyshack at the moment but if you want to check out a really funny, laugh out loud movie that will put you in a good mood then I highly reccomend "Uncle Buck"
26:11 its caddyshack, it's just the wilderness surrounding the wild people of the caddy shack. Thats why it's fun, there's no telling whats going to happen and all the things that happen with rich people in a competitive environment. Fletch is a great movie starring Chevy Chase thats a cult classic
That would be Kenny Loggins. He's done at 2 songs that had appeared in each of the movie soundtracks that his music 😢had been included For example, on the original "Footloose" soundtrack, he'd performed the title track and another song titled "I'm Free"
Great job Dasha! Another great reaction to a classic comedy. Also your first introduction to Rodney Dangerfield. I hope you check out more of his movies like Back to School and Easy Money, plus I've always liked Meet Wally Sparks. Keep up the great work.
The reason this film is so all over the place is that it is really two different films. When shooting began the plot of the film centered around Danny and Maggie but then Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, and Rodney Dangerfield all signed onto the film. Once that happened they had to try to squeeze those comedy legends into the film as much as possible so Danny and Maggie kind of became a subplot. To justify all the production time and costs they jammed as much of the shooting they could into the film even though it made less sense and was harder to follow by doing so. However all of that chaos also made it funnier.
The movie was supposed to focus more on danny and the Irish waitress but bill Murray and Chevy chase and Rodney dangerfield were improvising so much and it was funny so they decided to focus more on them then a romance between danny and the Irish girl. Chevy chase and bill Murray also hated each from their days on Saturday night live, Chevy has a reputation of being an asshole to work with and bill has a bad reputation for his treatment of women he’s working with. The caddy’s boss is bill Murray’s brother.
This is my first time watching your reactions. A lot of fun. If you like this generation of movies, back when comedy was not triggering morons? I think you'd have a LOT of fun reviews one of my favorite movies, "Big Trouble In Little China". And it's "free" right now here on YT.
Young lady you explained yourself very nicely. Thank you for this reaction you're so energetic and Interactive. Ted Knight who plays the judge you need to check him out in the Mary Tyler Moore Show television series. The ultra-rich high roller play by Rodney Dangerfield check out his movies check out his stand-up comedy also on Johnny Carson late night talk show. Rodney Dangerfield "I don't get no respect" definitely check out the rest of the the characters the actors and actresses this was only 1980 so they went on to better things bigger and better. And thank you for staying on target with that gopher I believe he was the center, main character. Dasha check out the soundtrack this movie came with its own record of music very popular on the radio. Thank you again good night.
For even better laughs, watch "A Fish Called Wanda" (1988), starring John Cleese, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Kline and Michael Palin Kevin Kline won the "Best Supporting Actor" Oscar for his role as the sadistic yet STUPID crook Otto.....😄

Hi Dasha. let me take you: way back b4 u were born to 198. although we already had a VHS player (pretty much the size of a washing machine) we only got our 1st local video shop.
I understood your comment at the end completely, its a wild and crazy movie with no purpose, no path but loads of fun
I don't want to be the creepy groundskeeper but I have to say your hair like this is really really cute. Thanks for another movie Dasha, your take on it was unique and interesting!
i hope she watches "Talladega Nights" soon so she can start referencing "i'm choking on my own spit"
Those rolled Rrrrrrrs, swoon.
2:04 The Russia comment was about being forced to do something (this was back in Soviet days), and not a comment on Russian education.
In Soviet Russia, college goes to YOU!!!
@@davewhitmore1958 Yakov Smiroff is permanently burned into my mind.
@@erikjohnson9112 Moscow on the Hudson, baby!
In English the burrowing animal is called a “gopher.”
I can’t type in Russian but using google translate it came out as a word pronounced “suslik.”
Golf is the greatest, most difficult and most frustrating sport EVER. You can't blame your bad shots on anyone but yourself......LOL
You have to swing that golf club perfectly! If your swing is off just by a little bit, you may never see your ball again..... 😵💫
Another way to say it is: Converging storylines.
"No risk...No reward" is what you were referring to, "One who doesn't risk..Doesn't drink champagne".
You’re always the best, Dasha!
Bill Murray's brother, Brian Doyle Murray, is the guy in charge of the caddies. He's the mayor in Groundhog Day. Pronounced: murry
Brian Doyle Murray talks funny 😆
@@nathancruz9172 he has a speech impediment. It's sad. Just kidding. He's a funny talker!
Dasha, doin' the classics! 😘👍
can watch this movie every 2-3 months and still laugh my ass off.
Can't think of any movies similiar to Caddyshack at the moment but if you want to check out a really funny, laugh out loud movie that will put you in a good mood then I highly reccomend "Uncle Buck"
Uncle Buck is a great movie.
@@tonyrossell832 Top 2 of John Candy's funniest films. The other being Planes, Trains and Automobiles
@@DaveW90 agreed
26:11 its caddyshack, it's just the wilderness surrounding the wild people of the caddy shack. Thats why it's fun, there's no telling whats going to happen and all the things that happen with rich people in a competitive environment.
Fletch is a great movie starring Chevy Chase thats a cult classic
Harold Ramis also directed Vacation. 😁
Ah 'Caddyshack'! Or as I know it 'Bill Murray vs the Gopher'.😂😂
Also check out the ladybugs, bachelor party, porkys, PCU, waiting, Dr Detroit, house party, class act
when they were done filming, they had 6 hours of footage! they had to go back and decide what scenes they wanted to keep for the movie.
Harold Ramis’s directorial debut
Great reaction to a classic movie.
The guy who wrote and sang the theme song for this film also wrote and performed the theme songs for the original “Top Gun” and “Footloose”.
Kenny Loggins
That would be Kenny Loggins. He's done at 2 songs that had appeared in each of the movie soundtracks that his music 😢had been included
For example, on the original "Footloose" soundtrack, he'd performed the title track and another song titled "I'm Free"
Logins was the king of 80s soundtracks
@andrewward5891 True, he had a lot of his songs on a bunch of movie soundtracks
Didn’t he start his career as a soundtrack musician? I could be wrong but I heard it somewhere.
Great job Dasha! Another great reaction to a classic comedy. Also your first introduction to Rodney Dangerfield. I hope you check out more of his movies like Back to School and Easy Money, plus I've always liked Meet Wally Sparks. Keep up the great work.
A movie called “Stripes” is great as well……cheers
😮 I love it when you speak Russian at the beginning of your videos it's such a beautiful language
However all of that chaos also made it funnier.
they could have cut Maggie out completely and no one would have missed her. That subplot was useless.
Damn she hitting that wall fast
Beautiful reaction. Love ya Dasha.
For even better laughs, watch "A Fish Called Wanda" (1988), starring John Cleese, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Kline and Michael Palin
Kevin Kline won the "Best Supporting Actor" Oscar for his role as the sadistic yet STUPID crook Otto.....😄
