Nice video! I prefer to use the channel mixer in photoshop in conjunction with hue saturation (adjustment layer) and curves.

Fascinating. I hate semi-randomly moving sliders around until it “looks right,” although I have done that myself. A future discussion on how to develop a strategy for in advance slider changes would be useful. I guess that would be kind of a “how to balance a B&W image” discussion.

Very informative video Anthony. A lot of positive info there. One thing I've found useful in B&W, especially finding presets, is Silver effects pro. Has saved a lot of time. Best wishes for the New Year from the UK

Hi Anthony, and thanks for another great video. Once again I learned something I'd forgotten and something I didn't think about. But one thing you didn't mention as well; The built in Black and White Presets. They also have a lot to offer. Anyway, it's just a minor detail. I hope you and your family had a reasonable Christmas, Covid considered, and I hope you have a better year next year. Cheers.

I'm a very good black and white editor, but I found a trick or two here I should have thought of before now, but didn't. They'll be helpful; Maybe missed it, but I didn't see anything that looked like a keystone correction icon here. Is that just in Ps?

Great tips! I just wish I could embrace B&W! I just cannot find it in my being to take shots with $5k camera gear that I could only achieve with a Canon Powershot 20 years ago! Oh well ...

I can't believe you do not even consider using presence controls for B&W. There is often something missing after I have done what you have shown . To give a B&W photo more punch, pop, clarity, contrast, make the image seem more alive, etc., I will use the texture, clarity and even dehaze sliders. Yes, they require a lighter touch, especially the latter. Lastly, I will go to the tone curve. May times I will process in colour using most everything I have described above to point where the contrast/saturation seems like overkill in colour and then convert to B&W. Then it is often close to what I want in a B&W image, requiring only some tweaks here and there.
