Those are just shingles it's okay on that it's the taller loads that really is annoying flapping. I'm not saying it wouldn't help on this but it's not as bad.
@@noodlecompany8123same these guys swear and don’t think it’s actually through.More than meets the eye.I bet you our straps are hard as iron they have a hard thump to them sound like someone knocking on a door they don’t move won’t move and no DOT is going to do anything.
No you do not do it that way that is a laziest way to do it whoever showed you that showed you wrong sir you are the thread that strap in there like a needle in that winch all the way through then you can roll it up some and then tighten it up and it will never come loose but the way you have it if that thing gets a little loose it's going to come completely apart away from the winch can you ask why you have guys going down the road with a strap hanging off the side of the truck so no do not do it that way guys
So I’ve been doing flatbed for almost a year, and I’ve seen folks at stops who do this, but why do they do it like this? What’s better about this way rather than having the whole strap sitting on the winch?
When you get to the receiver all you gotta do is loosen with the wench bar and they are off, saves you about 5-10 min If you have a lot of straps then could save more time
Does anyone know where to find laws on things like this. Everyone has their own ways and I've noticed depending on the DOT officer you get they seem to be on different pages also.
I use to do it that way until in South Dakota I ran in the right(wrong) snow that pactedin the loop in the ratchet, it took me an hour to get the strap out. Now I run the strap all the way thru, then do the fold over.
Some guys only want a few wraps on winch. If the entire strap is wrapped around winch it may loosen up a little and you might have to be constantly tightening it on your trip.
Best video on short strapping on RUclips. All these other videos use the most bizarre techniques I’ve never seen before. This is truly what I see the pros doing.
Thx a lot that help me out) for newbie on flatbed
All that slack can stay in the winch. My guy must be by the hour, cuz he just added a solid 10 mins per stop.
It's not much difference because if you feed all that slack through, you'll spend that time tightening the extra
Perfect 👍
Except you forgot the twist to keep it from flapping in the wind...
Those are just shingles it's okay on that it's the taller loads that really is annoying flapping. I'm not saying it wouldn't help on this but it's not as bad.
yeah DOT will get you for that. gotta feed the entire strap then roll over the remainder of the strap
Wrong
That’s what I’m thinking, I just got taught to single it through
@@noodlecompany8123 wrong your 3 full turns won't save you from short strapping Mr.Noodles 😄
@@SkyWRX believe what you want. I got 20 years and countless DOT inspections just say different
@@noodlecompany8123same these guys swear and don’t think it’s actually through.More than meets the eye.I bet you our straps are hard as iron they have a hard thump to them sound like someone knocking on a door they don’t move won’t move and no DOT is going to do anything.
Aye this dude helped me with some coils a few months back good dude
Same what a legend
If you give the strap a 1/2 twist will stop the strap from vibrating in the wind.
I got a ticket for strapping like that in Arizona they said short strapping is not allowed
yeah DOT will get you for that. gotta feed the entire strap through it then roll over the remainder of the strap
Yep short strapping not accepted everywhere!
It's not short strapping as long as you make three full turns
By that standard the normal method is illegal since he even ran it all the through.....
Jeffery wtf are you on about? Jeffery JEFFERY
Good thing you told me I'm in Arizona
I'm second-guessing myself here, but I thought that wrap was "illegal."
This is wrong!!! The strap has to go through the winch.
Yup way too much fooling around in my opinion. I'll just keep doing it the same way I've always been doing it
I did it that way my whole life and never got a second look. It fast and secure. It’s the west coast method. It works.
That's how I've always done it I've never had a strap loosen or come off. It locks itself in.
How does call short strapping..
That is a DOT violation...
If you get caught
This why I'm scared to drive flatbed been driving for 30 yrs and always had dry vans 😮
That dude is taking way to long...
Do not do this y’all who watching 💯💯
Nice.. too bad short strapping is illegal and DOT is trained to look for this. Oregon and Washington scales check for it on inspections.
Called short strapping also known as illegal, the strap has been known to pull loose. So my advice ignore this 🐒
Not enough wrap's around the winch spool. He barely got a half turn
Illegal asf

Putting your hand on the rub rail while tightening could loose you your fingers one day if the load decides to shift.

We all do it a little different. I pull mine all the way through but basically the same.
It’s faster to just roll it up up unroll the. Throw over ion truck that type of strapping
I was nvr a big fan of the strapping technique. I was taught to run them through...tmc trained
Driver, I've seen PILES of TMC trucks up and down the roadways. Always looks professional with how the loads are tarped and secured.
You don't need to worry about the wind running on short little pallets like that but there is a faster easier way
Yeah want a ticket go ahead and try that lol
The dude on the organ was jamming!😵💫
What's the purpose of doing it like this though?

CA DOT at least . Requires you to feed the entire strap, roll up the slack, then tighten it up . No shortcuts although people still do it
Love your channel BTW!! I used to run Moffetts, manitou , gradall & JLG 1055
@SkyWRX but the entire strap is through the eye just add more slack and rolls......
I have drove Decks for years ...... never done that
Bless your heart
Until it freezes
It's not passable dot inspection
Thats illegal.. in Multiple states.
NOT A SAFE WAY TO STRAP A LOAD. JUST A LAZY WAY....NOT DOT APPROVED 😮
How's it not
This is definitely wrong. You have to wrap it several times in the hedge he only has a small amount of strap in the binder no way is that legal
I use to do it that way until in South Dakota I ran in the right(wrong) snow that pactedin the loop in the ratchet, it took me an hour to get the strap out. Now I run the strap all the way thru, then do the fold over.
Is not secure
Way to much screwing around
>grab very end of strap
>feed it through
>now have 2 to 3 twist in strap
Different ppl different techniques
Super trucker 😂 got a ticket 😲
I will try this only if I feel I can get away with it and most likely sooner or later I will get caught lol

That's fuck around an find out moment lol.
❤ if experience was a person 🎉

I had the straps pull out from short strapping once
Not a word said but a lot taught. And in just a few seconds.
Great job.
Sharp uniformed and cleaner thanks on tip
I'm definitely gonna try this. Been lookin for a better way
careful DOTs don't like this method
As long as the strap has more than a full revolution on the winch it’s safe and legal.
Awesome video very informative and to the point
Thanks for the visual tie down.

"coming Over !" throws the Hook
1st, put on some boots.......
Easy drive dry van..
🔥🔥🔥
Yes sir 💯
Best video
Does anyone know what size straps he’s using
4 inch straps
Definitely don't strap like that. That is super lazy.
Nicely done
That’s illegal and time consuming
He makes it look so easy but it’s not ll😅
Looks like a steering wheel holder to me I bet she's got one of them automatic transmissions too
