I believe she came out in the 70's, Tanya Tucker the first child country singer to make it big with Delta Dawn at the age of 13. Love the song Landslide by the Dixy Chicks, thought they originated it, original sounds excellent as well.
@@mobiustrip1400 I like her very much too. She has such a gentle voice that you can't help but be caressed by it. But it's not enough to be the "best voice of all time".
My favorite is Karen Carpenter with the voice of an angel. After all these years I am still captivated by her voice and her drumming too. Rest in peace dear Karen.
Linda Ronstadt was a huge star, she had a string of hit songs and platinum albums in the 70’s. Bette Midler’s highest ranking 70’s single got #4 Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. I love her, but most people didn’t know who she was till 1980’s The Rose. One of the sappiest songs ever.
Karen Carpenter is the first, Olivia Newton-John, Tina Turner, ABBA, Aretha Franklin, The Mamas and the Papas, Linda Rostand, Anne Murray. There were so many singers of exceptional talent in those days. They were much better than the ones we have now. Respect for the exception.
I think Linda Ronstadt should've been included. Also, Karen Carpenter should've been rated much higher. Karen's vocal range, dynamics, and perfect pitch should've rank her close to #1 in my opinion. Another Ann & Nancy Wilson from Heart.
After decades it is clear, Karen Carpenter had the pitch, the range, the emotion, the phrasing, and, unfiltered by autotune and other technologies, the range of no other female singer of the 20th century.
@@geodosher5462 Here's one for ya, check the credits of the album Pink Floyd The Wall, and even the credits at the end of the movie, Toni Tennille was a singer on the album, and yes, it's her and not just someone with the same name, she even talks about it in several interviews, she also sang on Elton John's album Caribou and several other famous albums, but The Wall is the real surprise, Toni Tennille and Pink Floyd just isn't a connection you'd come up with yourself in a million years.
Absolutely, Linda had one of the most versatile, amazing voices ever. She was magical. She sang every genre. Even loved her on older classics. She sang the old Disney song, “When You Wish Upon a Star” and turned it into one of the most beautiful songs ever! Linda belongs on this list, maybe even #1.
Karen Carpenter was and Always be the very best of all Times . Perfect pitch, perfect intonation ! Her voice is haunting and was a gift from God ! My second choice is Carly Simon and how is it possible to forget Ella Fitzgerald ?? But : Karen forever 💖
I'm not criticizing but how does one put Donna Fargo on this list and not mention Olivia Newton-John, Helen Reddy, Carole King, Linda Ronstadt or Roberta Flack just to name a few? Aretha at #1 is perplexing especially given that the two songs that were mentioned here were from the SIXTIES.... Diana Ross, Gladys Knight, Melissa Manchester, Janis Ian, Minnie Riperton, Phoebe Snow... so many you left out. I also think Karen Carpenter wasn't given her due here. She's on the list but truly should have been #1.
Karen Carpenter should have been number one. It's also unfortunate that the list only included ten slots. Others I'd love to see on the list include Roberta Flack, Dionne Warwick, Peaches of Peaches and Herb, Tennille of the Captain and Tennielle, Helen Reddy, Vicki Lawrence, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Juice Newton, Barbara Mandrell, Maureen McGovern, Dianna Ross, Gladys Knight and probably many more that have gotten lost in the cobwebs if my mind.
#1 should have been Karen Carpenter. You left out Olivia Newton-John and Linda Ronstadt, who had more hits and defined the 70s better than a lot of your picks.
Anne Murray, Linda Ronstadt, Olivia Newton John, Carole King, Gladys Knight, Dianna Ross not even honorable mentions? Yet Donna Fargo , Joni Mitchell are in the top 10? Really?
Who is your Favorite Female Singer from the 1970s? and if they're not on this list who would you add?

Karen Carpenter was the best and she was gone much too soon.
I agree!

Olivia Newton-John, Linda Ronstandt, Diana Ross, Gloria Gaynor, Debby Boone, Marie Osmond, so many more!

For me, without doubt, Karen Carpenter is absolutely number one! One hundred years from now no one would still replicate that voice. Not even AI.
Judith Durham goes close and the Seekers' song were so much better.

Karen Carpenter should have been number one.
Agreed.
I'm with you on that. Karen Carpenter was like no other. So sad that her life was cut short.

Truth....
I think Karen Carpenter was far better than Dolly Parton!!!
My favorite is Karen Carpenter with the voice of an angel. After all these years I am still captivated by her voice and her drumming too. Rest in peace dear Karen.
Karen Carpenter was the best of all. She should have been number 1.

