Very helpful. When I returned I was so confused about the LI changes that I just started a new character instead lol. I've since figured it out already but this should be really helpful for anyone in the same situation I was back then.
Thanks a lot for this guide! As a returning player, I was honestly a bit taken aback by the new LI system at first. The Tracery Hall in particular was overwhelming. I'll certainly reference this vid any time I need assistance with upgrading!
Remember ancient script from apraisals caps at 10k, so once you get close to that, you may want to wait with further apraisals untill you have need for more ancient script
Did it change? When I did appraisals I was at something absurd like 100,000/10,000. It just made it so I had tons of stored coffers and traceries that I couldn’t open or deconstruct.
@Bludborn Don't think I ever went over cap, so not sure, yet still it's a great inconvenience to be over cap and much easier to keep them massively stored in the old LI rather then in many unstackable boxes and traceries.
Hey man thanks for the video, I came back to play after a few years and struggling to figure out what to do with the old and new LI's.. haha But figured it out with the help of your advice on here! thanks so much bro!
thank god i found this.. i just came back at lvl 130 been away for a while.. i am standing in this great hall next to durin for 30mins thinking wth now
I went through a whole YT videos guide to figure out how to use this system for my main. Now that I am playing other classes, I disregarded the LI's all together, I realized don't need them to play the game, some of the best non-legendary weapons are sufficient to get the job done. They really invented a problem that didn't exist with LI's. I am hoping that one day they'll get rid of them, or simplify the system down to a minimum.
You definitely don’t need them for most stuff in the game. If you want to do pvp or higher tier dungeons and raids, you absolutely have to. I do agree, I wish they didn’t exist at this point.
The dwarf is wearing Gloom-Bane gear from the Rift and the Elf is wearing a mix of Storm-Bringer chest and boots, Relentless Fighter gauntlets, Lady’s Power shoulders, and both are wearing the Wig-Feld cloak from the Rift.
It is much better and more flexible system than the old LIs, but I still get a little overwhelmed each time I have to go to Rivendell and replace my traceries.
Gosh the new Legendary System is a nightmare. Thrown away all the unique UI, diegesis with the quests, the specific rewards through the crafted and enjoyable enough forging system. With the goal of 'making it easier' they have ultimately shaved off all the edges and made it more difficult to understand, they talked about reducing the grind but then created a weird system of tracery leveling with more rigid parameters that make the grinding even worse and less openly available to casual players. And STILL unable to see a full tool-tip properly without it going off-screen. I used to have so much excitement in bringing my LIs up to speed with a level-cap increase because there was an actual felt journey of them leveling with you (kind of the design document point of them) which is now gone in favour of more confusing statistic crunch elements and a bizarrely cordoned off single-area room to fuddle with them. The old system wasn't great but it was expansive and meaningful, which felt right for an MMO, and you had a very long game with which to get your bearing with it. For a new "revamp" supposed to make the system better, it just feels like a new way to channel player time and money for those they couldn't capitalise on. Good work on making this information more clear cut for uninformed players, sadly without guides like this it is very difficult for newbies to figure this whole system out.
Sorry but I liked the ORIGINAL Legendary system than what they have done now. Half the fun was in finding that First Age weapon rather than the 3rd age you started with. Made it a SPECIAL thing to have a 1st Age weapon... now it's just a "Oh well, WHO CARES" kinda thing. And what about things such as insect enhanced, or Ural-Hi slanted? That all is ALL GONE now... Again, made that weapon of YOURS all the more just how you liked it... It just seems to me that this "new" system is just LAZY in all sorts of ways!
I just don’t like any of it, really. It was dumb before too getting a First Age and then deconstructing it for a third age because the base DPS was higher. Just give me flavor text filled items again.
IMO LIs and Essences are the 2 main factors LOTRO stumbles and fails. The systems are severely grindy and monetization is heavily integrated into them. The damage they have caused for just about every part of the game is numerous and I worry they will become even more problematic and result in LOTRO's demise completely.
@@pandymandy sorry you see it that way. You get Reward Track experience from doing the stuff you are already doing to get resources for your Legendary Items. Most people i talk to see it as supplemental, and that's how I see it as well.
@@BludbornI'm also sorry you see it that way. But as one among many who did LIs in the background as their way of progress when not attending to end-game content, it is now virtually impossible to find elevation in the system without specifically catering your time to Instances and fashions of the game that were never the core focus for the LI system. I'll attest I've not been on the game for over a year now, as the Reward track among other updates were tantamount reason to seek using my time elsewhere, but in that window, even grinding missions at cap level to get items for leveling LIs never allowed me to reach the end. Perhaps I simply do not have the time to play others do, but when the content has specifically asked for further attention at a single end of the game in, what is otherwise a non-end-game MMO actively encouraging worldly exploration and casual play, I find that unacceptable. And as a system divined on time-gated FOMO, encourages a forced reliance on those end systems to make sure the player base stays attached rather than using the integrated systems passively - which was the original point of Legendary weapons (far less so for essence gear). I firmly do not believe the Reward Track to be supplementary, as, were it, many of its restrictions would not be in place as they are, nor would higher tier LI leveling items be pushed to its back end while remaining on a time-gate. Perhaps it is out of mind for many, but the shaving of meaningful area-to-instance ratio of gained bonuses when it comes specifically to the LI system means it must be engaged with to make ample progress - even if that is a background element for many. I do not discredit the value of a system that rewards present and constant play but it is, by creative nature, implemented as a mirror to more predatory systems that have come up in other games at a similar time, and I cannot take it on coincidence that that is the case, doubly-so when - to me and personal experience - made the gearing process of weapons in game far less enjoyable.
As a new player i got my LI a couple weeks ago and it made me want to stop playing the game. Im non-sub but have spend some money for QoL stuff and when i found out the LI grind i was discouraged. Had to make an alt just to store traceries and essenses, now im grinding the LI RT and better traceries and managing all of it. I knew the game was grindy but didnt realize they want us to spend our whole lives playing this game...

There is definitely a lot too it, and can certainly be overwhelming
Thank you for making this video guide. Very useful and to the point. As a returning player, I had no clue about the new system, this explains it well.
Thanks for the feedback! Glad I was able to help!
Your LOTRO videos are sublime! The info is so helpful and the videos are super clean!
Thank you, I appreciate that!

I really wish I had watched this a while ago would have saved me time. Great video. Also you pronounce everything so much better than me 😂
Haha, thanks! The pronunciation comes from a years of being live and saying things wrong 😂😂😂

Got to ask can someone tell me what is the gear he is using for outfit because its one of the best gear appearance I have ever seen in Lotro
The dwarf or the elf?

Hit 45, and received the legendary message, gone to see Rathwald but he doesn't have any quest for me..., any help?
I had that happen one time and I logged out and back in and the quest was there. There are no pre-reqs for it and should just “be there”.
What server?
@@Bludborn Mordor, but the npc around have legendary quests...
Volume 2 isn’t available on legendary yet. It would be come available when Moria gets added to the server.

nope, just level 45.

No lies were detected.
Still can't believe LOTRO literally has a battle-pass and its the primary way of leveling an LI now. Its truly insane to me.
