She deserves endless praise for that opening tap sequence alone. It was perfection!
Yes!!!😮😅😊❤
Yes! I revisit this video often just to watch and rewatch the tap!
Paula is awesome
She's wonderful!!!
I still think of it. It's my favorite part of the video from the first time I saw it when the video came out.
If you lived through this era than you know Paula and Janet were radio queens of pop.
I promise people cared but time is just evil to humans, things change as a natural progression but not for the benefit of humans.
Miss Jackson, if you're NASTY!!!!
SHE WAS POP
JANET JUST filled in
Paula Abdul and Janet Jackson definitely ruled the 80s and 90s I grew up on their music had all their albums 😊
I agree with you I grew up in the 80s and 90s and Paula Abdul and Janet Jackson definitely ruled the 80s and 90s 😊
If RUclips was around in the 80's this video would have billions of views
Trillions maybe!!!!
It's better to sell CDs and records in the 80s than crummy RUclips views today lol. Means more $.
No need because at the time there was a thing called MTV that did nothing but play music videos:)
Sorry BORING. YIKES.
I remember when this song was played on MTV all the time. Ahhhhhh, the sounds of my childhood! 😉💚
I grew up in the 80s and Paula Abdul and Janet Jackson definitely were the queens of the 80s and 90s 😊
Madonna was bigger than both of them put together.
My word Madonna was massive in the 80s & 90.

This is the most under appreciated music video of all time. Its aesthetic is unmatched. It’s mysterious, urban, fun, well choreographed and well edited. It’s aged like wine.

It beat Vogue.
It was OVER-RATED
Well said!!
I could not agree more!! The production value, choreography, lighting and editing are as fresh today as it was in the 80s
Nobody appreciating the amazing tap scene in the beginning
That tap scene made this my favorite video of the 80s
I was just thinking the same thing...
Was the legitimately her? 😳
Update: My mother has informed me she choreographed and performed her own routines. Gotta love having an 80’s raised mom!
It's incredible!
I appreciate it. She's one of the few singers that can do it all - including tap. Remember, she started out as a choreographer.
Michael Bischoff EVERYBODY DO! We have NO WORD
Back in these days, it was impossible to live without MTV !
It was possible, because of the great radio stations!

Definitely know where your coming from....... today's music just doesn't do that.
@@jonathanx8528 I think that for today's kids, today's tunes will have a similar effect, but whatever decade you grew up, I think that whatever music played during your teenage days will always be special. I used to think that any modern music post 2000 was a bit lame, but every now and then, there's still a good one that is super catchy. My teenage days were firmly in the 80s, but I also think that not all songs back then were great.

Whoever shot this video in black & white is a legend , absolutely love this song even all these years later 🥰
I wonder if Mark Walberg’s Good Vibrations video was the same producer.
The black and white video, directed by David Fincher and choreographed by Abdul herself in mid-January 1989, won four 1989 MTV Video Music Awards for Best Female Video, Best Editing, Best Choreography, and the first Best Dance Video. The video features an appearance by her friend, comedian Arsenio Hall, whose popular talk show had premiered a few weeks prior to the video shoot. Djimon Hounsou also appears.

IN A PAST LIFE THOUGH AYE WAS THE KING OF LOVE
I had a huge crush on Paula Abdul. Loved the 80s music. Didn’t realize it wasn’t going to last.
It's 2021 and who is still rocking out to this jam
🙋♀️

Me
I sent this to my very near future husband. Its only been a little over a yr. Either were gonna end up killing each other or we've put each other through so much hell, if we can survive each others bs already, at least we already got that out the way and it should be smooth sailing from now on :/... idk. But wish us luck. I randomly thought of this and listen to it pretty much everyday. He annoys me alot, but I can never be away from him too long bc hes blowing up my phone wondering what im doing every last hr. 😒🤔🤷🏻♀️. Its been awhile since I've sent him songs but im pretty sure I already sent this. More in the beginning tho bc progress 😅
Her dance talent is out of space !!!!!!!! A true Artist from the bottom of her heart and soul !!!!
Really appreciate the dancing in this video. A lot of nature and raw talent
Whoever put this in high contrast black and white was a genius.
Well, that's David Fincher for you, haha.