Karen Carpenter is my no. 1
Agree, Karen #1
Mine too, without question
Mine too!
I came here to say the same!
Mamas and Papas were 60s, not really 70s.
Juice Newton, Cher...loved the music from the 60s and 70s and yes it was better then!
@@Sandra-qs1mi Cher was a LOT bigger in the 1960s. Only occasionally since then.
@@Sandra-qs1mi Of course, and we could go on and on...😊🥰
A nice collection. Of them all and the missing, I would nominate Karen Carpenter.
Did you ever hear of Judith Durham?
I like Karen but that comment is absurd. It's almost as though you've never heard another female sing.
@@thomaskline Yes.
Karen carpenter should have been num 1, loved her singing ❤
Completely agree. A singer for the ages. I know there will NEVER be another like Karen Carpenter.
@@allanulen3809My childhood crush! I remember where I was when it was announced on the radio that she died. I weeped...
Probably would be if you had a national vote .
I get more ovation doing her songs at karaoke than anything else I do. From the people you don't expect.
Agreed. The Carpenters weren’t my taste but her voice was insane.
Karen Carpenter is the best with love will keep us together ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I too love Karen Carpenter, but for the record, Love Will Keep Us Together was performed by The Captain and Tennille.
@@geodosher5462 Karen covered it
@@geodosher5462
Here's one for ya, check the credits of the album Pink Floyd The Wall, and even the credits at the end of the movie, Toni Tennille was a singer on the album, and yes, it's her and not just someone with the same name, she even talks about it in several interviews, she also sang on Elton John's album Caribou and several other famous albums, but The Wall is the real surprise, Toni Tennille and Pink Floyd just isn't a connection you'd come up with yourself in a million years.
Karen Carpenter could be number one in any decade. Greatest voice ever
Linda Ronstadt was the voice of a generation! How can we believe this list?
This list is absolute BS. Donna Fargo and no Linda Ronstadt?
I was just about to say the same.
We can't. No Linda Ronstadt, no Judy Collins, and Karen Carpenter at #7? Complete BS.
Carol King and Linda Ronstadt where definitely in my top ten favorites
And Cher 🤔
In my opinion Karen Carpenter has the best voice I ever heard
Olivia Newton John should be high on the list. Karen Carpenter is the best though
Absolutely! Can’t believe Olivia didn’t make the list.
Yep what a load of garbage this is without ONJ and agree Karen Carpenter is the greatest of them all.
Karen Carpenter by a long way
Karen Carpenter,the number one!
Karen any day of the week ❤
Karen carpenter ❤
Linda Ronstadt for sure. Beauty, talent and stage presence.
I agree wholheartedly she is the best, no doubt about it
Karen Carpenter is #1.
Sadly you forgot the best selling female solo artist of the 70s Linda Ronstadt. So that means you’re no good.
Read your comment about Linda missing...didn't bother watching.
Of course the best voice, Linda! But how about Bonnie Raitt?!! And, how can you not include, Carole King?!! A major faux pas, in my opinion😢
Absolutely, Linda had one of the most versatile, amazing voices ever. She was magical. She sang every genre. Even loved her on older classics.
She sang the old Disney song,
“When You Wish Upon a Star”
and turned it into one of the most beautiful songs ever!
Linda belongs on this list, maybe even #1.
Karen Carpenter will always be No.1.
Karen is #1 imo.
You're forgetting Carole King, who had that iconic 70s album Tapestry. I swear every teenage girl from that time period had a copy of that album.
Many of us boys, too!
Definitely Karen!
Let's not forget the late, great Christine McVie.
Christine McVie or Stevie Nicks? No contest. Christine McVie!
Karen Carpenter is always #1
You have to include Olivia Newton-John, Linda Rhondstadt and Carol King
Karen Carpenter, Donna Fargo, Dolly Partin, Stevie Nicks and Aretha Franklin a few but nice memories❤️😉
The one and only Karen Carpenter. RIP
Karen is my number 1#❤
Karen Carpenter was and Always be the very best of all Times . Perfect pitch, perfect intonation ! Her voice is haunting and was a gift from God ! My second choice is Carly Simon and how is it possible to forget Ella Fitzgerald ??
But : Karen forever 💖
Karen Carpenter all best
how could you not have Linda Ronstadt on this list?
