It breaks my heart to watch these amazing performances and realize that her record company let her down. Alannah is THE premiere Rock Goddess. But no one knew it because she was not promoted. She is my all-time favorite artist and this is my favorite track from the "Rocking Horse" album.

I can't understand why you say she wasn't promoted. She won best rock album and best female
rock vocalist at the Grammys and was the biggest selling recording and touring artist that year.
After that, you can say she almost disappeared, doing her own thing.
@@johnwattdotca the debut album was well promoted, it wasn't the case with Rockinghorse. But to be fair, the ninetees was not the decade of real rock music. Many things changed in just a few years.
@@markdani8736 I know what you're saying about the nineties not being about real rock music. Alannah was criticized for using studio musicians for her first album, and she used her road band for the second, why I like it better. When I think of Canadian female singers, I think of Heart doing "Crazy on You" and Alannah with "Our World Our Times". I would edit out some of her stomping and add more atmosphere, that is has already.

greatest. A fabulous and rare talent. The texture, dynamics and control of her voice, her articulation, her phrasing are simply from another planet.

Alannah is nothing less than SPECTACULAR. An outstanding singer and Stage Performer. Can't take your eyes off of her. Indeed, recording contracts way back then were very one sided.
For me, Rockinghorse is a lost and cruelly underrated classic. Far more consistent than her debut. In my top 3 all time favourite albums ❤️
This album is more sophisticated but the debut album is more powerful.

Under appreciated! Her music is great! Each of her songs are different, definitely not mass-produced, and she has a great voice too. Such a pity we didn't hear more of her at the time.
Sometimes the very best are overlooked for greatness until a later time when they become much more appreciated. Her BEST TIME is still comin'.....count on it!

Finally wrote out lyrics and it only tells: truth about choices. When first heard tune before working out lyrics, thought that this could be a song for a vampire movie. Well it comes close on both sides, but I have not slept in a casket but was given the opportunity to see the other side. Glad I choose a straight life.

I love Alannah I have the first studio album and the second too
I never understand why the second album don't have the same success as the first. Some say that the album don't have the same sound of the first studio album like songs with southern rock. But it's not true. The second album have diverse genres of rock. Like Adult Oriented Rock, hard rock, rock, pop and alternative. The first album have Adult Oriented Rock, hard rock, southern rock.
I think the album did not have the same success because when it came out the world was fascinated with the grunge and alternative scene. If the album came out in 1991, things could be different.
Henrique Ramos! Alannah used session players for her first album with Black Velvet,
and received a lot of local criticism around here. She used her road band for the second album.
"Love Is" and this song are my two favorites. The first album won her best female rock vocalist,
best rock album, best selling, plus others, at the Grammys, a win you can't expect to do again.
Alannah was fronting rock bands for Holiday Inns and was so wasted by the time she was thirty,
she decided to stop being a singer and moved back home where she decided to put out her own
music if she ever started a band again. I was playing some of those same clubs myself.
Hop Hop and MS killed Alannah Myles' career. Right woman at the wrong time.
