    I grew up listening to L. BERNSTEIN 's classical lessons for youth. I am so looking forward to seeing this movie. Thank you for performing in this wonderful portrayal of this incredible legend

    Can't wait to see this movie...but this is the first time I've ever heard Lenny compared to Punk Rock, I get where Bradley is coming from, but, for instance, during the height of the Hippie movement, he was on TV associating himself with the establishment-Mr. Jones, etc But in terms of Lenny's insistence to break the rules of convention in classical music, he was of the punk ethos

    He’s full of magnetism , what an amazing man and wish had known him and I’m sure this film will change that, with Bradley Cooper

    I performed Brahms First Symphony with Lenny as the principle first horn. Bradley's comment about soaring above the orchestra is absolutely true. The first movement halts for a horn solo, and then t he orchestra comes in and the horn soars above. I will never forget Lenny staring into my eyes that entire passage as I became an eagle soaring above the performance.
    He was a once in a thousand years soul. I don't know what witchcraft Cooper engaged in, but Lenny is back in his performance.

    A former assistant of Bernstein lived on my mother’s floor in Chelsea. Apparently, he was quite familiar with Bernstein’s cannon.

    Classic FM, your interviews and videos are beautiful and very motivating but can you please, get better sound equalising? The "s" are too loud.

    2:24 - 2:33. didn't know anything about Bernstein's canon or about Gustav Mahler? i've been wondering how much an admirer Bradley Cooper is of LB, especially how many of his CDs or DVDs or even LPs of his massive discography does Mr. Cooper own. Based on his comments apparently he has none! I've been listening and collecting Bernstein's recordings since i was 19 (and am now 67).....so who is the bigger fan?

      @@sabristlesNo, but i want to know what attracted Mr. Cooper to Leonard Bernstein if not his immense repertoire? Was it his celebrity status? or his double-life with his wife, Felicia. i was going to see this movie but maybe not.

    No, he wasn't punk rock. He was a musical genius transcending genres but firmly based in classical tradition. To say something like this after he has studied Bernsteins work for months in order to play this role is really kind of shallow and doesn't really make me want to watch that movie, but rather listen to one of Bernsteins great recordings again.

      You say you’re a fan of Bernstein but seem to overlook that he would often weave in pop influences into his music. In his time, it was jazz, but had he been younger, he would probably have looked to rock music for influences.

    • @christianstark2381
      @christianstark2381 7 месяцев назад

      @@Shadowfax-1980 I wrote that he was transcending genres. Still doesn't make him punk rock. He was a classical musician trained and based in classical tradition, period.

    Saw the movie, with great expectations, and - aahnaah. Cooper doesn’t convince as Bernstein, his strange, hollow eyes are totally foreign to the character he plays, he lacks the charisma, and his conducting thus looks like absurd-comical gymnastics.
    Cooper is a nice guy and I respect the enthusiasm, but it didn’t work. .