Right!? Insanity. From 1975 to 1980 I think she had a platinum selling album every year and multiple platinum albums in the mid-late 80’s.
Where is Cher and Joan Baez on that list?
Karen Carpenter 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Oh, Roberta Flack! Enchanting voice!
Karen Carpenter is the best sound I've heard, and still resounds even when the radio plays a myriad of other tunes.
Got to go with Karen Carpenter. Smooth as silk and sweet as honey. If there is a heaven above, then Karen is what singing sounds like.
Linda Ronstadt was by far number 1. You also left out Carol King, Tapestry was in the top 100 almost the whole decade!
I thought of carol king too
Linda Ronstadt is always my number 1. I like all of the others on this list as well.
Carole.
@@davebrehm3696Carole.
Your opinion. Mine is Karen Carpenter
Karen Carpenter gets my vote for number 1.
Karen Carpenter should have been No 1 spot.
I have The Carpenter's Greatest hits given to me for my 15th birthday in 1972.
The singles was released in 1974, not 1972. Maybe on your 17th birthday
Are you speaking to them yet???
Karen Carpenter should be number one.
Karen Carpenter ❤❤❤❤
Karen Carpenter, imo, should be ranked in the top 3. Her range, her beautiful voice! Such a heavenly combo!!
Karen Carpenter and Barbra Streisand, are my favorites…from an old man, retired in the hills of east Tennessee.
Karen Carpenter had such a beautiful voice, and she sure did go through a lot in her life.
No.1 Karen Carpenter - no contest (except possibly Judith Durham from the Seekers).
MOST CERTAINLY
Karen Carpenter should have been number one. It's also unfortunate that the list only included ten slots. Others I'd love to see on the list include Roberta Flack, Dionne Warwick, Peaches of Peaches and Herb, Tennille of the Captain and Tennielle, Helen Reddy, Vicki Lawrence, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Juice Newton, Barbara Mandrell, Maureen McGovern, Dianna Ross, Gladys Knight and probably many more that have gotten lost in the cobwebs if my mind.
Frank sinatra said Karen Carpenter was the only singer he would pay to here sing Karen #1
How can Linda Ronstadt not be on this list?
My vote is for Karen Carpenter. Fantastic drummer and a vocalist beyond excellence.
Karen Carpenter is # 1 for me 🙏🏻♥️
Carole King belongs in that list for sure, at list top 5, YOU.MISSED!
My favorite 70’s Female Singer was Helen Reddy.
@@Jiltedin2007 Mine too! I had a few of her 45’s and they were wore out!
Where are Linda Ronstadt, Olivia Newton John, Helen Reddy, and Carole King?
Karen Carpenter # 1. Tie fir #2, Olivia Newton John and Donna Summer..
Karen Carpenter definitely should be higher than 7!
Joni Mitchell and Karen Carpenter are the BEST!
Best Wishes
Andre
Linda Ronstadt, how do you leave her out of top 10???
#1 should have been Karen Carpenter.
You left out Olivia Newton-John and Linda Ronstadt, who had more hits and defined the 70s better than a lot of your picks.
No contest - it's Karen Carpenter.
Stevie Nicks for me!!!!!! 70s was my school years as a kid, graduated in 81!!!!!
100% agree with the majority KC definitely number 1
The greatest female singer's to ever grace this planet are Karen carpenter and Judith Durham.
Agreed!
I AGREE BEYOND A DOUBT
Nice! Karen Carpenter number 1. Donna Summer nr 2.
Stevie Nicks has always been my favorite.
Karen Capenter was my favorite back in the 70s
Where is Linda Ronstadt? Carole King?
karen carpenter,donna summer,diana ross,linda Ronstadt
Caren ,Barbara and Donna😊❤
Diana Ross, Olivia Newton-John and Gladys Knight come to mind.
also Agnetha Faltskog and Frida Lyngstad
Karen Carpenter No 1
Karen Carpenter should have been higher on list
Karen Carpenter and Olivia Newton-John are, each of them in, a league of her own.👍
100% agree!
Joni needs a higher place than she was given on this list!
Karen carpenter
Anne Murray, Linda Ronstadt, Olivia Newton John, Carole King, Gladys Knight, Dianna Ross not even honorable mentions? Yet Donna Fargo , Joni Mitchell are in the top 10? Really?
Linda Ronstadt, the most successful female vocalist throughout the 70's hand down.
Linda Ronstadt !!!
Wow! No Linda Ronstadt? Good Grief.
Good grief they’re no good!
I know, this list sucks!
@@tjwash2 Well played!
Carpenter is to low
i think your right.
Love these - but missing Linda Ronstadt and Carole King
