    A blast from the past | What is your favorite LOTRO raid of all times?

    • @anastasiolabropoulos
      @anastasiolabropoulos 5 месяцев назад +2

      I was never high-level enough to participate in Raids. Hell, even if I started playing back when Evendim was introduced, it was only last year that I finally finished the Epic Story and started the Black Book of Mordor.
      Therefore, my Raid choice is simple. Ost Ringdyr. Few gaming experiences so far have compared with PvMP back in 2008, and raiding Ost Ringdyr as an Orc Reaver was amazing.

      That's a tough one! I've been playing off/on since pre-launch. Helegrod (can't remember the name?), Carn Dum, Watcher, Turtle, etc... heh. I like skirmishes and some Epic Battles, as well:) Great job on the video! My heart goes out to you for your family❤‍🩹.. lost my mother a few months ago. Great job and I'll be keeping my eye on you🙂

    Thank you for this trip down memory lane. I was a heavy duty raider for a long time (minstrel healer, and for B team, lore-master), but switched over to music community immersion sometime after Isengard. Really appreciated your summaries! Most important, I listened with deepest empathy about your brother, and am so sorry. Understand completely. For my part, when my beloved LOTRO bandleader died, I carried on with the band 3 1/2 more years, but for the past year have instead been honoring LOTRO friends from the music community with filmed collections of music they made or loved, and reimagining the music of Geoffroi and others, and my accompanying lyrics, onsite in Middle-earth, as best I can here on You Tube and within LOTRO. Glad we both found ways to deal with the grief that leaves something behind for those we loved and lost.

      I’ve enjoyed the music community and appreciate all the work that goes into performing. I performed in the BTC production of Grease this summer as an actor. It was so much fun! Sorry to hear about your band leader. Loss is hard.

Started 2022 when lots of content became available for new players, I don't want to hurry but I hope I get to the cap before it's raised again! I was 10 so did not even understand what a mmo was, now I'm always struggling to come back, also my character is stucked in the limb of turbine database and I cannot recover it, played it back a few years ago and it was a lot of fun. I'm stopping for now at the beginning of the Isengard section as none of my characters have yet to get there - even though I've been playing since 2013, haha - and putting this on my Watch Later for when/if I catch up so I can watch this fully in the future. 😅

    2004 was a good year for games. Bioware game out with my 2nd all time fav NeverWinter Nights in 2002. That game and that era of gaming was very special to me.
    I love the gfx from that era. Sure compared to now its not aged well at all, but i love it. Sure these old games seem to run on an ancient code of honour, refusing to change with the times, but i like that. That's where i come from as a gamer, my happiest moments as a gamer.
    LOTRO brings me back to those times where care, love and craftsmanship were poured into games. I like that the old skool games repel modern gamers who only know the triple A gaming industry's constant churning of flashy (but utterly souless) games.
    In our corner, we remember the times of slow paced plays. We remember when games required us to use our brains, rather than constantly flashing arrows and shiny markers, spoonfeeding us on HOW to play the game. We remember how game immersion wasn't influenced by shiny graphics. We spent time reading books in game, we spent time listening to music in game, and we loved it.
    Lotro is absolutely wonderful.
    The devs have kept to Tolkien's vision and made it a reality in the gaming world. The Devs have stuck to the source material vigorously and that's where the charm comes from.
    Sure it's an old game with "archiac" mechanics and graphics, but don't let that deter you, as the magick lies within. This is the beautiful of old school MMORPGs, or RPGS in general. As a WoW (hoping you have tried classic or even Turtle WoW) player you will appreciate the spell mechanics/queue system in combat, which follows the traditional tried and tested format.
    Each area in the game is expertly hand crafted with precision and love. The writing, the voice acting, the narrative and pacing of the story is very well done.
    The music is phenomenal! You may find yourself completely immersed in the beautiful music whilst wandering Middle Earth. I recently made my way to Bree (i'm a new player) and ended up spending about 40mins just chilling there, not doing anything, relaxing to the music in the Tavern, whilst i was smoking a bowl of pipe weed in real life at my computer desk. I can only ever remember my three all time fav games (Fallout New Vegas, Neverwinter Nights and Kingdom Come Deliverance) giving me this relaxation and vibe. LOTRO has quickly become my 4th all time fav game.
    In speaking about immersion, this game does it VERY WELL. You will feel it as you slowly pace through the game, doing each quest, getting to know the story and the world, which has very little inconsistencies. I find myself caring about the world, even the trivial things. Actually just yesterday I ended up in a small town called Staddle, and found a questgiver by a Hobbit called Himloc. Well...his whole quest line is about how his pipe-weed has been stolen by local brazen fools that must be dealt with. As a pipe tobacco smoker in real life, this quest was important to me as you do not mess with a man's pipe and his pipe weed. These are some of the small pleasures i find.
    The community, whether you decide to play on the free servers or legendary VIP servers (I wholesomely recommend you get on the VIP servers, you will NOT regret it), the community is just amazing. It's a mature community of old school adult non toxic players, who care about the world of Middle Earth, who care about Tolkien's legacy, and who want to be part of it. Also we want to find Frodo in game, to give him some lembas if we can.
    So that's it. Now stop reading and get on LOTRO!

    • @Miloascape
      @Miloascape  2 месяца назад +1

      Well said! I agree that LOTRO does a phenomenal job with immersion, and I think it's one of the reasons still enjoy playing it.

      @@Miloascape Thanks Milo!
      My hopes is that through the influence you have on your audience, you can continue to educate and encourage people to delve back into older games, in order to distinguish between what a good and bad game is.
      You're doing a fantastic job yourself. You have a great voice for storytelling and a you have garnered good support, due to the soul you put into your work. I only came across your channel like next year, but i can feel the passion you have for your craft.
      You are an artist, not just a gamer, remember that. As an artist we have to pass on the ability to be amazed, to see beauty, and maintain it. Otherwise we'll lose it.
      Your work on your channel does just that. Don't confine yourself to the computer, or in game videos. Your voice is perfect for reading Tolkien.
      I am a Chinese man born in England and it kills me to see how the English youngsters these days can't speak their own language properly, they cannot articulate thoughts without swear words, nor do they have an appreciation for their elders. I'm talkin bout people like Shakespeare and Tolkien.
      Without Shakespeare there would be no great works of fiction in our modern times. Without Tolkien there would be no MMORPG. Tolkien's the OG.
      I hope that you can do his legacy justice, and perhaps through his work, we may glimpse another side of you, most wonderful and tender.
      Take very good care of yourself and i look forward to your next video.
      Your friend,
      Brave-Smoke the Yellow.

They are also testing out their 64 bit servers with some brand new servers starting this month. It's not as big as say WoW or FF14, but it has a solid community that has been showing up year in and year out. If you want to test it out, you're welcome to come join us on Brandywine. They have f2p on Brandywine. But if you want the high quality servers, you'd have to sign up for VIP. Great question. I was one of those fortunate to get life time vip access for $300 back in the day. So that plus the basic for multiple expansions??? Probably $600 over 12 years at the most.

    • @Miloascape

      You don't need to buy the vip, but will need to buy the expansions. If this if your first time, I highly recommend just playing the free to play until you are max level and ready to buy the expansions. VIP is a nice to have for quality of life, but is not needed to play.
