  • Hello everyone, today we have a special tree that needs to get planted since Spring already started. It is one of my all time favorites, and a "must have" for the Japanese garden enthusiast!
The Weeping Blue Atlas Cedar, or 'Glauca Pendula', is a rare tree, in that you cannot just plant one or grow one from seed. This amazing specimen is created by grafting a Blue Atlas Cedar young rootstock (the little trunk with roots) to what's called a scion (a smaller branch) from the same tree.
What you end up with is a trainable "weeping" type of tree that is a real show-stopper and conversation piece. I encourage everyone to locate one (online if you can't find one) and create your own little Zen garden...these grow in pots too! Thanks for watching, please like and share.

Very helpful, as I contemplate planting one of these. So many people think too little of soil preparation and amendments, and so I thank you for your guidance.

Nice specimen, but I would raise it up out of that hole and mound it up high. They HATE soggy roots. I lost two of these before I finally learned my lesson.

I planted two of these this past spring. They are a little younger then yours. I still haven't decided how far up to keep training them before removing the wood stake.

At minute 5:27. What is that little tool you use to prop up the branch? What is it called? Where can I get it?

Hi Andrew, that was a piece of thick wire that I bent, it was welding rod, about as thick as a coat hanger.
