My husband passed away yesterday and this was our favourite song. Thank you Tiffany for allowing me to cry and love my husband John of 39 years. Much love and respect.
Seriously, that last shot over the balcony with a crowd below almost got me choked up. I didn't get to do too many of them since I'm a later Millennial, but mall events had a certain charm to them that just can't be replicated again. Growing up is tough, but watching malls and hangout spaces winding down just has a sharp pull at part of my heart. Wasting time wandering through the weird boutique shops, tons of unique food places, an arcade, maybe even a pet store!
Yes, just a much simpler time. Though we were kids so everything was simple back then. But we really did not have a care in the world when we were with our friends hanging out. Worst that would happen is one of our friends would tell us that so and so was calling us "blank word". We would all just say, "whatever" and go on hanging out at the mall just having a good time. Now there is no escaping bullies. At school, at home, hanging out with friends. They can get to you pretty much anywhere thanks to social media.

i got into a suburban school from the inner city and the first time they drove me and my buddies to the mall i was like wtf are we going to spend the next 5 hours here? ohh right.
the generation gap has become a chasm because the younger isn't learning from the elder. elders aren't digital natives. youngers are. how do we communicate across that? i don't mean to be a buzzkill when most here are escaping to their feel-good days, but we're in danger of losing things much more important than our pop culture. unless we learn to relate to the younger and see the world through their eyes, and then teach them to relate to us so they can appreciate the world through our eyes, our entire zeitgeist will vanish in a flash and the younger will start from scratch, doomed to repeat our mistakes and relearn the lessons of our history. to be clear, encyclopedic knowledge of history isn't the same as knowing the lessons of history. those lessons can't be transmitted through wikipedia. if you don't believe me, consider american government. senior politicians haven't done much to mentor their replacements, and a lot of them aren't stepping aside to make room for the new dogs. as a result, we have a geriatric government that is out of touch with the people it's supposed to represent, and we have extremism in both parties. the gap between seniors and juniors creates dysfunction within the same party, and the extremism creates dysfunction between opposing parties. frustrations mount and we react by electing someone more extreme than before, either pushing the envelope farther in the same direction or swinging the pendulum to a greater but opposite extreme.
@@nataliesimox5289 You've GOT to be kidding. There's an entire generation that grew up hearing that version, and there are millions who heard it long before Miss Darwich [born in 1972] came along and covered it in 1987. Not to mention that Tommy James and The Shondells also recorded such other "forgettable" songs as "Crimson and Clover", "Mony Mony", and "Crystal Blue Persuasion". You can find all of those on You Tube, and will most likely recognize every one of them.
1:04 @@RalphCramden-tm2gi I respect your opinion but I disagree, you need stage presence, good vocals etc, I mean there have been lots of covers done over the years,an artist or band bring out the song of the year and then a few years later someone will do a cover of the exact song and it blows,it sounds nothing like the original and it flops so I think there is more than just the song having great lyrics but that's just my opinion
Tiffany got huge after her mall tours in the 80s. Since malls were where teens tend to hang out. In the 90s, labels wanted their own Tiffany, and we got Britney Spears who also got big from mall tours (Britney was a huge fan of Tiffany growing up).
In Canada we are being assimilated by foreigners, have no freedom of speech and our prime ministers refuse to sell our oil. Which we could go back to those simpler time, oh wait I was not born yet the 2000 where far.

@@AIwinning-od5cm Are you aware of the fact that this is a *'60s* song? Revamped in the '80s, but still a '60s song. You can play Beethoven on a synthesiser, yet you wouldn't call it 2020s music.
I'd be honored if some fans of classic 80s rock anthems would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of EYE OF THE TIGER by Survivor, PURPLE RAIN by Prince, and AGAINST ALL ODDS by Phil Collins on my YT channel in tribute to the era of legendary power ballads. I think we're alone now,
The beating of our hearts is the only sound
Look at the way we gotta hide what we're doin'
'Cause what would they say
If they ever knew
And so we're
Running just as fast as we can, holding on to one another hands
Trying to get away into the night and then you put your arms around me

It happens I'm a 00's kid myself and I used to hate a lot of the music from the time, now I like most of them.
Eat some grass fed organic beef. It will take care of the tearing problem.
Me too!!😆
Back then in the 1980s everything was perfect. Bring me back my childhood!!
Hi Pam, how are you?
Gracias!!!
Adoro esta canción me trae buenos recuerdos 😢😢
Tiffany is absolutely amazing, listening to this in 2023 is just a whole different vibe
And then she topped it by posing for Playboy! Redheads are the best!
She's gorgeous she is such a good singer and most importantly she is a legend 🎤🎙❤❤❤❤❤
Do y'all remember how fun it used to be to hang out in the mall with your friends? Times were so simple. This song and music video are a treasure. Be blessed Everyone ♥️
The mall was the spot. You could be dead broke but it was still fun.
You are prolly in your 20s u dont remember, neither i
You have no idea!! Seriously the best time ever!! I'm SO blessed that I grew up during this era!! So magical and full of innocence!! Just pure amazingness!!
i got into a suburban school from the inner city and the first time they drove me and my buddies to the mall i was like wtf are we going to spend the next 5 hours here? ohh right.
yeah if you lived in the suburbs. There was nothing else to do. LOL!

Spot on!!!
You are soooo right.... Completly differet times full of EMOTIONS
the generation gap has become a chasm because the younger isn't learning from the elder. elders aren't digital natives. youngers are. how do we communicate across that?
i don't mean to be a buzzkill when most here are escaping to their feel-good days, but we're in danger of losing things much more important than our pop culture.
unless we learn to relate to the younger and see the world through their eyes, and then teach them to relate to us so they can appreciate the world through our eyes, our entire zeitgeist will vanish in a flash and the younger will start from scratch, doomed to repeat our mistakes and relearn the lessons of our history. to be clear, encyclopedic knowledge of history isn't the same as knowing the lessons of history. those lessons can't be transmitted through wikipedia.
if you don't believe me, consider american government. senior politicians haven't done much to mentor their replacements, and a lot of them aren't stepping aside to make room for the new dogs. as a result, we have a geriatric government that is out of touch with the people it's supposed to represent, and we have extremism in both parties. the gap between seniors and juniors creates dysfunction within the same party, and the extremism creates dysfunction between opposing parties. frustrations mount and we react by electing someone more extreme than before, either pushing the envelope farther in the same direction or swinging the pendulum to a greater but opposite extreme.
True data 😂😂

Not gonna lie, Tifanny is one gorgeous 80s girl.
Do 80 girls seem so much cooler than girls now?
Yep. Was a huge crush for me along with Debbie Gibson and all the Bangles. Americans girls did it for me back then.

Well, considering it's 55 years old now, no kidding.
Tiffany made this song more timeless than the original singers.
The good old days ❤
Tiffany was only 15 years old when this was released. What an iconic song for a 15 year old girl👏🏽
Anybody can copy a great song. Tommy James and the Shondells 1967.
@@RalphCramden-tm2gi My point proven. Nobody remembers that version. Everyone remembers Tiffany’s version.
Metal band Kittie was 15, Billy Eilish was 15 when she made Blue Eyes, none looked like it. That age is a pinpoint of something.

Tiffany was a better singer.
Nope that's not true.
Thanks Wikipedia
According to VH1's Pop Up Video, they had her tour malls because she wasn't old enough to perform in clubs and bars.
Both Tiffany and Britney are good singers

Actually, just south of my town(Massillon, Ohio), there is still 1 drive-in place, and it looks sooo rundown, it is lookin bad, but, I know people still go there! I remember when goin to the mall, was the big deal, and the theatres were there, the arcades and so much more. Now, it is like a vast wasteland, and 1 of them is closed down, now, due to the new era of cell phones and all that.
